I sincerely believe you’re viewing the past with rose-colored glasses.

No, I was there to experience it. The 80s were better than now. We had more freedom. If you said landwhale, people would think you were speaking of a beached whale.

The 80s were pretty much the end of the line. It’s been getting worse ever since then. You never saw women sporting tattoos. Your car did not try to nanny you. You could land a job within a week. You actually could disappear.

I miss the 80s too for ALL of his reasons. I wish I could have lived in Montana as adult back than, so much more freedom. Hunt or fish anywhere you want without neighbors calling the cops. Government has ruined everything it has touched, like marriage for example. So I opted out. It also ruined hunting with all the game laws, so I opted out of that too. I still have video games though.

One thing I like about now though is the technology. Internet has destroyed the states monopoly on information. My phone puts the James Bond watch to shame. Even my winter clothes are lighter and warmer. I like what Jeffrey Tucker says, We live in an era of space age technology and primitive government. Would I trade it all for the 80s, hell yea!

Great Post! I have been lurking on this site for a long time. Finally decided to chime in on this. I grew up in the late 90’s early 2000’s. I pretty much listened to exclusively 80’s music. Its so much better than the crap they put out today. Such incredible diversity of sounds through out the whole decade. Musicians used to have artistic vision. Now its just Bimbo’s twerking and humping each other…So talented. I guess thats all these special snow flakes can do.

The 80s are the peak of human cultural development. Even the 90s were our victory lap. Everything was fine until 9/11 which launched us into a new age of despair that only just ended when Trump took office.

One of my favorite bands from the 80’s. Compare this live performance with Mariah Carey. No I’m not looking with rose colored glasses. The 80’s were f~~~ing awesome!

The 80’s…for me it was a period of extreme financial hardship. The pop music really sucked after about 83. However punk was Fantastic. And grudge rock and Indie were on the horizon coming out with much better music during the 90’s.

    Mullets were in.
The period was indeed transitional…women started to say that they wanted a “sensitive” man (but were really out to f~~~ the biker dude: Chad).

Bodywise…people were THINNER. Women overall (statistically) looked BETTER than they do today. However today’s woman acts like a complete slut. In the 80’s and earlier there was always that sort of thing going on…but it wasn’t quite accepted as mainstream behavior.

Back then – although the family courts sucked just as bad for Alimony and Child Support: the Federal and Local Governments stayed out of the Child Support Enforcement business. That s~~~ came about when President Clinton signed the VAWA into law.

Also this was BEFORE the Lautenberg Amendment….where a Misdemeanor conviction of Spousal Abuse had the same lifetime ban on 2nd Amendment Rights as a Felony did.

Since that time….the number of false accusations of rape and abuse has skyrocketed, as has male bashing.

Whats better today..is TECHNOLOGY, CARS, MOTORCYCLES, TVS, Computers, the Internet, etc.

With the advent of the Internet and Web Browsers….Men were able to pool their collective experiences on women and a large body of knowledge was synthesized and disseminated: and MGTOW was born!

Weird, isn’t it? My own guess is a mix of “diet sweeteners”, which pretty much every study on earth have said do really, really awful things, along with bovine growth hormone and probably other things of which I’m unaware. I lost sixty pounds giving up dairy products, soda pop, and alcohol with walking as my exercise regimen. Just walking . . . and giving up that chemical speedball of food additives . . . and I got back down to a normal weight.

However today’s woman acts like a complete slut. In the 80’s and earlier there was always that sort of thing going on…but it wasn’t quite accepted as mainstream behavior.

No, it was entirely different. Girls in their early twenties now have routinely slept with thirty or forty guys . . . or more. In the late 80s that would have been a stunning count, and would have suggested psychiatric intervention on the part of the girl’s friends. We’re far, far outside the pale at this point.

With the advent of the Internet and Web Browsers….Men were able to pool their collective experiences on women and a large body of knowledge was synthesized and disseminated: and MGTOW was born!

Huzzah to that. I don’t think we’ve seen the half – not even a tenth – of what the internet can do. It’s one of the few things that keeps me optimistic.

Your Welcome Bro! You can see the whole entire show up on youtube. I missed it when it came out too. I was born in 1987. Music and culture sucked when I was a teenager. Technology is no substitute for those things. Anyways, I got into music and found the 1980’s as being the best decade for the kind of music I like. I guess its called “New Wave” whatever thats supposed to mean.

This is a great post. I really miss that time and I felt that things were better then.

I was a more innocent time. I was watching “Friday the 13th” and was thinking that this was considered an extremely adult movie at the time. There seemed to be a certain innocence to that movie though after watching it again. It is really tame now.

The music back then had a sense that it was carefree and fun. The bands had actual talent then.

Yes the women for way thinner and actually looked like women.

The movies had b~~~~ back then and were unapologetically masculine. Movies like “Commando” and “Bloodsport” were commonplace and masculinity was celebrated.

It is true that nostalgia is a powerful tool and it would seem that one could view the 80’s with “rose-colored glasses” but in this sense, that is not true. The 80’s was just a better time.

Don’t forget about 80s pro wrestling. It was still cool to have an all-American good guy like Hulk Hogan and Sgt. Slaughter, while bad guys were usually either foreigners or unbearably arrogant womanizers. Most pro wrestling gimmicks from back then would trigger just about any SJW if they existed now.

Even though I was born in the 90s , I couldn’t agree more with your post. I would’ve imagine how great it would be during that time. No Facebook or smartphones. Movies were great, music was great. No celebrities like Miley Cyrus. Now everything seems to fall in complete crap because of social media and society standards. “Oh gotta take a selfie of this, el oh el” *duckface* This world has gone to hell.

The only two things that came out of the 80s that I really liked were thrash metal and the British punk scene. Also someone mentioned Two Tone Ska and earlier Electronic music, which I also did like from it.

But you do actually make a lot of really good points about how the structure was actually more structured back then. Admittedly I do have a biased opinion because I’m about 8 to 10 years under that time experience but there are certain things it spawned that I like.

However also, the horror movies then are more known for being bad than good. (similarly to how today pretty much all movies are more known for special effects than any actual plot) And I can only handle so many instances of some jackass tool of a dude with teased out hair in spandex with more makeup on than Gwen Stefani about to do a blowjob and facial shoot before my compulsion for murder kicks in.

Again, I have a biased opinion, due to my age group and also from the fact that I’m from a s~~~ty small rundown southern biker town where there’s nothing but small bars and strip clubs and drugs next to a beach. I actually tried moving away from this place for about 6 or 7 years, but the place I moved to I got locked up in a college town and the whole time I was there I remember thinking: “I’m an R-rated guy, living in a PG-13 town…”

Music of the 80s is great, fashion and hair styles not so much.

I loved the 80s. There was a kind of innocence to it. Although that’s probably because that’s when I was a teen. I’m sure most feel that way about their teen years. But for me, the real fun came in the 90s. I graduated H.S. in ’89, was out of he house in ’92, and bought my first new car in ’93. I remember going to work, going to a friends apartment to hang out and play video games all night, and going back to work the next day. I would love to have that kind of energy again. It will be 20 years this May when I really started to become red pilled. I was on a date and I realized that this was NOT what I wanted. I haven’t been on a date since. So, for me, the 80s were great, but the 90s were better. I will say most everything about today sucks.
