    “That is PT bulls~~~.”

It’s also in the Old Republic era. So it’s been in place since the Jedi’s inception almost. Things don’t stand that long without very good reason.

As to whether Rey is a Mary Sue, I completely disagree. She’s a blockbuster action hero protagonist strong in the force who has one Mary Sue moment. That is when she fixes the Falcon mid flight when Han couldn’t and he himself had a WTF look on his face. That moment broke my suspension of disbelief,

I don’t think people here really understand what a true Mary Sue is, and I don’t like it when people over use the term. It’s not just a hyper competent protagonist. It’s one who dominates the story to the point of rendering the rest of the cast practically useless. Who doesn’t struggle at all. Who has no flaws or arc – (Rey ran away from the lightsaber due to a character flaw which was later overcome). Mary Sue’s don’t have that s~~~.They don’t run away from power and just think its cool. Look at Bella Swan’s vampire transformation for example. Look at Eragon’s “elf” transformation.

Rey is at the higher end of what’s acceptable in a competent protagonist. But a Mary Sue? No.

Red Pill Philosophy (youtube) was talking about how its an example of feminists rejecting femininity and male leadership when she complained about Finn taking her hand. When the reality is that she’s been living in social isolation for a very long time. That kind of instant human contact is going to feel weird at first. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

The bottom line is I could have either have paid good money to see Star Wars through a redpill lens, or I could have left it at the door, enjoy some nice fun escapism and go back to the real world’s problems at the end of it. The sad state of gender relations will still be waiting for me when the films over.

Only when a film or shot is so feminist I can’t get past it is there a problem. Example: CBS’s Supergirl. My god that pilot was horrible.

Quote: ON MY PLANET FEMALES KNEEL BEFORE MALES!!
Supergirl – THIS IS NOT YOUR PLANET!!

    (Actual line)

Alot of this topic really reminds me of Anita Sarkessian, someone who can never take off her feminist viewing lens and always has to criticize on that basis.

If I was like that, never being able to sit down and enjoy modern stories cos “too much strong woman”, I think I’d go crazy. Maybe it’s because I like to see a kickass, trustworthy, beautiful, heroic amazing woman who would die for a man SOMEWHERE, because I sure as f~~~ don’t see em in real life.

As for female jedi, If anyone follows the EU, that’s already well trodden ground. Satele Shan and Nomi Sunrider were Grandmasters of the Jedi order in fact.
The former being able to actually catch a lightsaber blade with her bare hands.

I’m the kinda dude who’d think that was awesome. But there’s obviously some who would think BOO HISS MARY SUE. It’s like jeeez man Chill out.

By that time, Obiwan was a weird, sexless monk, whom had purged his emotions, and lived in a desert.

Admit it. You walked into that one. ?

There is proof of none of this. At the release of Star Wars, Obi-Wan is slightly mysterious. If he had purged his emotions, wouldn’t he just leave Luke to the Tuskens? Why was he so kind to the droids? People only think he’s weird because he lives alone. Not a very good reason. Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru obviously know him and things about him, which the stupid PT contradicts.

We were not given a direct explanation for her abilities, it is clear this will be explained in the next movie.

The writers even played with that.

They have to back peddle to fix a character on God mode and have to make her likeable and vulnerable and explain why she’s the only Star Wars character to do it. How are they going to do that when she’s already bitchy and can do everything? A 3rd grade fan fiction reason, that’s how. Oh, and grrrll pwwrrr.

    This is horse c~~~ writing.

    “That is PT bulls~~~.”

    Yes. Yes it was.

It’s also in the Old Republic era. So it’s been in place since the Jedi’s inception almost. Things don’t stand that long without very good reason.

In cas you haven’t guessed, I’m not a big fan of the EU either. I shouldn’t need external source to understand a movie. Plinkett’s reviews. Now.

As to whether Rey is a Mary Sue, I completely disagree.

She’s a blockbuster action hero protagonist strong in the force who has one Mary Sue moment.

    One Mary Sue moment?

    1. Professional rapeller spelunker
    2. Pofessional scavenger
    3. Expert pilot
    4. Skilled hand-to-hand combatant
    5. Learns jedi mind trick and mind probe 10 minutes after learning about the force
    6. Crack blaster shot
    7. Skilled lightsaber duelist
    8. Speaks droid and wookie
    9. Morally superior to males

She is a feminsit we dream. Try watching the movie with your eyes instead of your ass.

That is when she fixes the Falcon mid flight when Han couldn’t and he himself had a WTF look on his face. That moment broke my suspension of disbelief,

Did you read a God damned thing I typed? How again did she know and fix a heavily modified ship better than it’s two owners who had it for decades? This is beyond Mary Sue, it’s f~~~ing magic.

I don’t think people here really understand what a true Mary Sue is,

    That would be you.

and I don’t like it when people over use the term.

Who give a f~~~ what you like?

It’s not just a hyper competent protagonist. It’s one who dominates the story to the point of rendering the rest of the cast practically useless. Who doesn’t struggle at all. Who has no flaws or arc – (Rey ran away from the lightsaber due to a character flaw which was later overcome). Mary Sue’s don’t have that s~~~.

She didn’t struggle you dope. She could do everything. I listed it above. Can you read? Arc? Do tell how Ms. Perfedts ‘arc’ has anywhere to go in 8 and 9.

. Look at Bella Swan’s vampire transformation for example.

    Really? I’m a man and I haven’t seen that.

Rey is at the higher end of what’s acceptable in a competent protagonist. But a Mary Sue? No.

Rey is over powered. Now that the hype has worn off, more and more people on YouTube and interwebz articles are showing it. Why couldn’t Luke, a direct descendant of Anakin Skywalker do any of these things?

The bottom line is I could have either have paid good money to see Star Wars through a redpill lens, or I could have left it at the door, enjoy some nice fun escapism and go back to the real world’s problems at the end of it. The sad state of gender relations will still be waiting for me when the films over.

I went to the movie wanting to enjoy it. To get lost in Star Wars again. It didn’t happen.

We are in 100% agreement on this.

Alot of this topic really reminds me of Anita Sarkessian, someone who can never take off her feminist viewing lens and always has to criticize on that basis.

You don’t say? Am I censoring comments? Lobbying the film industry to change movies to suit my taste? Stealing money? Lying? Having a movie made about me for being a lying, hypocrite crybaby?

    No. Try again.

Maybe it’s because I like to see a kickass, trustworthy, beautiful, heroic amazing woman who would die for a man SOMEWHERE, because I sure as f~~~ don’t see em in real life.

Which also furthers my point. Women think they are Rey. Meanwhile in real life; they can’t do 2 pushups, run 1/4 of mile without going in to cardiac arrest or carry a gallon of milk.

As for female jedi, If anyone follows the EU, that’s already well trodden ground. Satele Shan and Nomi Sunrider were Grandmasters of the Jedi order in fact.
The former being able to actually catch a lightsaber blade with her bare hands.

A female Jedi who can catch a blade of pure energy in her bare hands?!

I’m shocked that no male Jedi can do it. Really. I am.

If this is your idea of a movie that should be boycotted because it is feminized, maybe you should just stop watching any new movies. This didn’t come off as anymore feminized than any other movie that gets released anymore. I was just glad she wasn’t presented as some half naked force master chick that us dumb men are supposed to droll over. Romance was kept to a bare minimum and her abilities can at least be partially explained. Yes, I am most agreeing with Faust for science here.

Get around the interwebz. People are finally calling the movie for what it is now that the hype has died down. This is the last time I’m saying this.

Does it bother me that Star Wars is being used by Hollyweird to push it’s ‘progressive’ agenda?
    Yes.

And yes, movies are one of my hobbies. After this one, I can tell you, there will be no more midnight viewings. Not. Ever. Why be tired and let down at work?

“In cas you haven’t guessed, I’m not a big fan of the EU either. ”

I don’t give a s~~~. The point is it goes well beyond the PT and has been used in critically acclaimed SW media. Lucas had Anakin’s fall planned out when he made the originals.

    .1) “Professional rapeller spelunker”

No different to Luke doing death defying s~~~ on Tatooine.
“Will we be able to pull up in time? It’ll be just like back home”. – Luke.

    “2. Pofessional scavenger”

So were half the people in Jakku. She made crap money from scavenging. Technically a professional.

    “3. Expert pilot”

So was Anakin as a kid, so was Luke. The force guided her. Luke was able to survive a starship battle with no experience in an X wing when many pros died.

    “4. Skilled hand-to-hand combatant”

She had to survive on her own in a s~~~hole. Luke had a stable family so had less need to learn to fend for himself.

“5. Learns jedi mind trick and mind probe 10 minutes after learning about the force”

It’s never been stated that the JMT is a difficult thing to learn.

    “6. Crack blaster shot”

Shooting at Kylo from point blank range doesnt make her a crack blaster shot.

    7. Skilled lightsaber duelist

She was running for most of the duel. And Finn, who has no force abilities was a skilled lightsaber duelist too. Kylo was wounded after being hit by a weapon shown to knock stormtroopers off their feet with its power which han kept praising. mentally screwed up from killing his dad, and softened up from fghting Finn. Disney gave every excuse for why Rey should win.

    “8. Speaks droid and wookie”
She doesn’t speak either. She UNDERSTANDS them. Which most SW characters do. She never once spoke in either. It’s one of those basis suspension of disbelief things. It’s fantasy f~~~o.

    9. Morally superior to males”

Morally superior to the man who risked his life to save his son? No. Morally superior to the Indian pilot who owned Finn’s Jacket? In what sense? Where was the immorality in him? Where did the story take the side of her over men, besides the villain, Kylo Ren, and the conflicted soldier with a dark past, Finn?

“She is a feminsit we dream. Try watching the movie with your eyes instead of your ass.”

Yeah I was ass up looking at the movie dat way. How did you know?

“Did you read a God damned thing I typed? How again did she know and fix a heavily modified ship better than it’s two owners who had it for decades? This is beyond Mary Sue, it’s f~~~ing magic. “

Han was distracted and Chewie was wounded as I recall. And she’s been around components her whole life. And its likely a call back to Anakin’s talent for “fixing things”. It’s a Mary Sue moment. But that’s just a moment.

“Who give a f~~~ what you like?”

Overuse of “Mary Sue” shows when it comes to writing, that you’re stuck in juvenile fanfiction thinking. Mary Sue is a fanfiction term and it takes alot ALOT to make one in an original story. Why? Because protagonists are supposed to be special. They’re supposed to be amazing. Thats why the story’s about them.

“Why couldn’t Luke, a direct descendant of Anakin Skywalker do any of these things?”

What,, like make a one in a billion shot without his targeting computer, and keeping up with professional X wing pilots after his first time in one? Those kind of things?

“I went to the movie wanting to enjoy it. To get lost in Star Wars again. It didn’t happen. ”

I’m betting if Rey were male, you would have. Because you’re viewing it through a red pill lens.

“You don’t say? Am I censoring comments? Lobbying the film industry to change movies to suit my taste? Stealing money? Lying? Having a movie made about me for being a lying, hypocrite crybaby? ”

I’m saying you whine like she does over fictional s~~~ that doesn’t matter in real life. Feminist propaganda? What, as in women aspiring to be like Rey? Good. Better than a manhating harpie. Or a shallow narcissistic f~~~wit as a role model.

“Women think they are Rey. “

Good. Maybe they’ll think about being better people.

“Meanwhile in real life; they can’t do 2 pushups, run 1/4 of mile without going in to cardiac arrest or carry a gallon of milk.”

Well I can’t fly like Superman, can’t fight like The Batman, it’s not about being like them physically, it’s about the personality, the morality. That’s the lesson.

“A female Jedi who can catch a blade of pure energy in her bare hands?!

I’m shocked that no male Jedi can do it. Really. I am.”

Yoda used the same technique on Sideous’ force lightning. Energy absorbtion, or “Tutaminis”. Sideous’ lightning was so strong it warped Windu’s lightsaber in the novelization. So it’s a comparable feat. And while Satele isn’t 800, she has premium genetics. (Revan+ Bastila Shan strongest jedi of their era)

The bottom line: It’s just a f~~~ing movie. It’s not even worth arguing over.

Rey is at the higher end of what’s acceptable in a competent protagonist. But a Mary Sue? No.

Unbelievableyetnot, thank you for your post. Finally, someone else understands what I have been trying to say.

As a character Rey’s flaw was so apparent that many overlooked it. She was willing to settle for the life she was in, which was just barely surviving, as she waited for someone to come whom likely wasn’t. That is a very feminine flaw. Fortunately, she realized no one was coming and she moved on with her life.

Also, Rey was kidnapped, and interrogated.

And there were a few other WTF moments from the rest crew. My four big complaints are from Han. One was the way he talked about the crew he had whom died capturing those rathtars.

Two, him transporting something as dangerous as rathtars. Finn made a very good point on this. Rathtars make rancors look like cute, little puppies.

Three, Han going to lightspeed, while inside a hanger. Though, he did go through the exit of the hanger.

Four, Han exiting the Falcon from hyperspace in the atmosphere of the Starkiller planet. That is considered so insane and dangerous that even those with force abilities would not attempt. And Han did not have the force to help him.

So, one can nitpick the other characters, as well.

That being said, I still enjoyed the movie.

    @unbelievable

Yet you seem to have trouble, when some of us points out it’s giant flaws, in plot, characters, and writing.

Anyone interesting finding out how much a Mary Sue, Rey is, should simply check out writer’s Mary Sue tests, there are plenty on the net, where you through a long set of check list plot in their traits, and their affects on the universe, plot, affinity between good and bad, and their ideals, and how their duality is to the direct opposite is, also takes note in treatment between characters, of character in question, whether there are double standards, or not.

    MaRey Sue.

    Alright, but he’s paying.

And here I was hoping we would split the check. 😉

In all seriousness though, does this movie really bother you more than others? Im under the impression watching movies is one of your hobbies.

I know. You made some good points. Rey was not half naked. Actually, her clothing was very nice for what she was going for. So, she was not there as eyecandy, but as a character. And I respect that for the production team for not going there.

Also, there was not romantic overtones to her character. That is a very unMary Sueish about her.

Anyone interesting finding out how much a Mary Sue, Rey is, should simply check out writer’s Mary Sue tests, there are plenty on the net,

I did use that test on Rey.

    Let’s look at the results.

Mary Sues tend to have a bland personality.

Rey has a fairly good personality. Though, she is rough around the edges. She has the type of personality I would expect from a good person in the bad situation she finds herself in.

Personality wise, Rey is not Mary Sueish.

On social issues. Mary Sues tend to be persuasive, have lots of friends, and draw the attention of others. Except for the interrogation scene at the end, including the mind trick, she is not very persuasive. She had no friends on Jakku. And the only time she got attention was after she demonstrated she had some skills that could be useful.

At first, when Han and Chewy took back the Falcon, they were going to lock up Rey and Finn, and dump them on the next inhabited planet. Han only changed his mind after Rey show Han that she was useful in fixing the Falcon.

Looks. Mary Sues tend to be the most beautiful characters on the story. She is also in some of the skimpiest clothing in the story.

Don’t get me wrong, Daisy Ridley (actress for Rey) is nice to look at, and she is easy on the eyes. But the sexiest person in Episode Seven has to be Adam Driver (actor for Kylo Ren). Even if the Kylo Ren character is a emo-manchild, once Kylo Ren took off the mask, with his normal voice, it was just, whoa doctor. Kylo wearing black only makes him look hotter, and that scar he has at the end of the might give him that Zuko (Avatar: The Last Airbender) sexiness.

When it comes to clothing, Rey’s clothing was not skimpy but functional for a desert environment. She looked nice, but she was clearly not eyecandy.

So, Rey is not a Mary Sue that way.

Romance. When it comes to romance the Mary Sue usually has everyone wanting to date with her, and she dates with everyone.

There were no romantic overtones for Rey in episode seven.

Skills, Mary Sue tend to be good at everything, and eclipse everyone in skills.

Now, this requires some explanation. Except for the sudden force abilities, the rest of Rey’s skills can be explained. She survived as a scavenger, so she would know how to make broken electronics work. She is a pilot, she had driven a landspeeder for likely years. And she had to know how to fight to survive on Jakku.

Kylo soundly beat her and captured her in the middle of the movie. Also, she is a good pilot, but next to Peo, she is not that good.

You know that destroyed Star Destroyer that Rey flew the Falcon through. Rey was shown scavenging that very ship at the beginning of the movie. Rey probably has spent years savaging from that ship, and she likely knows every inch it. She memorized the maze. That was not so much good piloting as she exactly where she was going.

Han and Chewy are better mechanics than Rey.

Finn is a trained fighter. Rey is likely not. Finn just needed a blaster and all he had was a lightsaber. (Yes. I get the irony to what I am saying.)

And Kylo was severely injured when Rey fought him at the end of the movie. That was not a clear a victory.

Also, Rey treats people that are nice to her equally. She treats men and women equally. I enjoyed Rey’s character for this. That is not a modern feminist trait.

So, Rey is not a Mary Sue.

Also, the advertising bait and switch between Finn and Rey was not the fault of those characters. That was the advertises. Frankly, Rey and Finn were both well rounded characters that had good plot arcs in the movie.

As such, I look forward to see episodes 8 and 9.

I don’t give a s~~~. The point is it goes well beyond the PT and has been used in critically acclaimed SW media. Lucas had Anakin’s fall planned out when he made the originals.

What’s your point? This movie made the entire EU non-cannon

No different to Luke doing death defying s~~~ on Tatooine.
“Will we be able to pull up in time? It’ll be just like back home”. – Luke.

I’m assuming you mean “It’l be just like Beggars Canyon back home”? It is constantly re-iterated through the movie that Luke is a good pilot and that it was something he did in his spare time.

“I understand you’ve become quite a good pilot yourself”.
“Luke is the best bush pilot in the Outer Rim Territories“.
“If you have half your fathers talent you’ll do fine.”
“Who’s gonna fly it kid, you” – “You bet I could, I’m not such a bad pilot myself!”

Notice how Luke does not inflate his skills, he only says that he is capable. Luke at no time flew a bulky freighter through the insides of a Star Destroyer. He went up with with a sqaudron, had help from his friends (Biggs lost his life), Han covered his six and he still needed a little help from Obi-Wans spirit (don’t forget, Obi-Wan was teaching him. He didn’t just learn about it then master it). Did Luke jump in the pilot seat when they escaped Mos Eisley? No, he let the guy who knew the ship fly the God damned thing. This is a capable pilot, not an expert pilot.

So were half the people in Jakku. She made crap money from scavenging. Technically a professional.

So? She was Sanford and Son. Woop Dee Doo.

So was Anakin as a kid, so was Luke. The force guided her. Luke was able to survive a starship battle with no experience in an X wing when many pros died.

And most people hated Anakin and the ‘chosen one’ bulls~~~. Don’t give me the ‘becasue the force’ argument. Wedge was just as young as Luke? Did the force protect him? What about the Y-wing that made it out? See the aforementioned stuff I said about Luke and piloting. Are you really going to compare 8 year old Anakin and Luke? Come on.

She had to survive on her own in a s~~~hole. Luke had a stable family so had less need to learn to fend for himself.

Who taught her? How did she have the energy to learn when her diet consisted of droplets of water and a muffin? Which she got by scrapping all day? When did she have the time and energy to learn staff combat?

Yeah, those Tuskens roaming around, they were completely harmless….

It’s never been stated that the JMT is a difficult thing to learn.

It has been shown in the f~~~ing movies that you have to train to master it you dolt. When did Luke do it? Third movie. They show Obi-Wan, a fully trained Jedi using it. When could Rey do it? 10 minutes after learning that the force even existed and under duress.

Shooting at Kylo from point blank range doesnt make her a crack blaster shot.

No, stupid, I’m talking about after the bitch figured out to disengage the safety. She started getting one shot kills on Stormtroopers. Have you ever handled a firearm? If I gave one to a novice, she’s not getting one shot kills in a combat situation.

Ah, the old ‘Kylo was injured’ argument. Mentally screwed up from killing his dad? He seemed grateful. “Thank you”. Why was she even dueling in the first place? Shouldn’t she have been injured after she was thrown against that tree? After Vader threw all that s~~~ at Luke he was bloody and bruised and was shortly dismembered. Why not Rey? Becasue Mary Sue. She kicks him and he’s on the ground quivering like a pussy. Give me a feminist break. Given Kylo’s state form what I saw on screen and his level of training, he still should have wiped the floor with someone who never held a lightsaber in her f~~~ing life.

She doesn’t speak either. She UNDERSTANDS them. Which most SW characters do. She never once spoke in either. It’s one of those basis suspension of disbelief things. It’s fantasy f~~~o.

    Oh?

“This droid says you have his masters jacket”.

    Fail.

Yeah, it’s fantasy alright. A feminist one.

Name one instance where she isn’t. Finn is a bumbling fool and Han can’t fix a ship he’s owned for decades. Like standard Disney fare, she has her white knight and they even emasculated Han Solo: “Women always know when you’re lying.”

    Puke.

Yeah I was ass up looking at the movie dat way. How did you know?

They way you defend this character like the retards on YouTube and disqus. I thought I was on mgtow.com

Han was distracted and Chewie was wounded as I recall. And she’s been around components her whole life. And its likely a call back to Anakin’s talent for “fixing things”. It’s a Mary Sue moment. But that’s just a moment.

I’ve already listed things that make it more than a moment professor.

Overuse of “Mary Sue” shows when it comes to writing, that you’re stuck in juvenile fanfiction thinking.

BWAHAHAHAHA! ME?! That entire movie was f~~~ing fan fiction by Va-JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy. Are you that blind?

What,, like make a one in a billion shot without his targeting computer, and keeping up with professional X wing pilots after his first time in one? Those kind of things?

Again, see the aforementioned things about Luke and the Battle of Yavin. By the way, did you notice that he and Wedge (the young, rookie pilots) were the only two to score kills? What’s your excuse about Wedge again? Plus, it’s one thing Luke was good at. Was he beating the Tusens in hand to hand combat? Beating Dr. Evazans ass in the Cantina? He made a difficult shot with a clear 6 and tons of help. Not hard to believe compared to Rey’s abilities. Mind you, he at least had some tutalage in the force before than instead of zero.

I’m betting if Rey were male, you would have. Because you’re viewing it through a red pill lens.

Ah, the old “If Rey was male I wouldn’t have cared’ argument. Wrong. I liked Finn for the opposite reasons. He was brave, yet vulnerable. An overpowered character is an overpowered character. Not only that, it’s been proven that Va-JJ Abrams cast these people based on their gender and color, not becasue it made the story any better. Divers~~~ty cripples the creative spark.

I’m saying you whine like she does over fictional s~~~ that doesn’t matter in real life. Feminist propaganda? What, as in women aspiring to be like Rey? Good. Better than a manhating harpie. Or a shallow narcissistic f~~~wit as a role model.

Again, am I at mgtow.com? This TLDR response by you isn’t whining? If it doesn’t matter in real life, why are you here? Whining is you going on a great lengths to defend anything Star Wars even though it might be a turd holding a lightsaber. Don’t pull that “I’m a loser and your not”, that’s what females do. I would expect more from a member here. Christ.

Good. Maybe they’ll think about being better people.

    Sure, NAWALT Disney.

Well I can’t fly like Superman, can’t fight like The Batman, it’s not about being like them physically, it’s about the personality, the morality. That’s the lesson.

It’s not about being super human or peak human. It’s about a toddler level of physical ability, which most women don’t have.

Yes, I saw ROTS. However, I did see Yoda and Palpatine going blade to blade. At no time did anyone catch anyone elses blade.

The bottom line: It’s just a f~~~ing movie. It’s not even worth arguing over.

Then why the long response? #double standard

    Fuck this planet.

I get what you’re saying and I’ve quite a game series before because I felt it was pushing a progressive agenda down my throat.

    Cool.

I understand why you might like this film. Glad you enjoyed it. I tried to.

I, however, can’t ignore what it is.

Oh, I enjoyed it for a movie, which I guess is a compliment for a movie coming from a guy who doesn’t like many movies. But yeah, withdrawing our patronage to a series is the best way to say “no” to the creators of entertainment. I wish more people would do that.

Woman: this movie hurts my feelings. Let’s start a mob and demand it gets fixed. My Twitter friends will help.

Tiga: How about you boycott the sequels and maybe the creators other future films?

    Woman: (look of shock)

    Tiga: Welcome to capitalism.

    Alright, but he’s paying.

And here I was hoping we would split the check. ?

For all the criticism about that company, they do produce good live action movies. The Pirates of the Caribbean film series, the Tron film series, the Marvel Cinematic film series. And Star Wars Episode Seven was pretty good. Not perfect, but good.

There are a things I can complain about that company. But, their live action films are not one of them.

“Anyone interesting finding out how much a Mary Sue, Rey is, should simply check out writer’s Mary Sue tests, there are plenty on the net, where you through a long set of check list plot in their traits, and their affects on the universe, plot, affinity between good and bad, and their ideals, and how their duality is to the direct opposite is, also takes note in treatment between characters, of character in question, whether there are double standards, or not”.

You can’t take a character out of their specific setting, run them by a general checklist, and determine the character’s worth. The point of the Mary Sue test is a general tool for WRITERS. We get a score, use it to look at the character in our stories and make up our own minds. Even the authors of these tests tell you thats what it’s for. MarySue isn’t an objective standard where the line is crossed by a percentage.

    @capwhatever

This movie made the entire EU non-cannon

Only the New Jedi Order canon (post ep 6) was invalidated by this movie.

A bush pilot =/= a star pilot. Luke used speeders at home (like Rey), not starships. And certainly not X wings.

“He didn’t just learn about it then master it)”

Obi Wan gave him minimal training in blaster bolt deflection. He prompted Luke as a ghost. Luke still made the one in a billion shot himself. Rey remembered Maz’s prompting and beat a wounded Kylo Ren.

“She was Sanford and Son. Woop Dee Doo.”

Common traits aren’t Mary Sue traits. Moving on.

“See the aforementioned stuff I said about Luke and piloting.”

    Ditto.

Are you really going to compare 8 year old Anakin and Luke? Come on.

Wedge is one of the most seasoned pilots and he had to retreat. Everyone else got killed besides Luke, first time in an X wing. If he was Rey you’d be losing your s~~~ no doubt.

    “Who taught her?”

Self taught as far as we know. She aint got nothing else to do with her time beyond scavege, eat and practice.

“How did she have the energy to learn when her diet consisted of droplets of water and a muffin?”

Do you know the nutritional contents of space muffins? No. Nipicking much?

“It has been shown in the f~~~ing movies that you have to train to master it you dolt. When did Luke do it? Third movie. They show Obi-Wan, a fully trained Jedi using it.”

When did Luke need to do it before the 3rd movie? The mind tricks never been shown to work on multiple people at once. So he couldn’t use it on Bespin. What opportunity was there in 1 and 2? Against Han? Hans not weak minded. The only one I can think of is against the ice beast in Empire at the beginning, but we don’t know if calming beasts is the same technique.

The real point against that though is Rey did it after Kylo tried invading her mind, She resisted and copied his technique and invaded him back. And so likely repeated that technique with the jedi mind trick. She can do it because she’s already experienced it.

It makes Rey a progidy and possibly a genius at this but not a Mary Sue. Goku from dbz did the Kamehameha after seeing it one time, while it took Master Roshi 50 years to learn it. No one gives a s~~~ because he’s the star. In Neos first fight he was able to be on par with (and surpassed) Morpheus, one of the, if not the most seasoned fighter in the human resistance. That’s why it’s difficult to pin Mary Sue on protagonists and fantasy protagonists especially. They’re meant to be special.

No, stupid, I’m talking about after the bitch figured out to disengage the safety. She started getting one shot kills on Stormtroopers. Have you ever handled a firearm? If I gave one to a novice, she’s not getting one shot kills in a combat situation.”

Nitpicking. Luke got one hit kills too in A New hope.

“Mentally screwed up from killing his dad? He seemed grateful. “Thank you”. “

He was in tears. You’re arguing that he killed his dad and all of a sudden hes right as rain. You’re twisting the story to fit a predetermined, biased conclusion.

Why was she even dueling in the first place?

Cos she’s the f~~~ing main character.

Shouldn’t she have been injured after she was thrown against that tree? ”

Which is why she was out of the Finn vs Kylo fight. That was it’s only narrative purpose.

“After Vader threw all that s~~~ at Luke he was bloody and bruised and was shortly dismembered. ”

Because Luke was up against a SITH LORD and THE CHOSEN ONE. (Lucas had that planned even back then by his own words, even if you don’t like it)

Kylo Ren is a teenage pretender who’s a dark jedi not a sith. Was shot with a bowcaster and wounded by finn. And almost certainly mentally unfocused from just killing his father.

“Why not Rey? Becasue Mary Sue”

This is my last reply to you. Because at this point I realise I’m talking to a brick wall. Disney gives us every reason to buy it and you still conclude Mary Sue.

    .

She kicks him and he’s on the ground quivering like a pussy. Give me a feminist break.

Kylo is still a child in many ways. Hes no older than she is, throws tantrums when he doesnt get his way, and has never been challenged really. He isn’t DarthMaul or Vader.

“Given Kylo’s state form what I saw on screen and his level of training, he still should have wiped the floor with someone who never held a lightsaber in her f~~~ing life.”

His training was incomplete, he’s likely never fought another jedi in many, many years, Snoke probably didn’t bother training him further in that regard (only opponent is Luke as far as he knows and if Kylo fights Luke, Kylo is f~~~ed anyway) now add in all the injuries and fatigue, and the fact that Rey is a force progidy from what we’ve seen, and you get Kylo’s loss.

You’re just bitching because shes female.

    “Oh?

“This droid says you have his masters jacket”.”

Read my post again. I said she understands those languages. Doesn’t speak them. Thats an example of understanding. Most characters in SW understands droids. I don’t recall her understanding Chewbacca.

You’re so quick to rub it in and gloat that you didn’t even read what I typed. That is FAIL.

“Name one instance where she isn’t. Finn is a bumbling fool and Han can’t fix a ship he’s owned for decades. ”

Han was flying. So was distracted. Finn “the bumbling fool” wielded a lightsaber without force powers against a dark jedi without impaling himself. And landed a wound on said dark jedi. Are you s~~~ting me? Bumblingfool? Really?

And do you know what MORAL superiority means? You think it means fixing things? Do you even know what MORALS are?

“What’s your excuse about Wedge again? ”

Wedge had to flee mid battle.

“Was he beating the Tusens in hand to hand combat? Beating Dr. Evazans ass in the Cantina?”

He didn’t have a weapon on him. And didnt know who would jump in. Rey was in familiar territory and attacked by 2 people while armed.

ike standard Disney fare, she has her white knight and they even emasculated Han Solo: “Women always know when you’re lying.””

I didn’t like that line either, but you really think one line emasculates Han solo? Jesus.

Ah, the old “If Rey was male I wouldn’t have cared’ argument. Wrong.

Nothing I can say will cure your lack of self awareness so lets move on.

    “Divers~~~ty cripples the creative spark.”

Forced diversity does. But you have no evidence that this was forced beyond your own biases. What you really mean is hiring woman stars means he must be pandering to feminists. Which is again, you being unable to remove the redpill lens for a mere two hours. It won’t kill ya to do so you know.

    “gain, am I at mgtow.com? ”

You think being a MGTOW means whining about sexism in movies like a feminist? And taking every little thing in a movie as a sign of feminism gone mad? If that were the case, every modern story would be ruined for me.

“This TLDR response by you isn’t whining? If it doesn’t matter in real life, why are you here? Whining is you going on a great lengths to defend anything Star Wars even though it might be a turd holding a lightsaber. Don’t pull that “I’m a loser and your not”, that’s what females do. I would expect more from a member here. Christ.”

You’ve been whining about this film for many pages now. I’m late to the party, I see your points based on no merit and I defend it as a fan of star wars, not as a MGTOW or an MRA. When it comes to those things I only care about real issues.

    Sure, NAWALT Disney.

I said nothing about NAWALT. I said Rey is a better role model than the reality of current female behaviour. You said women may end up thinking theyre Rey as if theres something wrong with that. You think aspiring to be like a hero is gonna make women any worse than they already are?

“It’s about a toddler level of physical ability, which most women don’t have.”

If only that were so. We wouldn’t see so much mother on child violence.

“Yes, I saw ROTS. However, I did see Yoda and Palpatine going blade to blade. At no time did anyone catch anyone elses blade.”

Because it’s a different application of the technique obviously. Satele didn’t do it until her lightsaber was cut in half and she had to. As it’s a risky stunt to pull off.

As for the “double standard”. Here’s the difference, momo.

I’m here as a fan of star wars.
You’re here, and here posting longer than I have because the “feminism” upset you so much its ruined star wars for you.

Who’s taking it more alot seriously? You. The. End.
