I admit again, that I respect what she has accomplished. I have no problem giving credit where it’s due.

I still stand by my last post however. She is a self proclaimed feminist from what I have read about her, and it is a deal breaker for me.

So, I must yield to the title of this thread, and concur.

What would make her amazing to me, is if she spoke against this femstopo crap, and got all her female fans that worship her onboard with turning this ship around, but I digress….

Correct me if I’m wrong, but on top of the paltry pay which Marines receive for their incredible fortitude and sacrifice, they have to pay for their uniforms, pay for their mess, and above all absurdity, pay for the medals which they’ve been awarded. I think I read that on a site called “We Are The Mighty”.

Last time I checked, martial arts instructors don’t tell you to shoot your mouth off about how great you are. I was under the impression they taught humility and to strike only when necessary.

I really hope she does fight a man soon and gets her ass handed to her. She needs to be taken back to reality. Then the women fighters will realize she’s not invincible. She’ll start losing. Did someone say something was “off some”? I seem to have this hearing tic where sometimes someone says something and I end up hearing it differently. Like awesome will become “off some” when things aren’t quite awesome. Anyhow, carry on. The weird part of the tic is that it also involves text. I will read “awesome” in a context that isn’t, and then hear it as “off some”.

We’ll f~~~ing get it done anyway. And even though I’ve not been provided with the proper equipment, or any at all for that matter? Awesome is retaking Fallujah with a quarter of the high-tech gadgetry that the Army has because the army let it go to begin with, and then get made to feel like you’re “Taking Too Long” to get it done, while some asshole is dressed up as a woman in civilian clothes so that he can get close enough to you to blow himself up and take you and a bunch of your fellow Marines with him.

Awesome is even though you know full well that you’re going to be killed in a withering fire, you go back to carry out a fellow wounded Marine, because you will not let your brother lie out there in a street, bleeding to death and terrified of capture. So you go back. In that.

And as far as her fighting skills go, I’ll not question them, or her own right as a fighter.

However, this article was actually about her “Being Awesome For Coming Down From Her Vaunted Position Of Greatness” to go on a date with a “Lowly Grunt”.

Awesome is, coming home after all of that and being expected to don the hat of a civilian and “pretend” that “it’s all good” and just function away, paying taxes to continue to feed a machine that really couldn’t have cared less if you lived or died.

She won’t, though. She already stated that she’s not a “first date” kind of girl (she won’t give action on the first date, in other words), and of course the guy had to tell her “don’t worry, I’m a gentleman.” Of COURSE he has to say that, though. If he didn’t clarify, she’d likely change her mind or bring bodyguards (I feel like even SHE would want/need them). He had to get the guts to ask her out to this thing, and now SHE is being praised and worshiped and SHE is the center of attention for merely saying “yes.” Now he has to be a good little boy, and not even insinuate that he finds her attractive in the least, or else she’ll consider him a creep!

All soldiers are not awesome. I’ve met some real douchebags in my day.
My current ex-military friends are awesome b/c they’re awesome people, and they don’t care about any special recognition just because they chose to become a soldier. They don’t think they’re better than anyone else because of it.
Ronda is a celebrity…famous. This soldier is not. She’s using her star power and giving it away in the direction of a soldier. He doesn’t deserve to get all the pussy in the world just for choosing to be a soldier. If any soldier thinks he deserves a bunch of glory and attention, then he signed up for the wrong reasons.

Hey Cap, did your grandfather survive? I worked with, and knew personally a couple of guys in that theater, I was fortunate enough to hear some of their stories decades ago, one guy was in a kamikaze attack off Okinawa, another told me of a typhoon they endured, he said the pounding on the hull was so hard they though the ship was going to be ripped wide open, said the banging was constant with waves going over the bow, that topside was impossible, that you’d be washed overboard after being pounded to pieces by the various obstructions. Another guy was my lawyer, he saw peleliu, guadalcanal, the Solomon chain, he was with the 1st division, even as an old man he had to keep taking some medication for his malaria. This tiny gyno-c~~~ battle with today’s rotten women, is nothing compared to the mental and physical sacrifices they made, I think those guys had it the the worst in any of our wars, next war not withstanding…..

I can’t imagine it either. I had more than a few great uncles go over with the Canadians; D-Day onward to liberating Holland after the Nazis flooded it. Pretty hard slogging from the very few stories they handed down. Unimaginable horror, no doubt. A lot of atrocity on both sides.

I like to play as an amateur historian, and have read as much as I could over the years to try to keep some memories alive.

More recently, I needed to get a good run in of watching something interesting a few months back , so I ordered a series from Amazon called “The Pacific”. Tom Hanks more or less did it as an answer to his Band of Brothers series, circa 2001. More than a few Marines came forward and basically said “You know, we know it was bad in Europe, and the Nazis were horrible. And we hate to complain, but you know………..what about us, guys??”

So Hanks made the DVD series, and I really enjoyed it. Very good acting, very good characters. Just as heart-rending as Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers.

I’ve always been interested in / admired the Marines, as all too often war movies get centered around Airborne, Army, Air Force etc. due to the Holocaust / Jewish theme so prevalent in the Hollywood adaptations of World War II. “The Pacific” was a really good blend of horror, action, and the human side.

Hey Willy, I have all the movies you mentioned and many more, their stories interested me in the pacific thereafter, looked over all the islands on satellite and saw Soviet submarine pen, concrete ships sunk on Iwo Jima, one on a sandbar at Kwajalein, bomb holes all over Attu and Kiska, abandoned Jap airfields, amphibious caves, abandoned tanks, some on the beaches buried up to their turrets. The scars are still visible in satellite photos. It took them four years to mop up that mess, yet lately were in an endless cycle of battles won, only to surrender it’s gains to the enemy, we should quit war altogether if we’re not in it to win it!!!

So weird, Tower. I’ve done the same thing with satellite imagery. It’s amazing what you can see when browsing like that.

I’ve got a thing with abandoned sites, old historical sites, ex-military installations, aircraft boneyards and the like. I like abandoned / relic sites in general. I’ve helped in a couple of military restorations, in a very junior, labor-level role. Just a lot of sanding and pounding 😀 There was recently an aircraft completed, and dedicated to my father who passed just a while back. He was RCAF. I’ll dig some pictures up for you sometime, it’s a beautiful bird.

I had done some searching on the net regarding war relics in the Pacific. I find some of these sites, sights and places to be very eerie. This one picture I found of a tank off of Truk in the Pacific, I found to be particularly “ghostly”. It would be very interesting to dive some of these sites in the Pacific.
