A Western marriage that survives in the current year is an act of mercy and compassion by the woman.
If the marriage rate declines and heads into what we are seeing in Japan (and I think it will in the west), I wouldn’t be surprised if Government will look into paying men to marry. The Government entity will always pretend to be benevolent and the only way to pretend that is to ensure that the guns of the government are never revealed to the full extent until their social prgrams all fail
In East Germany in the 60’s and 70’s, the country had such bad living conditions that the birth rate dropped like it does in the Western World today.
The population was on the brink of extinction, nobody saw a future in living with this system anymore…
So the communist government acted: Financial aid for people with children, stay at home leave for mothers, kindergarden spaces everywhere, granted child care facilities…

In many places in the West cohabitation becomes de facto marriage after a set amount of time ..say 2 years. All the rules mostly apply. Which is insane cause they are creating a contract where only one side ever agreed to enter into it.Oh and Garganel..like your stuff but have to disagree about USA winning the war in Europe. While common-law marriage statutes and other similar laws do exist, they do not exist in all nations, states, and provinces within the West and, where they do exist, the time requirements vary greatly.
Whenever common-law is discussed on these forums, I find myself having to slap down well-meaning lies repeated by well-meaning fools. Repeating “common knowledge” and other urban myths does not help. In fact, it puts other men in danger.
Common-law marriage and other statutes exist.
Learn which specific laws and statutes apply where you live.
Do not rely on bulls~~~ and urban myths, however well intended, when making decisions.
And do not repeat bulls~~~ and urban myths to your brothers.

Thank you Old Bill. It annoys me too when people paint laws with a broad brush. Every State, City, Province has different laws. Knowing the law is the best way to protect yourself.

Well, your are right. But the Americans gave a lot of material and industrial support to the Russians. And they kept the Germans “busy” on three “fronts” at the same time.
The massive bombing of German cities was also carried out from the British side with the help of American soldiers, fuel, bombs and planes. Without the help and protection given by the USA, the U.K. would have been in “bigger trouble”.
But what I said about the USA is the same that goes for Russia. It is so big that no one can invade it successfully. And the Russian winter slaughtered away every army that had ever tried to invade and conquer it. The German Army was poorly equipped to face this type of freezing cold. And many other stupid decisions by Hitler, wanting to take “Stalingrad” first… instead of marching on Moscow.

Sorry I didn’t know that yet, but for Nazi Germany it was the most foolish thing to declare war on the whole world. Hitler was just insane. Hitler had a big problem: He hated the “Luftwaffe”, turned down their financing and so they only had inferior airplanes, as well as too few of them. The British had faster aircraft that had shot down the “Stuka-Fleet” like “sitting ducks” in the air war over Britain.
And Hitlers air force didn’t have planes with a tactical range far enough to bomb Russian industrial sites behind the “Ural” mountains. So the Russians were able to produce whatever they needed without any disturbance. Yes, they would have smashed the German “Heer” anyway, even without the help of the USA.
The Nazis were always up against intellectual leadership and Hitler discharged the most of his prime military “Generals”.
With so many mistakes, the war was bound to be lost.

Yes Stalingrad was almost peak stupidity cause of name vanity on Hitlers part over STALINgrad. Standard operating procedure would have have been to pincer off the city rather than get involved in meat grinder city fighting.
Regarding my statement on common law the other commentator; I said it does exist in the West already …not gonna go listing off all exceptions.

Also if you look at casualties, to my knowledge the Allies got absolutely crushed. Germany very much did beat down the rest of the world. Without the US getting involved and the Atom Bomb, Hitler very much waged an absolutely brilliant campaign and had practically the entire world bend to his power.
If Hitler’s military genius had arrived earlier, in time for WWI, things may have gone different. The Ottomans were still around then, but were weakening, so if Hitler had betrayed them as he had betrayed the Soviets it may have worked, plus the US was weaker too.
I wouldn’t be surprised of Germany once again arms itself and wages war on the world yet again. But in a way I’d also be surprised if anyone can in the modern oligarch world. Everything seems more controlled now, and the tech gap seems too large. Unless it’s some new method of technology to even the odds I don’t see how anyone can lead and wage war again like in the past.
Truth be told, ISIL was probably that type of power that in the past would have exploded outwards behind a wave of momentum. But they got beaten back. And of course nobody chose to ally with them. And that’s with built in possibilities with other Muslims, it’s even less of a chance with just a nation popping out now.
Previous expansions often were off of a wave of culture and technology that benefited people as a whole, hence why people actually would be more willing to join up and assimilate with the new empire. That doesn’t happen anymore. Stopped happening with the UK and colonialism.

By the D-Day Hitler already lost the war and was pushed back out of Soviet Union. War was lost for him already during 1943 in Stalingrad. By far biggest toll was 26 million dead in Soviet Union so Commitern lost more manpower than Allies.
As per topic, currenty many of us live in countries with effective tax rates above 50% so we are married in a way. But emigration is an option.
