Syria Situation Report 9th April 2017

Russia, Iran Warn U.S. They Will “Respond With Force” If Syria “Red Lines” Crossed Again by Tyler Durden – This is an extract

A statement issued on Sunday by a joint command centre consisting of forces of Russian, Iran and allied militia alliance supporting Syrian President Bashar al Assad said that Friday’s US strike on the Syrian air base crossed “red lines” and it would “respond with force” to any new aggression while increasing their level of support to their ally.

In the statement published by the group on media outlet Ilam al Harbi, the pro-Assad alliances says that “what America waged in an aggression on Syria is a crossing of red lines. From now on we will respond with force to any aggressor or any breach of red lines from whoever it is and America knows our ability to respond well.”

Earlier on Sunday the UK’s Defence Secretary, Sir Michael Fallon, demanded Russia rein in Mr Assad (by which he really meant be willing to accept a new Syrian regime with a pro-western puppet leader, and one who is willing to allow the Qatar gas pipeline to cross the country on its way to Europe.

(For those who are unclear about the core geopolitical tensions that are at the base of the long-running Syrian proxy war, the answer is – as so often tends to be – commodities and specifically natural gas, as we first explained in 2013, and as summarized in the following October 2016 article courtesy of Eric Zuesse

US Ambassador To UN: “Regime Change In Syria Is Now A Top Priority For tRump”

The US ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, who has done a remarkable job of continuing the diplomatic tone set by her predecessor Samantha Power, said in an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” which will air in full on Sunday, that regime change in Syria as one of the Trump administration’s top priorities in Syria. Her statement was a complete U-turn from what she said just over a week ago, when she told a group of reporters that the US was “no longer focused on getting Assad out.”

In her CNN interview, Haley also said that defeating the Islamic State, pushing Iranian influence out of Syria, and the ouster of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad are top priorities for Washington.

“There’s not any sort of option where a political solution is going to happen with Assad at the head of the regime,” Haley told CNN anchor Jake Tapper. “If you look at his actions, if you look at the situation, it’s going to be hard to see a government that’s peaceful and stable with Assad.”

“We don’t see a peaceful Syria with Assad in there,” Haley added.

Haley’s remarks come just a day after she warned that the United States was prepared to take further actions in Syria during a special session at the UN following the US military strike against the Syrian air base.

Playing the “good cop”, and appearing to take a more patient stance regarding Assad, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said on Saturday that Washington’s first priority is the defeat of Islamic State. Once the threat from Islamic State has been reduced or eliminated, “I think we can turn our attention directly to stabilizing the situation in Syria,” Tillerson said in excerpts from an interview on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” that will air in full on Sunday.

Quoted by Reuters, Tillerson said the United States is hopeful it can help bring parties together to begin the process of hammering out a political solution. “If we can achieve ceasefires in zones of stabilization in Syria, then I believe – we hope we will have the conditions to begin a useful political process,” Tillerson said

Hayley’s statement is a “direct sabotage” of international efforts to achieve peace in Syria, the head of Russia’s Upper House Committee for International Relations, Konstantin Kosachev, wrote in a Facebook post.

“Both moderate and armed opposition will read the US opinion. ‘And what’s the reason to go to Geneva or Astana after that?’ they’ll ask,” Kosachev wrote.

“And after reading that, they’ll take up arms again. Shoulder-to-shoulder with brave Americans, who by bombings of government airbases give an example of how one should really behave without any conventionalities”

“And we’re not talking about the terrorist groups, where not everyone can read, but all of them can fight,” Kosachev added.

Former CIA Officer: “The Intelligence Confirms The Russian Account On Syria” Authored by Robert Parry via ConsortiumNews.com – This is an extract

A number of intelligence sources have made contradictory assessments, saying the preponderance of evidence suggests that Al Qaeda-affiliated rebels were at fault, either by orchestrating an intentional release of a chemical agent as a provocation or by possessing containers of poison gas that ruptured during a conventional bombing raid.

One intelligence source told me that the most likely scenario was a staged event by the rebels intended to force Trump to reverse a policy, announced only days earlier, that the U.S. government would no longer seek “regime change” in Syria and would focus on attacking the common enemy, Islamic terror groups that represent the core of the rebel forces.

The source said the Trump national security team split between the President’s close personal advisers, such as nationalist firebrand Steve Bannon and son-in-law Jared Kushner, on one side and old-line neocons who have regrouped under National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster, an Army general who was a protégé of neocon favorite Gen. David Petraeus.

In this telling, the earlier ouster of retired Gen. Michael Flynn as national security adviser and this week’s removal of Bannon from the National Security Council were key steps in the reassertion of neocon influence inside the Trump presidency. The strange personalities and ideological extremism of Flynn and Bannon made their ousters easier, but they were obstacles that the neocons wanted removed.

Though Bannon and Kushner are often presented as rivals, the source said, they shared the belief that Trump should tell the truth about Syria, revealing the Obama administration’s CIA analysis that a fatal sarin gas attack in 2013 was a “false-flag” operation intended to sucker President Obama into fully joining the Syrian war on the side of the rebels — and the intelligence analysts’ similar beliefs about Tuesday’s incident.

Instead, Trump went along with the idea of embracing the initial rush to judgment blaming Assad for the Idlib poison-gas event. The source added that Trump saw Thursday night’s missile assault as a way to change the conversation in Washington, where his administration has been under fierce attack from Democrats claiming that his election resulted from a Russian covert operation.

Trump’s advisers, in briefing the press on Thursday night, went to great lengths to highlight Trump’s compassion toward the victims of the poison gas and his decisiveness in bombing Assad’s military in contrast to Obama’s willingness to allow the intelligence community to conduct a serious review of the evidence surrounding the 2013 sarin-gas case.

In both cases – 2013 and 2017 – there were strong reasons to doubt Assad’s responsibility.

Alarm within the U.S. intelligence community about Trump’s hasty decision to attack Syria reverberated from the Middle East back to Washington, where former CIA officer Philip Giraldi reported hearing from his intelligence contacts in the field that they were shocked at how the new poison-gas story was being distorted by Trump and the mainstream U.S. news media.

Giraldi told Scott Horton’s Webcast: “I’m hearing from sources on the ground in the Middle East, people who are intimately familiar with the intelligence that is available who are saying that the essential narrative that we’re all hearing about the Syrian government or the Russians using chemical weapons on innocent civilians is a sham.”

Giraldi said his sources were more in line with an analysis postulating an accidental release of the poison gas after an Al Qaeda arms depot was hit by a Russian airstrike.

“The intelligence confirms pretty much the account that the Russians have been giving … which is that they hit a warehouse where the rebels – now these are rebels that are, of course, connected with Al Qaeda – where the rebels were storing chemicals of their own and it basically caused an explosion that resulted in the casualties. Apparently the intelligence on this is very clear.”

Giraldi said the anger within the intelligence community over the distortion of intelligence to justify Trump’s military retaliation was so great that some covert officers were considering going public.

“People in both the agency [the CIA] and in the military who are aware of the intelligence are freaking out about this because essentially Trump completely misrepresented what he already should have known – but maybe he didn’t – and they’re afraid that this is moving toward a situation that could easily turn into an armed conflict,” Giraldi said before Thursday night’s missile strike. “They are astonished by how this is being played by the administration and by the U.S. media.

The mainstream U.S. media has presented the current crisis with the same profound neocon bias that has infected the coverage of Syria and the larger Middle East for decades

The articles also fit with Trump’s desire that he be portrayed as a decisive and forceful leader. He is depicted as presiding over intense deliberations of war or peace and displaying a deep humanitarianism regarding the poison-gas victims, one of the rare moments when the Times, which has become a reliable neocon propaganda sheet, has written anything favorable about Trump at all.

According to Syrian reports on Friday, the U.S. attack killed 13 people, including five soldiers at the airbase.

Hacker Group Releases Password To NSA’s “Top Secret Arsenal” In Protest Of Trump Betrayal by Tyler Durden – This is an extract

The Shadow Broker group, whose origin and identity still remains a mystery and in an article posted on Medium, the group wrote an op-ed – much of it in broken English, in which it slammed Donald Trump’s betrayal of his core “base”, and the recent attack on Syria, urging Trump to revert to his original promises and not be swept away by globalist and MIC interests, but far more importantly, released the password which grants access to what Edward Snowden moments ago called the NSA’s “Top Secret arsenal of digital weapons.”

The article begins with the group explaining why it is displeased with Trump.

      Don’t Forget Your Base

Respectfully, what the f~~~ are you doing?
      TheShadowBrokers voted for you.
      TheShadowBrokers supports you.
TheShadowBrokers is losing faith in you.
Mr. Trump helping theshadowbrokers, helping you.
Is appearing you are abandoning “your base”, “the movement”, and the peoples who getting you elected.
      Good Evidence:
#1—Goldman Sach (TheGlobalists) and Military Industrial Intelligence Complex (MIIC) cabinet
      #2—Backtracked on Obamacare
      #3—Attacked the Freedom Causcus (TheMovement)
      #4—Removed Bannon from the NSC
#5—Increased U.S. involvement in a foreign war (Syria Strike)
The peoples whose voted for you, voted against the Republican Party, the party that tried to destroying your character in the primaries. The peoples who voted for you, voted against the Democrat Party, the party that hates, mocks, and laughs at you. Without the support of the peoples who voted for you, what do you think will be happening to your Presidency?
Without the support of the people who voted for you, do you think you’ll be still making America great again? Do you be remembering when you were sitting there at the Obama Press Party and they were all laughing at you? Do you be remembering when you touring the country and all those peoples believed in you and supported you? You were those peoples hope. How do you be thinking it will be feeling when those people turn on you? Will they be laughing at you, hating you, and mocking you too?
TheShadowBrokers doesn’t want this to be happening to you, Mr. Trump. TheShadowBrokers is wanting to see you succeed.

As per Wikileaks, the released information include “browsable decrypted Shadow Brokers “NSA” hacking tools+docs files corresponding to password released today”, and that “Hundreds of NSA cyber weapons variants publicly released including code showing hacking of Pakistan mobile system”

Inside the NSA dump among many other findings, we find hundreds of NSA attacks on China, as well as penetration attempts in which the NSA “pretends” to be China so one wonders how difficult it would be for the NSA to pretend they are, oh, say Russia?

Additionally, today’s revelation exposes hacking attacks on EU states, as well as Latin America, Russia, China, Japan and South East Asia. Among the contents one also finds the hacking configuration for China Mobile, the world’s largest mobile telecom company by number of subscribers (just under 900 million) and market cap.

Another example shows the NSA’s EquationGroup tool (ELECTRICSLIDE) impersonating a Chinese browser with fake Accept-Language.

Alarm within the U.S. intelligence community about Trump’s hasty decision to attack Syria reverberated from the Middle East back to Washington,

That might be the point. That those behind the gas attack in Syria, whomever they are, were expecting President Trump to do nothing. The gas attack to be used to smear President Assad and by extension Russia. In addition, President Trump’s inaction would have made him appear weak, slowing down his domestic policies and continuing the false narrative that President Trump is a Russian agent.

Instead, President Trump took action. He warned Syria and Russia of the bombing in advance. The fact that airbase is still operation afterward shows this was theatrics.

But, this missile strike accomplished what President Trump wanted. He took control of the narrative. Also, he used the missile strike to send a message to Chinese President Xi to reign in North Korea and stop with the military build up in the South China Sea.

If this is the case, it is likely President Putin is on this.

    Now things have gone sideways.

Those against President Trump cannot openly come out against him because he did something that appears to be what they want. Not even the media can reverse course like this. All they can do is use their internet trolls to try to divide the Trump supporters. That is not really working.

Even those at Inforwars admit this missile strike is either lunacy or genius. They are not sure which.

Those against President Trump are not worried about an actually war starting because President Trump can request being given War Powers, this would make him a dictator in all but name. President Trump could use this to jail his political enemies and push his agenda through.

President Trump is saber rattling all his foreign and domestic enemies.

Yes. President Trump wants President Assad out of power. Though, listen more closely to the message. It is not about President Assad being tried for any crime, but having him to leave his position of authority.

President Trump has been clearing out ISIS. But, President Assad is to politically hot to leave in power. So President Assad has to leave. But that does not mean handing Syria over to the Saudis for the pipeline.

I still feel we are missing something. What was so important that Trump had to do this? He knew how badly it would seem to his support group.

It’sallbs, note the line I quoted in my previous post above yours. This is not something you would hear if the globalists were happy with President Trump.

I would not be surprised if the false flag gas attack in Syria was timed to hurt President Trump’s negotiations with Chinese President Xi.

I still feel we are missing something. What was so important that Trump had to do this? He knew how badly it would seem to his support group.

I believe we are miss a few key points. But, a president does not send their secretary of state to personally negotiate with a nation the president plans to go to war with.

President Trump has sent his Secretary of State to Russia to personally negotiate with the Russian government.

Ignore the propaganda. Look at the actions and aftermath.

I believe President Trump is about to get serious about ending this Syrian mess. But, he wants the Russians on board with what he does.

When Nikki Haley did that U turn, it should tell you that you can put new people in control, but the same people are in control, it doesn’t matter who we vote when what matters is what the elites want. They want total world domination or to send this world straight back to hell.

Trump showed us that hes willing to escalate things before taking it to congress and the UN, this is a dangerous precedent since most of the people that are around him are Neo warmongers that only care about America being an imperialistic empire.

Nation building? more like nation obliterating if you ask me, have the Iraqis or Lybians recovered from our campaigns? if you remember those USED to be decent places where people could live a modest humble life before we bombed the damn thing to the ground. Trump and Hitlery are two masks on the same face.

The idea of democracy and you vote for who you want to run the country is all an illusion to keep you happy and undercontrol, whilst destracting you with entertainment drugs and alcohol, whilst brainwashing you through CNN or the BBC or ITV,or ABC or tampered with internet search results.

I mean there is logic to Faust’s argument but I don’t know why people won’t wake up and see reality -how much evidence do you want how many times, how many blatant false flags or hoaxes…

Take that into account with the reports the airbase personnel was warned ahead of time and the missiles that did hit did not actually detonate.

    This was political theater.

Until they became conscious they will never rebel, and until after they have rebelled they cannot become conscious.”
Now I will tell you the answer to my question. It is this. The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from the oligarchies of the past in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just around the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me.”

Power is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together again in new shapes of your own choosing.”

“For, after all, how do we know that two and two make four? Or that the force of gravity works? Or that the past is unchangeable? If both the past and the external world exist only in the mind, and if the mind itself is controllable – what then?”

“You are a slow learner, Winston.”
“How can I help it? How can I help but see what is in front of my eyes? Two and two are four.”
“Sometimes, Winston. Sometimes they are five. Sometimes they are three. Sometimes they are all of them at once. You must try harder. It is not easy to become sane.”

To die hating them, that was freedom.”

The masses never revolt of their own accord, and they never revolt merely because they are oppressed. Indeed, so long as they are not permitted to have standards of comparison, they never even become aware that they are oppressed.”

“What can you do, thought Winston, against the lunatic who is more intelligent than yourself, who gives your arguments a fair hearing and then simply persists in his lunacy?”

So long as they (the Proles) continued to work and breed, their other activities were without importance. Left to themselves, like cattle turned loose upon the plains of Argentina, they had reverted to a style of life that appeared to be natural to them, a sort of ancestral pattern…Heavy physical work, the care of home and children, petty quarrels with neighbors, films, football, beer and above all, gambling filled up the horizon of their minds. To keep them in control was not difficult.”

The Ministry of Peace concerns itself with war, the Ministry of Truth with lies, the Ministry of Love with torture and the Ministry of Plenty with starvation. These contradictions are not accidental, nor do they result from from ordinary hypocrisy: they are deliberate exercises in doublethink”

Left vs Right is a charade

You believe everything is controlled by monolithic organization from behind the scenes.

I disagree. The monolithic organization has lost control.

Think about it this way. There is no end game in Syria where President Assad stays in power. But, he cannot just leave without some sort of honorable exit presented to him.

Those pushing for war between the U.S. and Russia are doing so to enrich and empower themselves.

Those behind the scenes have been trying to use the Syrian mess to start a war between the U.S. and Russia.

With that Syrian airbase still in one piece and there being no major loss of life from those stationed at that base. Either that missile strike was the an embarrassment for the U.S., or the missile strike was a charade.

I believe it was a charade.

Remember, the people President Trump put in charge of the U.S. military were fired by Obama because they prevented Obama from starting World War III with Russia over Syria.

President Trump’s detractors expected him to fold over the Syrian false flag gas attack. Instead, he ante up in this insane poker game.

If President Trump can solve the Syrian mess in a manner that Russian government is okay with then that would decrease the chance of war between the U.S. and Russia to the point of the U.S. having possible peaceful relationships with Russia.

After Syria the only sicking point is China. And President Trump used the missile strike to send a message to the government of China.
