SQL queries need a unique identifier in order to work quickly and accurately. The index does not have to be a PK, but it ensures each row is unique. The data is still there, but you really can’t do anything with is as you lose all referential integrity. It’s been a while since I’ve done SQL development work so I’m a little rusty though.

What Sidecar’s wench did was stoopid and very bad for a database.

Oh the data was all still there, but all meaning had been stripped out of it with the keys deleted.  So you still have the table of orders, the table of customers, the table of addresses, the table of products, and so on, but you no longer know which orders go with which customers go with which products and so on, which makes the data completely useless.

When I explained to her that computers have to assign a unique number to each record because numbers are the only thing computers actually understand she replied: “Not Macs.  Macs understand people.  This wouldn’t have happened if we’d used Macs like I said.”  Like it’s somehow not her fault because it wasn’t an overpriced piece of desk candy (which she would have f~~~ed exactly the same).  Then the real gem: “How are you going to fix this?”

Mac users are a special breed. I have to hack the f~~~ out of them to make them behave in enterprise settings. They’re great for home and graphics, but not much else.

I own one too and actually like it. I don’t run my business off of it though.

Current backups are the only way to fix it you stupid wench. I could fix it, but it would cost her dearly very,very dearly and would take way longer than 2 days.

So what you’re saying is that it’s okay for the guy to lie about his intentions with regard to the female (I’m in your same field, let’s study together, etc) and that it’s okay for the two guys (and maybe a third cameraman) to lie about the entire setup… (although honestly I think this and most videos like it are staged) but when the female lies to brush him off, she’s in the wrong?

Does that not sound a bit suspiciously like a double standard to you? What this implies is that it is perfectly acceptable for men to lie in their pursuit of females but not okay for females to lie in order to avoid that pursuit.

“It’s okay when I do it to you but wrong when you do it to me” is the way females see and think about the world and it’s exactly this kind of irrationality that I am currently expressing a sentiment against.

Now if you’re having girl problems I feel bad for you, son. I’ve got… well you know how the rest of it goes. Yes, sometimes it’s necessary to cross dangerous terrain and deal with dangerous creatures and situations. But when the shark bites your leg off, you don’t get angry at the shark for following its nature and p~~~ and moan about it doing exactly what millions of years of evolution have specifically shaped it to do, you take the lesson, get a prosthetic leg and get back on the surfboard… and maybe learn a bit about how to avoid the worst of the dangers of shark bites. Or you stay out of the f~~~ing ocean. You catch my drift?

We’re men. We don’t blame other people for our shortcomings, mistakes and failures… especially not females. We take responsibility for our outcomes and learn to do better in the future. I’d like to see a little bit more of that.

Or take the example of needing someone to take your picture in front of some monument or whatever. The construction worker is already busy. You’d have to spend 15 minutes explaining how to use your camera to the old man and pray that the autofocus works. So again the beach bunny is the only logical choice.

I don’t take pictures of myself in front of monuments. No man I know does that. Females do that. And I’m not handing my $5000 camera to a beach bunny or anyone else, for that matter. Logical choice? I’m starting to wonder.

I am sorry but I seriously doubt that someone stupid enough to delete all of the unique IDs in a set of relational database tables would be intelligent enough to be able to delete all of the the unique IDs in a set of relational database tables.

I call bulls~~~ on this story. Sorry to pile on you there, brother, but you’re saying a lot of stuff that isn’t passing my s~~~ detector. Not only do I not believe a person matching the above description could exist, but I also don’t believe any self-respecting database administrator worth his paycheck would knowingly give such a person root access to a mission critical database under any circumstances. I wouldn’t even give such a person root access to the coffee maker.

@doc: Never underestimate the stupidity of users. They can sometimes be so stupid that is even seems like intelligence. Even if she deleted only one ID column in one of the tables, it would wreck general havoc. It’s easy to do if you’re a click monkey and exploring.

I hate giving root or admin to these people, but they own the property. That’s one benefit that I had when I was in the corporate environment versus being a mercenary. I would have dropped her the moment that she told me she was going to handle backups.

Nobody’s complaining about women lying.  That’s something we all know we have to accept and deal with.  Fish gonna swim, birds gonna fly, women gonna lie.  This thread is about women hypocritically pushing laws to punish men when men lie right back.

Well I used to do that all the time.  And believe me, it’s a lot easier getting them to use a camera than hold the marking pole properly.  But all this is just you sidetracking from to cover your initial ridiculous assertion that men never approach women for anything other than getting sex when we all know that’s simply not true.

Never underestimate the cunning of idiots.  A lot of women have no clue how a car works either, but that doesn’t stop them from crashing them.  She went out and bought herself some Databases for Dummies book.  Doubtless she skipped ahead to the instructions list and never bothered to read the first few chapters that explain the basic concepts.

It was her company.  Bankrolled by her husband, but she was definitely the boss.  I was helping out as a favor to him, which is probably why she was so desperate to prove she could handle the computer operations herself.  When “her” company inevitably tanked they lost their house and she ended up divorcing him.  Now are you going to try to claim that that didn’t happen either?

And $5000 camera?  First you try to inject some stupid “study rape” narrative, then some hypothetical about asking bikini girls for directions, and now this sidetrack attempt?

I honestly didn’t think she would be incapable of something as simple as removing the ejected tape every morning and replacing it with the next one in sequence for the next night’s automatic backup.  That wasn’t just her being stupid but also bone idle lazy and irresponsible.

Dealing with lazy idiots is by far the hardest part of any job.  Sometimes you just have to give them what they want and let the chips fall where they will.

We’re all liars and we’re all trying to maximize our returns while minimizing our costs. The individuals who made that video sure seemed to have a problem with the female lying to them and it was reposted here, apparently, for the same reason.

And yes, they do have a right to make a law about it. There are more of them than there are of us and they are far better organized. They have the right and the power and they are going to do it. This is the world in which we live… why are you having so much trouble getting that?

If you want to complain about it and try to change it, go join AVFM and fight for your men’s rights. If, on the other hand, you want to take responsibility for your own outcomes and stay on the right side of the law with regard to females… the law which they control and which serves their needs nearly exclusively… then you’d best check your approach and not lie to them. Or, as has been suggested a nearly infinite number of times here, learn to avoid them.
