You’ll get hit for 13,940 in federal and state income taxes, for an effective tax rate of 23.23%.
The average property tax on a modest house is about 4000-5000 per year, and property tax a decent, new-ish car about 500…so we’ll just say about 5,000 in property taxes for another 8.33% tax
We also have a sales tax, gas tax, car registration, license renewal fees, surcharges on utility and phone bills to support various initiatives, and probably more various fees and crap I can’t even think of off the top of my head. You basically work for free 5 months out of the year because that is the cut the government takes.
We’ve got high taxes and big government here and we don’t have a happy, healthy population. We actually have a population that has shrunk in recent years because people and businesses are leaving. Our debt and our deficits are bigger than ever.
So now let’s just say out of that 60k a year, you end up with like 38k a year to live off…but wait…you’ve got to pay your student loans, your health insurance, and hopefully are smart enough to save something for retirement before you figure out what you really have left to live off. Rent alone on a small apartment in a semi decent area is going to cost you 900 bucks a month. When you have higher than average property taxes you get higher than average rents. Then suddenly…you have a stroke of genius…if the government subsidized some of those things for you, life would be easier. Problem is they raise your taxes to hand out those subsidies and in the end you are worse off than before. The only people that make out are those that weren’t contributing to begin with. Like I said, you sound young, after a few years of being a contributor you will realize how foolish it is to support an expensive, big, and bloated government.
Actually that really depends on many factors rather then just 1/3 of your income going to Government. Often Progressive tax systems state X money over Y is taxed at a higher rate, and then over Z etc.
Like I said, you sound young, you probably just don’t know any better, so let me give you another example of why I don’t want the government having more of my money. Let’s look at social security.
I paid 7,960.80 into social security this year. My employer matches that amount…so technically I paid 15,921.6 into social security. The program is going to be broke and probably paying out a fraction of what its promising by the time I’m old enough to collect. You know what sucks? Being legally forced to put almost 16,000 dollars into a failing investment this year.
Likewise if I were to put that money into an investment account for myself and average 7% returns for 25 years. SS won’t even cover a 2% draw down rate on what I could have saved on my own. Arguing for them to take more of your money and control more of your life is really f~~~ing stupid, unless you’ve got some plan to milk the government for way more than you contribute, in which case you are either legitimately disabled and need the help or you are absolute trash.
The thing about the Illegals is the plan of deporting 11 million People is an impossible feat which will violate the rights of Citizens in the process. So legal Citizens in the Illegal looking camp (like Mexicans or others from Latin America) will get frisked on the basis of Race even when they are Innocent. And the best analogy i can make to it is George Bush after 9/11 punishing Citizens for the action of a couple Terrorists by further stripping away the rights of Citizens. In order to try to scope out all Terror (which is not occuring from the Government to the People) you need to spy on Citizens who have committed nor suspected of committing a crime.

The ATF declared the bump stock to be legal. It do not take a genius to figure out one a government organization tasked with regulating guns would legalize an add-on to guns which allows guns to fire at a high rate with no accuracy.

Depends on the specific area as some areas Spanish is more common but there is no such thing as a National Language but rather a more spoken one.
