Nice find. Those are some amazing stats. Also interesting is that of the approximately 2 million marriages a year, only about 11% are among people with a college education. That’s only about 200,000 college grads a year getting married. That seems like a really low number to me. Not that I’m complaining.

It’s not 93% of marriages, but 93% of FIRST TIME marriages. Not to be picky, but I think it matters.

Related the marriage rate is 6.8 while divorce is 3.4, both out of a 1000. So that means there are 2 weddings for every divorce, or 50% of marriages fail. I expected the numbers to be closer, particularly if 93% of first marriages fail. Wouldn’t that imply that your odds are better for a long lasting marriage after your first failed marriage…a lot better? I thought that the opposite was true. Either my math/logic is wrong or this stuff isn’t accurate. Or perhaps polygamy is much more common than I thought.

Doesn’t really matter though. Common knowledge is that both marriage and divorce cause men to suffer.
