Harrison Ford was much like the John Wayne of his generation. And Mister Ford’s most ironic role was Han Solo (Indy was a close second). Like John Wayne characters before him, almost every boy that saw the first Star Wars trilogy as a child wanted to be Han Solo, (the others wanted to be Luke or Vader).

And if the production staff wanted a diverse list of female Jedi characters to draw inspiration from, there were plenty. Just to name a few, Nomi Sunrider, Mara Jade, Jaina Solo. And that is just the tip the iceberg. And those female characters were not “instant experts”, they had to work for what they had, and they had the respect of the fanbase.

I am honestly surprised that feminists are not complaining that Leia is a not Jedi by episode seven of the movie series. She has paid her dues, she deserves the lightsaber, robes, and force powers. Even the Expanded Universe book series acknowledged that.

To have Rey be the most power force user because they made sure Luke failed at training Jedi to be an insult to everyone. It is literally they are killing almost everyone else, so they can say the female lead is better at something. That is not how one writes a heroes journey story. Besides, that is just recycling the plot with a female lead, instead of Luke.

And at least, Anakin was handwaved as being the most powerful based on prophecy.

Now, there are a few ways they could fix this trilogy in the coming two movies. Especially Rey’s “instant expert” issues. Given Star Wars love of plot twists, this can be done. But, now is not the time and place to get into that.

2. A good writer can fix just about anything in a story. If that was not the case, the comic industry would have crashed and burned decades ago. Though, I am not going to get into possible fixes for this trilogy, right now. But, I did post some theories on the subject in older threads. But, I am not going to dig them out.

Great review Cap. I came out of the movie very conflicted – I’d enjoyed returning to the Star Wars universe but was annoyed with the lack of suspense and the rehashed plots. I tried to ignore the feminist element because I don’t let them ruin my enjoyment of something.

The movies ‘biggest’ moment was ultimately it’s the biggest fail. When Rey grabs the light saber out of the snow with the force and they show her with it with the music swelling…..It. Did. Not. Work.

I highly suggest Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 1. It is a great game with good characters, nice action, wonderful plot, and wicked plot twists. But, the KotOR 2 sucked.

There’s only so many hours of the day.

Star Wars didn’t have superheros or magic (which, in olden tales, required skazillions of hours of study). Marvel gets away with it because they say “yep, it’s a gift from God”, and even their stories are getting boring because the characters are f~~~ing good at f~~~ing everything. No, they’re not. The original James Bond stories – written by an almost certain ex-British intelligence officer – had Bond at very good at reading people, living a dissipative life, and fighting. He had an “Old Etonian” -ish flair for wines and the like. He had gone to university for languages. That was it. He wasn’t magic, he wasn’t a god, and he got bested, often.

Here’s my take on something, too.

Harrison Ford may well have insisted his character die at the end of this. He was supposed to die at the end of Empire, but got talked into Jedi, which supposedly he has privately said was a mistake not just personally but for the story. He may well have insisted that he wanted his character to be completely and totally dead so to be free and clear of this bulls~~~. He’s certainly at a high enough pay scale that he could demand pretty much whatever he wanted for his character.

I hope they lose their money on this. F~~~ feminism, f~~~ cults, f~~~ unreality.

No, feminists are sexist bigots, that hate men so much that they not only view women are superior, but that no men should be able to question, say, or take action, in a manner that questions the superiority.

This is why we see such female “instant expert” characters. In feminists minds there should be no question that a woman is superior to a man. There should not even be a discussion on the matter. Let alone a competition, even in a work of fiction, which would be a forgone conclusion for the writer whom is writing said competition.

Feminists are so wrapped up in their egos that they believe that women should not have to work towards something, that women should automatically know how to do a task, and do that task better than a man on the first time and every time.
