I do not diss technology. But companies sometimes go way overboard.
1. Button push boot closer- This has to be the most absurd feature of all. It isn’t a 100 ton bunker door that needs a damn button.
2. Keyless entry- Another useless feature that does more harm than good. What if you have parked your car only 15 feet away from where you are sitting.
3. start stop button- As if the key wasn’t enough. I don’t want to feel like a fighter pilot in a sedan.
4. ever glowing instrument f~~~ery- Aah! The glare when driving at night.
5. touch screen for everything
6. auto wipers, auto mirrors- How much lazy can you be?
7. The annoying sound of electronically controlled stuff- Keeeeeeeeeeee
8. So many damn sensors- tyre, oil. Unreliable and dangerous. When the sensors themselves can fail.
9. park assist, reverse cams- If you need such features to just park, you shouldn’t be driving in the first place.
The only thing that ever had to be good in my cars was the radio and the elementary health of everything needed to race. And the parts to get the show to stop within meters. ATE brakes came before any other junk.
My first 3 cars didn’t even have power windows. But a Bilstein suspension system to make driving so interesting that you don’t even see or notice the missing “luxury” in a car.
My first 2 1970’s cars had carburetors that ran perfectly but the engines often stalled after I went around corners like in a police chase. I would have needed airplane engine parts. The inertia pushed all of the gas to one side and the other jet of the V6 engine suddenly got air instead of gas…
Thank God for injection systems.
That is the luxury I need.
And thank God for GPS systems that are not “embedded” and record wherever you go.
I love privacy and hate recording when I do 160 on a 100 road.
And I love the SCDB.org radar trap database which you can easily update on the old Garmin Nüvi 660 (this is the last “modern” GPS that does not record tracks and it reads all kinds of maps)
In July of 2018, this honey pot forum was sold out to an unidentified NPC sock puppet and troll organization. Most independent thinkers and writers migrated to other MGTOW forums as a result of the never-ending infighting and deliberate trouble starting caused by members who were given "carte blanche" by the admin to do whatever they want. Before my departure, I only left a few thousand cat pics here to comfort and ridicule the feminist owners who now run this place. Their background agenda is to make MGTOW look like a club of losers the public eye. And during the course of 2019, they actually managed to destroy almost all other MGTOW venues as well. Here is the truth about "theindependentman.org" aka "TIM" which was created as an extended workbench to further divide the community. The majority of my now 24 years of accident free professional driving including “street racing against myself” was driven with cars that didn’t even have ABS, Tracking control or any other security assistant.
But premium tires and intact control arm bearings were important.
And most of all: A good car with a solid built structure, good weight distribution and thought out axle technology.
In the 1990’s my 1970’s “bulky family car” outraced some of these tuned up cardboard boxes my peers had… When it came to curves and movie-like stunts in city streets.
No safety system can give the safety a well built car can.
Like my VW-T4 Bus handles like a sports car while being a work vehicle…
No safety crap in it but it is perfect to handle in any situation.

Even though I am an Electrical Engineer, when it comes to cars, I admire less electronics. Muscle cars.
A tranquil mind is neither happy nor sad, it is uninfluenced by external conditions.

Anonymous42The most “economy” car I ever had was a 1965 6 cyl. Chevelle Plane Jane zero options and rubber mat instead of carpet! The cheapest f~~~ing thing GM could build with 4 wheels!
No AC
No power windows
No radio
No power steering
No power brakes
And you could fit another 6cyl. under the hood!
I never even registered it! I got it for free and gave it to my brother in college who was driving the AMX and threw a rod, I took ownership of the AMX a couple years later.

Modern cars are all bulls~~~ anyway! Power brakes and OHV engines are for f~~~~~s…

Now you’re going back to early ford V8! (and Briggs & Stratton).
Honestly? I like fuel inject 4 valve OHC! Do you have any idea how much fuel cars and trucks used to burn? I had a 71 Ford LTD that would burn 5 gal of gas going down town and back! The OHV turbo diesel I drive now will go over 200 miles on 5 gals. The AMX gets about 6 mpg. romping it and 14 nursing it, she guzzles at the reline, maybe 3 mpg, you can see the cloud of black carbon left behind you, after the white smoke from the line! That f~~~er gets crooked and you’re bowling through some houses!

Picture #2 I do believe is of a 66 Malibu. I do remember mine well !!

4. ever glowing instrument f~~~ery- Aah! The glare when driving at night.
I actually intentionally disable my interior lighting at night. My van has a knob that controls the brightness, but the far-left position turns off all the interior lighting, including console. The flag for the spedometer glows in the dark and that’s all I need. Sadly, the touch panel is always illuminated, but it dims about 95% when the console lights are disabled.
I don’t like being blinded by my own interior controls. I have country drivers with high beams for that.
Cupcakes are Cold. MGTOW is Absolute Zero.

That’s why I wear yellow sport sunglasses at night, the same kind I do at the range.
I do like having a thumbdrive-based audio system, though.
All my life I've had doubts about who I am, where I belonged. Now I'm like the arrow that springs from the bow. No hesitation, no doubts. The path is clear. And what are you? Alive. Everything else is negotiable. Women have rights; men have responsibilities; MGTOW have freedom. Marriage is for chumps. If someone stands in the way of true justice, you simply walk up behind them and stab them in the heart-R'as al Ghul.

I used to, but the problem is that when you don’t have traffic coming at you, they pretty drastically cut down all other visibility. I have much better success just shifting my focus on the solid white line on my side of the road so they don’t completely blow out my night vision.

In some cars these days, you get lcd panels for tachometer and speedometer. You cannot turn that off as far as I know.
In many cars these days, you get lcd panels for tachometer and speedometer. You cannot turn that off.
Thankfully mine is still a needle, despite being a 2015. I don’t want an LCD panel in my console.

“Let us wait a little; when your enemy is executing a false movement, never interrupt him” –Napoleon Bonaparte, 1805Meh, does not really affect me. If I want a new car without that s~~~, I go and buy a morgan. If not? Old cars are PLENTIFUL.
I don’t really care either way. One day, I do want the damn thing to drive itself when I want to take a nap before working on another site. Always liked being driven around so i could take a nap. But was too busy playing with her “accessories”
Modern cars are modern problems. But there are a few features I love. Mainly that came from Volvo.
Just as Public transport and airplane travel has become mundane. Cars will be that way too. It’s only a matter of time before full self driving cars for the masses. China is doing it with their busses right now. So whatever.
I guess the only thing I really hate on modern cars is that they do keep a data log or a black box of what and where you are. That part.. SUCKS.
But it has saved a few people some Bulls~~~ DV allegations. 🙂
I don’t really think I will be buying anything new. And If I do, I know how to install a programer and f~~~ with the firewire or ahem, IDB-1394 used in cars. ITS HACKABLE as the day is long.

Anonymous12My dad was a mechanic and back in the early 80’s he used to complain about all the useless junk in cars! He also looked at me oddly when I asked why cars couldn’t have TV’s in them, I was about 7 at the time. Well we have them now!!!
That’s why I like to own cars that were made in the late 1990s. They are still new enough that it’s not usually a big problem to get parts for them, but old enough to not be stuffed full of “infotainment” crap.
I don’t even like automatic transmissions, but it can be hard to find a car with a standard transmission since 99.9% of the population doesn’t actually want to DRIVE a car — they just want a mobile living room.
I do not diss technology. But companies sometimes go way overboard.
Are we running out of things to complain about?
1. Button push boot closer- This has to be the most absurd feature of all. It isn’t a 100 ton bunker door that needs a damn button.
Not needed, but it is nice to have. Comes in handy at the grocery store to have the boot already open when you get there. Also nice when you have kids who cannot reach high enough to close it on their own.
2. Keyless entry- Another useless feature that does more harm than good. What if you have parked your car only 15 feet away from where you are sitting.
Where is the harm? Are you suggesting it makes the care easier to steal? I use this all the time because it gets the AC going before I enter the car. Makes a big difference when you live in TX.
3. start stop button- As if the key wasn’t enough. I don’t want to feel like a fighter pilot in a sedan.
It’s not needed, but it’s nice to never have to take the keys out of your pocket, or wherever else your holding your keys.
For me personally, I used to have a problem with locking the keys in the car. Keyless entry and start button combo has eliminated this possibility. My car will actually automatically unlock the doors if I put my hand on the handle and the key fob is in range.
4. ever glowing instrument f~~~ery- Aah! The glare when driving at night.
use the dimmer switch.
5. touch screen for everything
I love it. Adds a lot more functionality taking up less real estate on the dash. Not to mention GPS.
6. auto wipers, auto mirrors- How much lazy can you be?
Don’t have those, but auto lights are nice.
7. The annoying sound of electronically controlled stuff- Keeeeeeeeeeee
Not familiar with that.
8. So many damn sensors- tyre, oil. Unreliable and dangerous. When the sensors themselves can fail.
When the fail, they tell you that they fail.
9. park assist, reverse cams- If you need such features to just park, you shouldn’t be driving in the first place.
I don’t disagree with this. The cameras don’t help much because they don’t show the sides. The only time I really use the camera is when I’m waiting for a pedestrian to clear out the way, one I already knew was there.
That said though, this tech is a means to an end. I am for moving to driverless vehicles.
One other thing you didn’t mention that probably fits in your list that you don’t like would be heated seats. Again, in Texas, not needed for the weather much. However, I do get lower back pain occasionally, and keep it warm on longer car rides is very nice.
Yes, I’m spoiled. Lazy. Whatever. Don’t care.
Ok. Then do it.
I recently had oil change on my five speed manual vehicle. The older owner of shop had to drive it on and off lift rack .. the younger mechanic couldn’t drive a stick shift with manual clutch.
What have we become?
What’s happening in this world?
Am I expecting too much from people?
.. from mechanics. Is it expecting too much from people that they can perform basic tasks? .. like driving that vehicle when they service that vehicle. This also happened to me once before .. while travelling.
I said to the older guy, the owner, I remember when many cars had stick shifts .. when most all small cars were manual transmission. He said .. so do I. He was slightly apologetic about the whole scene as he hired the guy. In his own defense .. he did say that they get virtually no vehicles .. these days .. with manual stick shift .. and the young guy really is a good mechanic.
I didn’t say any more but I though to myself .. somewhat poor excuse. It makes no difference if they don’t sell five speed manual any longer .. the kid should have had at least that much experience .. exposure to his craft.
.. this hit me hard .. this means that people in this world who we assume perform tasks .. don’t always have the skill sets required.
I will no longer assume that they do. I am feeling slightly pessimistic about the planet today. I’m cheerful and happy on my own path .. but I have grave fears for the planet. The population in this world needs to shape up a little bit.
.. he couldn’t drive a stick with manual clutch. And he’s the service person I go to for repair.
I take part of the blame. I used to do my own oil changes. I probably should start again, probably should also be generating my own electrical power. However, it’s going to take me awhile to get over this. Have grt day. I will. Every path is good .. as long as it’s your own.

What have we become?
What’s happening in this world?I wouldn’t blame the kid. There’s no reason anymore for the average driver to learn how to drive a stick shift. North American manufacturers quit installing manual transmissions in many vehicles a few years ago. I’m not even sure if you can even get a stick shift in an American car today.
There was a time when the driver had to know to adjust the engine ignition timing advance while on the fly and how to change gears using only foot pedals. I doubt many people know how to do that anymore either…
? Are you kidding? The dumber masses get the better it is for us MGTOW guys.
The less THEY KNOW , the better WE ARE.
Can’t drive a stick? GOOD more pay and money I can demand.
Don’t know how to do points on this car? GOOD! MORE BUSINESS FOR ME!
Don’t understand how Carburetors and a 2 stroke work? Wonderful! More money for me.

IF YOUR GOING TO BE STUPID..
THEN SO BE IT.

Don’t encourge these cuck boys. Let them fall on their asses. They threw out all the old fellas that knew what the f~~~ they were doing, let them drown. More Older white guys are doing better then ever since they were the first targets of this kind of “Replace them with cucks”.
I know at least 10 guys that had to go back to work and make double what they made when the left their “Low Tech fields” since no one else could be found to replace them without either ending up a social security claim, or a insurance policy filing.
I got 2 older sons. Neither knows dick about cars, or has even bothered with a job or getting a driver’s license. You know what? F~~~ EM!
They chose Mommys way of automatics, and let other people do the s~~~ for you.
S~~~ when it snows, I go around charging 50 bucks to put on chains for women. Next year, I’m going to have a mobile card reader on my phone.
Bottom line, THE WEAKER THEY GET THE STRONGER THE REST OF US WILL BECOME.

Don’t say anything to these weak men. CONGRATULATE THEM! just like their mom did when Little timmy brought home his achievement trophy for finishing an air breathing contest.
