5. The entire plot is based on the rebels running away on a ship cloaked in a shield in a race against time and fuel level. Really???? This is the intelligence level at Disney. You are releasing a film of a legendary franchise and your plot is tied to the amount of gas the ship has? Have these ships always run on fuel?
Yeah this was pretty retarded…I always thought they were run off fusion reactors…in which case “OMG WE HAVE 6 HOURS OF FUEL LEFT” was beyond ridiculous. Additionally, they were out in space. As far as I know you don’t have any wind resistance or drag or any of that s~~~…wouldn’t “running out of fuel” just mean you lost all your life support systems, couldn’t redirect your course of travel, and continued on in a straight line until you hit something?
1. Light speed kills an entire fleet? Seriously wtf? Does Disney realize they just made snoke, the emperor, Vader, Leia, Luke, Han Solo, and every single general/commander look like total idiots after this stunt. If putting a droid inside a ship and instructing it to jump to light speed at an entire fleet was all it took to win a war, then why the f~~~ is there any conflict at all. Seems to me there is no need for jedi at all since Disney has just informed us light speed is the most powerful force in the galaxy.
Off of wookiepedia…
Hyperspace was an alternate dimension that could only be reached by traveling at or faster than the speed of light. Hyperdrives enabled starships to travel through hyperspace lanes across great distances, enabling travel and exploration throughout the galaxy.
So basically Hodo was such a badass she was able to magically wipe out an enemy fleet from another dimension, or they just s~~~ on what hyperspace was because with what they turned it into any tiny piece of space debris floating around in space would decimate any ship that hit it moving at light speed.
When she first turned the ship around I thought she was just going to attempt to slow motion ram it…take a bunch of hits, probably not accomplish much but by the freighters time to land…but nah…that had to make it dumb lol.

Anonymous3Why the f~~~ would she not tell Poe the plan with the escape pods?
[] Seems to me feminist propaganda rules that now an unproven female commander that comes out of nowhere must looked wiser than a proven, honorable fighter pilot painted as a reckless dude. That was my impression also. They tried to apply the “toxic masculinity” concept. Somehow men are dangerous (because courage, sacrifice and military objectives), while women are competent (because feelings, retreat, avoid confrontation, hope, and love).
I just saw it. I think Manfred’s comments (throughout the thread) nailed it. Silly major plot points (“we’re just barely staying ahead of the baddies but running out of fuel!” / “go find a code breaker!”), too many women in, well, every role (just not realistic) and overall, largely forgettable. The final act was, admittedly, interesting – some genuine tension of the “how are they going to get out of this?” variety, which was UTTERLY lacking in Force Awakens – but as a whole, not a patch on Rogue One. O and at least Rey is now identified as Kylo’s equal and less of the Mary Sue that Faust so accurately described her to be (most sensible thing he’s said).
And poorly executed in parts. Too much comedy near the beginning, the cameo from Maz (the chick with goggles) was garbage, and at the end Luke’s ‘death’ while appropriate from a narrative perspective, was just s~~~tily directed. Compare, not just to Yoda’s death in RotJ, but Ugway in Kung Fu Panda. THAT’S how you have a master ascend to a higher level. Luke just fell off a rock and evaporated done so poorly, they then needed an exposition scene where Rey explains wtf just happened.
If you’re skipping it, you ain’t missing anything.
HERE’S a savage review from news.com that is right on the money.

Anonymous14Luke died??? WTFF???? I am so done with the new films and Disney. Crimeny!!!!!!
Luke died???
I’ve read that the actor, Mark Hamill(?), didn’t even know his character had died until he watched the premiere. The directors kept that plot point from him during filming and handled what was needed in post-production.
Do not date. Do not impregnate. Do not co-habitate. Above all, do not marry. Reclaim and never again surrender your personal sovereignty.
meh. I am done supporting such crap producing industries. I wonder when movies will just become extensions of social media? Perhaps that is already happening–I am do not follow either so I would not know.

Anonymous3Shiny,
That review nailed it. They did kill every riddle and reboot the series.
People where discussing the origin of Snoke, eagerly waiting for the reveal: they spit on them.
This movie is made to spit on the fans of the old movies: all classic MALE characters are now dead!
This movie is made to spit on the fans that try to solve the mysteries. Its not that they plainly dismiss them, it appears that they purposely cut them of in scorn. Who the hell as Snoke? Never mind, we kill him.
The only, ONLY, good thing was that they listened to ONE issue raised with the previous movie: why Kylo used that stupid mask.
I could only laugh as Snoke made fun of him, voicing what everybody with sense was saying all along.Shiny,

I could only laugh as Snoke made fun of him, voicing what everybody with sense was saying all along. While those whom made this film were so focused on insult white men, especially older white men were Star Wars fans, the forgot some of the “cultural sensitivities” other people have.
With this movie Disney may have just p~~~ed off the southeast Asian markets, such as China, South Korea, and Japan. The reason for this is three fold, all dealing with their new character.
It is likely many Star Wars fans were hoping that Finn would either start a relationship with Rey, Poe, or maybe both (The Guy Richie Sherlock Holmes movies may such a love triangle work). Unfortunately, that did not happen.
Instead, Finn was given a “asian” love interest whom was not even an ‘eight’ that was meant to be a tragic love interesting whom dies at the end of the movie.
Southeastern asians have serious issues when it comes to matters of their pride.
Some of those whom made this film erroneously believe that almost western white men are born racist, this is false. But, there are a lot of racists in southeast Asia whom hate blacks, especially black men, and they consider any comments which question them to be an insult to their pride. Finn, a black man, being given an asian woman as a love interest is going to p~~~ off these asian racists. To add to this the asian woman in question does not look at good as the other main actresses in the movie, as such the asian women audience will likely feel insulted. Also, since this character was killed at the end of the film the asian audience in general may feel insulted that an asian character was introduced solely as an attempt to pander to the asian markets, only to be killed off at the end of the film.
If one wants to market to a group, on has to first understand the likes and dislikes of that group.
In effect, this film has insulted the old fanbase while destroying the chance of creating any large fanbases in new markets due to poor production decisions.

Regarding the racism against blacks by Asians… as I’ve said my ex wife was Asian. I’ve always been attracted to the Asian girls. And I can confirm this is absolutely true.
That said THe Force Awakems time span was like a couple of days and this movie picks up directly after and is the next couple of days… so a lot of major characters died in less than a week. Bad few days in the Star Wars universe.
Also that Rose bitch is ugly as f~~~. If Asian women are p~~~ed by her casting they have every right to be.
S(J)tar Wars sucks bantha b~~~~.

In the eyes of SJWs only western white men can be bigots and no one else. This oversight is going to cost the SJWs whom oversaw the making of this film a lot of money.

Another reason why this film sucks.

I would have expected that they cast someone better looking for the role. Clearly those overseeing the film wanted to make a statement that only they supported.

The Social Justice Wars film is not being accepted as likely the producers of the film had hoped.

It will cost them a lot of money because myself and others are refusing to see any of these new Star Wars movies. I will not contribute a dollar to the butchering of my favorite child hood trilogy.

and less of the Mary Sue that Faust so accurately described her to be (most sensible thing he’s said).
Sadly, from the reviews I am listening to and reading, from a literary standpoint Rey is more a Mary Sue in The Last Jedi.
Instead of tying Rey to some force family line, the producers of the movie made her parents out to be drug junkies whom sold her into slavery. (Any salvaging of this story, if that is possible, will be to reveal those are not Rey’s real parents.)
This means her force powers are still mystery and even more mystery.
In doing so, those whom made The Last Jedi did the reverse of Empire Strikes Back.
In The Empire Strikes Back, by Vader revealing to Luke that Luke is his son, instantly this explains almost everything about how and why all the major players in the Star Wars movies in Episode 4 and 5 react towards Luke. This explains why Vader was after Luke. Why Palpatine wanted to kill Luke. Why Luke was so powerful in the force. Why Obiwan wanted to train Luke. And why Yoda was hesitant to train Luke.
That is how you write a plot twist.
The one line, by Vader, “No Luke. I am your father.”, offered one of the best plot twists and payoffs in cinematic history.
On the other hand, The Last Jedi is reported not to answer any of the really important origin questions about Rey, Snoke, or anyone else. Either the answers were insulting and make no sense, such as Rey. Or, there were no answers, Snoke.
The producers of the film did not just drop the ball, but they tossed the ball off a cliff and demanded the audience go get it.
It’s a trap !

Anonymous3To save time to producers and fans alike, here are the major plot events of the next star wars movie:
Chewbacca dies.
Its the only male like character remaining. The fact that he is a furball saved him, but now he has got to go. He will be replaced by a more “merchandable” character.
Meet the Chewbacca replacement: porg

The new rebellion small attack ships will be inspired by a totally different source:

Poe has learned his lesson. He now retreats whenever one rebellion pilot is killed. Unfortunately there are 4 battles killing all of the rebellion pilots. All the 4 remaining from the last movie…

The rebellion is almost crushed when Rey becomes Goddess like powerful. She hits the first order right where it hurts.

There will be a new feminist hope for the galaxy…
only to be killed off at the end of the film.
Very good assessment of the possible reaction among some Asians, but Rose didn’t die: she was clearly alive at the end.
I suspect this was tacked on. She had a genuine death scene – head lolling to the side in classic style – but I guess they re-thought it, like they ‘added’ Luke’s death without telling Mark Hamill.

There should be a law tantamount to a hate/war crime for that Old Bill. Everything I am reading about this new installment truly disgusts me.
Without Hamill/Luke Skywalker, none of this would have happened. He was the poor farm boy that started it all and to do that to him and his character is such a dick punch of galactic magnitude.
meh. I am done supporting such crap producing industries. I wonder when movies will just become extensions of social media? Perhaps that is already happening–I am do not follow either so I would not know.
Sir, I fully support your decision and also am on perma-boycott of anything and everything Disney Star Wars movies.
It’s a trap !
A freaking tuna clap trap.
Some good news. It seems that someone in charge of Disney must of seen The Last Jedi a few weeks before it was released to theaters because it is being reported that JJ Abrams being put in charge of both heading the writing and directing for Star Wars IX: http://www.starwars.com/news/j-j-abrams-to-write-and-direct-star-wars-episode-ix
I highly doubt the President of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, made this call because she openly stated her dislike for the white male demographic that Star Wars had. She had creative control and closely oversaw the making of The Last Jedi.
Someone above Kennedy likely made this call, meaning those heading Disney are probably unhappy with her for the possibility of harming the golden goose that is the Star Wars franchise.
Love him or hate him JJ Abrams knows his craft in storytelling and directing. He got the Star Trek reboot film right. He clearly had plans for the Force Awakens plotlines in the trilogy that was thrown away in The Last Jedi.
He might consider The Last Jedi to be an insult to his work.
I look forward to see how he can repair this mess.
If I was JJ Abrams, I would write off The Last Jedi as a bad force vision by Rey during her training with Luke and start over where Episode Seven: The Force Awakens left off.
Mark Hamill might come back if he is allowed to help write the script.
With JJ Abrams back in the pilot seat, I doubt Disney will trying to create a CGI Leia. With Carrie Fisher dead doing so would be in bad taste.

Thank you for that Faust.
You’re welcome, GK.
With JJ Abrams back in charge, all the fan theories are still possible.
He and his team oversaw an awesome time travel story with the Star Trek reboot film. Then, he and his team followed up that film with an interesting take on Khan in a film that was a homage to Wraith of Khan without being a ripoff.
I felt that The Force Awakens was a respectful homage to the Star Wars movies before it. Sure Han died in the film, but his character was treated respectfully. Also, the First Order in that film were not idiots. In addition Poe and his fighter squad were cool.
And Kylo was what we expect a in-universe force using Vader fanboy would be like. Sort of like Dark Helmet, only more sad and less funny.
