Artificial wombs aren’t due in the next 20 years, and it’ll take 40-50 years before they’ll be truly viable and affordable.

Surrogacy requires an enormous legal warchest to defend it as the government is dead set against men having custody of their own children, while still making sure men get the bill. Governments don’t want fathers to have custody. They are much better workhorses when firmly yoked to the child support industry. They will do everything legal (and illegal) to hand your child to the surrogate mother or into foster care and then nail you for child support.

And the artificial womb won’t be technically or economically viable for many decades yet, and once that happens it will spend even more decades overcoming government resistance to it.
