I’ve following this thread, reading media reviews and what my friends say. There is a huge divergence of opinion on this movie.

The one thing that decided it for me is a known SJW who I used to work with is tearing the movie a new asshole and not for SJW reasons.

I’ll wait until it comes out on one of the satellite movie channels and watch it in however long it takes for that to happen.

Disney is one of those companies that I like to give as little of my money as possible so I am biased.

Only the New Jedi Order canon (post ep 6) was invalidated by this movie.

So some of the EU is still cannon? Hmmmm. Then let’s see what you said next:

A bush pilot =/= a star pilot. Luke used speeders at home (like Rey), not starships. And certainly not X wings.

So let me guess, you’re going to ignore that T-16 controls are similar to X-Wings? Does the EU not count to help your argument? Don’t bulls~~~ me trying to say Luke only flew around on speeders. Point being, Luke’s hobby was flying at breakneck speeds and shooting small targets. Again, compared to what Rey did, it’s at least in the realm of believability. I would say it’s easier to fly a one man fighter through open space and an open trench by a pilot who did this in his spare time familiar with the controls than a bulky freighter through the inside of another ship with a pilot who knows dick about the ship.

Obi Wan gave him minimal training in blaster bolt deflection. He prompted Luke as a ghost. Luke still made the one in a billion shot himself. Rey remembered Maz’s prompting and beat a wounded Kylo Ren.

Yeah. And the training remote still shot Luke in the ass. Twice. Nor did he fight Darth Vader. Himself? He had tons of help and a clear 6. Read what the f~~~ I typed.

Rey never held a lightsaber in her life and was able to beat someone trained by Luke and Snoke because Maz told her to? Really? Which reminds me, since when are lightsabers anything but a mechanical device? Now you touch it and have visions? What bulls~~~.

Common traits aren’t Mary Sue traits. Moving on.

So ignore all the others. Go it.

Wedge is one of the most seasoned pilots and he had to retreat. Everyone else got killed besides Luke, first time in an X wing. If he was Rey you’d be losing your s~~~ no doubt.

He was? He didn’t seem much older than Luke. More than likely right out of the acadmey. Again, if Rey wasn’t an OP Mary Sue, I’d have no problem. Go back and re-read what I typed about Ellen Ripley you illiterate f~~~.

Self taught as far as we know. She aint got nothing else to do with her time beyond scavege, eat and practice.

Of course she did! And gained proficiency through grrll pwrrr. Again, she barely had enough to eat and drink just to work to have energy to get enough to eat and drink. See the circle there?

Do you know the nutritional contents of space muffins? No. Nipicking much?

Lightsabers are magic now and so are muffins! Was it a magic force muffin? I’m an exercise fanatic. I want to know where her calories came from to work all day and train at night in that environment.

When did Luke need to do it before the 3rd movie?

The mind tricks never been shown to work on multiple people at once. So he couldn’t use it on Bespin. What opportunity was there in 1 and 2? Against Han? Hans not weak minded. The only one I can think of is against the ice beast in Empire at the beginning, but we don’t know if calming beasts is the same technique.

The real point against that though is Rey did it after Kylo tried invading her mind, She resisted and copied his technique and invaded him back. And so likely repeated that technique with the jedi mind trick. She can do it because she’s already experienced it.

Stay on topic. Again. How did she learn all this when everyone else has to train to learn it? I don’t give a f~~~ what she did. I saw the f~~~ing movie. How did she learn it in 10 minutes?

Nitpicking. Luke got one hit kills too in A New hope.

Oh? The entire scene on the Death Star he got all one hit kills? The detention block? The chasm? There were many shots fired. The kills he did get are at least believable as he had some kind of rifle on his landspeeder. As a farmer he probably shot from time to time. There is no reason to believ that is the first time he held a blaster. Rey never held one and becomes Annie Oakley.

He was in tears. You’re arguing that he killed his dad and all of a sudden hes right as rain. You’re twisting the story to fit a predetermined, biased conclusion.

So? You telling me someone trained in the dark arts couldn’t get his s~~~ together for a fight against two f~~~ing novices? That’s why he’s a s~~~ty villian. It was over when the mask came off. Killing his dad seemed to be the deed to push him over the edge.

Cos she’s the f~~~ing main character.

And a s~~~ty one at that.

Which is why she was out of the Finn vs Kylo fight. That was it’s only narrative purpose.

So, she magically recovered while in Empire Luke was a God damned mess after Vader threw space junk at him? Why?

Because Luke was up against a SITH LORD and THE CHOSEN ONE

Kindly, don’t bring PT bulls~~~ into Empire. Not ever again.

AGAIN. Rey had never picked up a lightsaber in her life and was fighting someone who had been trained by Luke AND Snoke. Don’t give me the injury/he was sad bulls~~~. This is feminist wankery at it’s finest.

    .

(Lucas had that planned even back then by his own words, even if you don’t like it)

Had what planned? That Anakin was Space Jesus? That he could turn Star Wars into s~~~ after he fired the people that knew what they were doing? That would be Irvin Kershner and Gary Kurtz.

Kylo Ren is a teenage pretender who’s a dark jedi not a sith. Was shot with a bowcaster and wounded by finn. And almost certainly mentally unfocused from just killing his father.

He was far better trained than a basic grunt and a nobody who had just been thrown against a tree. A good, hell a decent warrior can still fight if he’s hurt. Which he was. Hurt. Not injured.

This is my last reply to you. Because at this point I realise I’m talking to a brick wall. Disney gives us every reason to buy it and you still conclude Mary Sue.

You got slapped in face for over two hours with a floppy, feminist dildo…but I’m the brick wall?

    .

Kylo is still a child in many ways. Hes no older than she is, throws tantrums when he doesnt get his way, and has never been challenged really. He isn’t DarthMaul or Vader.

And Rey is a nobody who never held a lightsaber in her life and learned about the force 20 minutes earlier. I don’t give a f~~~ how many tantrums he threw. He’s trained. She is not.

“Given Kylo’s state form what I saw on screen and his level of training, he still should have wiped the floor with someone who never held a lightsaber in her f~~~ing life.”

His training was incomplete, he’s likely never fought another jedi in many, many years, Snoke probably didn’t bother training him further in that regard (only opponent is Luke as far as he knows and if Kylo fights Luke, Kylo is f~~~ed anyway) now add in all the injuries and fatigue, and the fact that Rey is a force progidy from what we’ve seen, and you get Kylo’s loss.

Bingo skippy! His training. Rey. Is. Not. Trained. At. All.

Who is the brick wall here?

You’re just bitching because shes female.

And you’re pulling everyting you can out of your ass to defend a blatan Mary Sue and a rip off of A New Hope.

Read my post again. I said she understands those languages. Doesn’t speak them. Thats an example of understanding. Most characters in SW understands droids. I don’t recall her understanding Chewbacca.

She did understand Chewbacca and BB-8.

Luke: (Listening to R2 beep) What’s wrong with now? Luke didn’t know R2 said “There are several creatures approaching from the south east”? Why?

Rey: Listnes to BB-8 beep) This droid says you have his masters jacket.

Why did Han always have to translate for Chewbacca? All of sudden Rey understands him?

You’re so quick to rub it in and gloat that you didn’t even read what I typed. That is FAIL.

Daf~~~? Talk about the pot and the kettle. How many times have I repeated myself about Luke and Ellen Ripley. Seriously?

Han was flying. So was distracted. Finn “the bumbling fool” wielded a lightsaber without force powers against a dark jedi without impaling himself. And landed a wound on said dark jedi. Are you s~~~ting me? Bumblingfool? Really?

Yes, how did he do that? Because divers~~~ty?

He also lost to said dark Jedi.

And all that running around, screaming, wanting to get off planet. “Droid please”? I can understand why some people say he’s the Jar Jar of this movie.

And do you know what MORAL superiority means? You think it means fixing things? Do you even know what MORALS are?

I never once said it means fixing things.

And yes, I do know what it means. I’ve been around women long enough to figure that one out. Strange how a female character has this trait. Hmmmm.

Wedge had to flee mid battle.

Ugh. The excuse about why he’s a good pilot for reasons not “becasue force”. Yeah. I can’t read….

He didn’t have a weapon on him.

Out in the dune sea he did. Did you even watch Star Wars?

Rey was in familiar territory and attacked by 2 people while armed.

And this goes back to her ‘self taught’ fighting skills. Couldn’t be one man could it? Had to be two.

I didn’t like that line either, but you really think one line emasculates Han solo? Jesus.

That and he died like a bitch. Han should have went out in a blaze of glory.

Nothing I can say will cure your lack of self awareness so lets move on.

Look who’s taking the moral high ground now? You sure you’re MGTOW? Did you ignore the feminist dildo you were slapped with for 2 hours?

    Forced diversity does.

Right again skippy! Which is exactly what this movie had. Out of the f~~~ing directors own mouth.

But you have no evidence that this was forced beyond your own biases.

    Google or YouTube search:

    Rey Mary Sue

    Then do your f~~~ing homework.

What you really mean is hiring woman stars means he must be pandering to feminists. Which is again, you being unable to remove the redpill lens for a mere two hours. It won’t kill ya to do so you know.

No. An OP Mary Sue is. Which is what Rey is. See above.

You think being a MGTOW means whining about sexism in movies like a feminist? And taking every little thing in a movie as a sign of feminism gone mad? If that were the case, every modern story would be ruined for me.

Sure you can read? We’ve already covered this.

I went to the movie didn’t I? I’m still going to go see Superman even though I think Wonder Woman will be Rey part 2.

You’ve been whining about this film for many pages now. I’m late to the party, I see your points based on no merit and I defend it as a fan of star wars, not as a MGTOW or an MRA. When it comes to those things I only care about real issues.

Don’t pull that “I’m late for the party” s~~~. You typed a long response, so don’t act like you don’t care. Becasue you do. You defend it as a Star Wars fan? That’s your problem. You say I view it through red pill glasses while your viewing it through Star Wars glasses. You want this movie to be good. You and all the other people who won’t see it for what it is. So you pull whatever you can out of your collective asses to defend it.

I said nothing about NAWALT. I said Rey is a better role model than the reality of current female behaviour. You said women may end up thinking theyre Rey as if theres something wrong with that. You think aspiring to be like a hero is gonna make women any worse than they already are?

    Humor is lost on you.

Yes, it’s going to make them worse! As if they don’t already get everything handed to them with no work! Jesus Christ.

If only that were so. We wouldn’t see so much mother on child violence.

Compared to men dips~~~. F~~~ing really? Wow. Women can beat kids, They’re f~~~ing bullies.

Because it’s a different application of the technique obviously. Satele didn’t do it until her lightsaber was cut in half and she had to. As it’s a risky stunt to pull off.

EU has no affect on film. Plinkett. Now.

I’m here as a fan of star wars.

    And that expains much.

You’re here, and here posting longer than I have because the “feminism” upset you so much its ruined star wars for you.

Star Wars started to get ruined at ROTJ. Then it just seemed to decline. Who said it’s ruined for me? I have the theatrical cuts of Star Wars and Empire on DVD. I’m good.

Who’s taking it more alot seriously? You. The. End.

Says the guy who’ll defend a turd holding a lightsaber.

Says the guy who has used every cheap trick to defend a blatant Mary Sue.

Watch the Plinkett reviews. Do some homework now that the hype has died down and people can review this movie with a clear head.

Go pull your moral high ground s~~~ with them.

    Fuck this planet.

About Rey being a Mary Sue: another unbelievable thing is that she successfully steals the lightsaber in the snow from Kylo’s force grip. It would be as if young Anakin used force push against Darth Maul, making him fall into the pit.
However I think the main issue here is not feminism (apart the unnecessary “don’t hold my hand” part) but, like almost everyone stated, the omnipotence of Rey character.

You can’t take a character out of their specific setting, run them by a general checklist, and determine the character’s worth. The point of the Mary Sue test is a general tool for WRITERS. We get a score, use it to look at the character in our stories and make up our own minds. Even the authors of these tests tell you thats what it’s for. MarySue isn’t an objective standard where the line is crossed by a percentage.

Guys, you don’t get to play the Mary Sue card and then refuse to define what a Mary Sue is. It does not work that way.

You accuse Rey of being a Mary Sue. We point out, from lists one what a Mary Sue is, that Rey is not a Mary Sue.

If you want to debate. Debate on the points and details. Name calling and willful ignorance are no defense.

Both Unbelievableyetnot and myself did two different breakdowns of lists. Point for point. On how Rey is not a Mary Sue.

About Rey being a Mary Sue: another unbelievable thing is that she successfully steals the lightsaber in the snow from Kylo’s force grip.

Check page 8 of this thread. I went into detail on this very subject. Basically, by that point Kylo was severely injured and his concentration in the force was all but shot.

However I think the main issue here is not feminism (apart the unnecessary “don’t hold my hand” part)

Would you want a stranger you just met to hold your hand, as you are running for your life? The answer is, no. That is not feminist. That is common sense.

but, like almost everyone stated, the omnipotence of Rey character.

This was already covered, page 8 and 9 of this thread. The only three victories Rey had in that movie was she beat up some thugs that attacked her. She flew through a ruined star destroyer she knew a lot about. And she beat Kylo after Chewy and Finn first worked Kylo over.

I’ll be honest with you. I’ve spent years writing on internet discssion forums.

I can tell the gender of the person from the way they write, their ideas, preoccupations and their style.

I’m sure you’re a woman and this forum doesn’t allow women post here.

I’m following forum protocol you ought not to be here.

Everything about you screams woman: attempts at shaming, your lack of knowedge about gaming despite claiming to be a gamer, your WRONGNESS about Star Wars.

I even looked at that thread you made about campus rapes…… the language in which you described ‘campus rape’ could only have come from a woman…

That’s all hon….just playing my role as a conscientous forum member with my eyes open and my man-sense tingling at the smell of old fake t~~~.

A sign about sexual harassment. Since I’m sure you all are familiar with the vague definition of sexual harassment and all the nonsense these people like to spread, I won’t describe the sign’s content. It is just the usual misandry and belief in the myth of rape culture.

Apparently the university I attend felt the need to teach us how to not rape and put it in a place where we will be using our rape instruments of female oppression just in case us dumb men can’t remember what we use to rape.

Do us dumb men use our dicks to rape?

Only a woman can have made the above strangely worded post…. I suspect you were the person who made that sign and gave it one of your university mangina feminist friends to put in there….

Please continue with your pathetic witchhunt.ñ To me you are just the bitch that said everyone was trying to shame you when we made fun of Facebook. You put on the tough guy act and said you were the one truley going your own way. Maybe you apologized later and that is way you are still here, but it still shows you for the insecure crybaby you are. As far as proof goes that I am a man, I will eventually submit a song to the site that includes my vocals (the thread I made about making music together). Of course, by now you probably think I lied about being a musician too.

All that said, I will not hold a grudge against you for trying to kick me off. I’ll argue with others on the site and I may get harsh or express my opinion without tact, but when the argument is over it is over. I sincerely mean it when I tell someone I hope to get along with them in the future. As far as my faults go, I will admit sometimes I’m not best at placing jokes in appropriate times or places.

This is sad. I knew this movie would divide the fan base further. Instead of a couple of Star Wars fans discussing the new movie. We’ve been arguing about it like retards.

To the best of my knowledge, around the interwebz women seem to take far much more enjoyment that the movie makes men angry than it just being a good Star Wars film.

    Oh well.

Typical female arrogance. Only a woman would try to claim total ownership and control of another person’s activity in a discussion….. ‘us’? Your pussy doesn’t have any controlling power over me…. must be hard to get used to huh? You’re so used to controlling the social interactions of all the men around you aren’t you? I can tell the gender of the person from the way they write, their ideas, preoccupations and their style.

You want to go there. Oh. Hahahaha… I can play that game too.

Men usually discuss in hard facts and logic. For example, a man will say, I think. While women discuss in emotions and feelings. For example, a woman will say, I feel. Both genders use the term, I believe.

But, this is not a hundred percent. It is a bell curve. And good writers know that, and such skilled writers can write in either gender.

In addition, some men can really write stuff that women would think was made by a woman. For example, the writers for the series, Sex In The City (likely the most third wave feminist series ever made) was written by homosexual men.

Now, from your writings, you are young, or at least emotionally immature. You are using name calling and accusations. Both based on using feelings, and not logic.

This leads to three possibilities. You are a young man. You are a woman. Or, you are a troll.

I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say you are a young man.

Now, we are having a wonderful conversation, on the talking points of the Star Wars Episode Seven movie, don’t hi-jack this thread.

I haven’t had a good discussion like this in years.

Now, back to the main topic.

Let’s talk about another aspect of Star Wars that deals with Episode Seven, that it diverges from the EU Book timeline.

When I learned that those making Star Wars Episode Seven would ignore the EU book series after episode six, I was happy. I was ecstatic.

This meant that the producers were all but declaring a Star Wars multiverse. With at least two official timelines. Episode Seven and the EU Book series.

The two timelines could be viewed as mirror universes to each other. But, there could be other timelines as well, due to the various ‘what if’ stories and various Star Wars game endings.

And there are also the Star Wars Legacy book series and the characters from those stories.

In addition, the timeslines for when Star Wars Episode Seven started and when the EU book series ended, around thirty years after the end of Episode Six, are close to the same temporal points. This just makes for a crossover all the more easily done.

The playground for the Star Wars realities just got a lot larger.

It would be ironic, though said, if Chewy would survive this new trilogy, while the rest of the older cast members of the original movies are killed off in the sequel trilogy. But then, there is a crossover with the EU book series where Chewy’s counterpart died, but Han, Leia, and Luke, are alive. It make for a wonderful reunion for everyone involved.

If Kylo survives the movies, such a scene could be made for him apologizing to that hand for killing his own father, his Han Solo.

I just watched the movie this Saturday with my father. We always were huge starwars fans but this film just felt unnecessary. To quote my dad: – So they made a new movie just to kill han solo ?
Storywise I found I lot of stuff too stupid to swallow. Things like:
    – The empire got it’s ass beaten up and it’s remmants are still fighting the war but they somehow have the resources to build another mass murder weapon that is many times larger than deathstar. When they builded the deathstar they were at their peak so how can they build a bigger weapon when they are now just remmants? What’s next? Are they going to weaponize a galaxy or some other bulls~~~?
-Like Cap285 pointed, Rey is able to use force abilities that would take a lot of training and won a lightsaber duel against Kylo Ren despite having no training just for the sake of showing a strong female character and that is bulls~~~ lore wise.
-Luke going into exile because he was training Kylo Ren and the latter fell to the dark side. That’s f~~~ing bulls~~~, a real man would never run away from a problem that is his responsability like Luke did. They totally ruined his character by turning him into a pussie.

Pity and contempt are siblings. You only feel pity for those you consider weak.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner! Writing sacarstically from the perspective of others. I wish I could add more to the discussion about the movie, but its not my thing, I don’t really get into movies. Now the new Star Wars Battlefront game. That I feel more strongly about. You can always trust EA to f~~~ things up.

Being a science fiction buff as many of you are, I would like to see this movie. However I struggle with two facts about its making.
First, as a piece of fictional art for entertainment and secondly, an overwhelming sign of political and social reality.

Will I allow myself the luxury of being entertained by this movie or will I watch it and hate myself afterwards for watching something
that has content which I’m so against, . . ie: feminasation doctrine in art form.

I decided, “f~~~ it ” . . . I’m not watching it because of simple principle, that the movie is about female empowerment targeting
the young and impressionable and giving feminists & feminised c~~~s an uplifting story to feel good about.

This brings me to the last point in my reply to the post here.
While I do not give a flying f~~~ about the pros and cons of the movie and do not care to dissect it into tiny bits and discuss
its content to death, I see that the subject of this movie is driving a wedge among our members.

Is this what we want ?
Is this so important that almost half of the posts are turning so contentious, that some are hinting that those that they do not agree with may be of female gender or not intelligent ?

Gentleman, come to your f~~~ing senses. Do not cause a split among yourselves over an obvious female orientated movie. It is as simple as that. I do not advocate that you do not watch it, but do not cause rifts over a f~~~ing movie.
Yes, its as simple as that
If my memory serves me correctly, you joined MGTOW for more or less the same reasons. Female/feminist damage done to your lives.

My bandmate was showing it off to me. It looks nice and seems fun, but as usual EA is pulling the dlc move to release PART of a game. I think you need the dlc’s to get the rest of the maps. It is also my understanding that it is aimed at multi players. Unfortunately I’m a single player only guy so I was disappointed. One thing you might like about the game is that you get to fight in Jakku. When my bassist showed me the flight based combat, I noticed the huge fleet in the desert that Rey was scavenging from in the movie. I bet you’ll like it. Thankfully I have fallout 4 to keep me entertained.
