So…this s~~~ is being floated around in different countries. Couple thousand folks in Finland are going to get about $16,000/yr for 2 years to “see how it goes”. They can work, not work, spend it on drugs or whatever and the gov’t just wants to see if it should do it for everyone. Waddya think of that?

Just look at what’s happening in Sweden, all of the rapefugees are bankrupting the social welfare system. The welfare state can’t sustain itself, they’re always doomed to fail. Canada’s having problems now too because of all of the “giveaways.” Same dumb socialist crap, not so different tune.

I believe automation at the service desk will come to a very sudden halt when people stop using those services and demand direct customer service.

Stories I heard from the early Vietnamese Commie days:

Basically every month each family will get coupons for food. For example, 5 kg of rice. However, being a bureau themselves, the top would start skimming the rice. When it made it to the consumer, you get like 2.5 kg of rice mixed with 2.5 kg of rocks, plastic and s~~~.

With this I wouldn’t be surprised if Finland decides to do some “tax” or “deduction” on “basic income”

1. What would be my job?
2. Where do I go to do the job?

Then I realize that its not about employment to earn the UBI, it’s about what is free without any effort to earn it.

By paying single mothers to have children they cannot afford to feed, the socialist welfare state creates an unsustainable surplus of unskilled labor along with an unsustainable demand for goods and services from those hungry unskilled mouths. So wages fall while prices rise and wealth accumulates at the top. UBI is supposed to correct this how? All it will do is further squeeze out the middle.

The solution to problems created by socialism is not more socialism.

Fact of the matter is an unbreakable trend of wealth that is increasingly sucked to the top keeps marching on, soon this place will look like Elysium, masses of poor starving people fighting for work so that they can eat being policed by robots all the while the ruling Elite are tucked away in their protected areas. FIAT money is the root cause of this, inflation outpacing wage increases decade after decade guarantees the outcome for the everyman.

It is trending in this direction, I think this is why the powers that be predominantly push Leftist Ideology, because the inevitable revolt can be staved off the longest if you have the masses all going down to the bottom together, slowly, without shock.

At some point it may become a real necessity due to workforce reductions from automation, but pushing it right now is an attempt to buy the allegiance of those that don’t want to work.

By my math the efficiency needs to pay off the current debt of over 20 trillion before it can ever start paying the whole population a UBI. Basically the system needs to be so efficient that human intervention isn’t required to the point it creates a surplus, but that isn’t how governments full of liberals ever work.

Countries have spoken about this before, I have heard it referred to as a “Living wage”.

In some respects it makes sense if it keeps people from robbing others to get some money. On the other hand it probably won’t stop all people from doing that.

Tin foil hat time – If in the future robots will be performing our jobs than they will have to start paying people to basically do nothing. It would be a short term problem as they will also work on lowering the population. Something they are already working on.

Back in the mid-1950s, it was a solemn fact that the new-fangled black and white televisions would destroy the motion picture industry and their would be not more movie theaters. Still waiting for that one. The other one I fervently and futilely waited for was the 32 hour work week. Only if you started that way, senor! Back then there were people operating the elevators. No one ever suggested they be given a living wage when Mr. Otis’ company put them out of work. Someone has to pay that living wage for no work, and when too many people draw and too few people pay, the music stops.
