i canot stand all the stupid christmas mass produced pablum they shove at evryone. read good books, watch quality shows, fix stuff, do projects, visit in person with people. help out somewhere you think does good worthwhile stuff. clean your place up. donate stuff you dont use to somewhere.

I think everyone’s already covered it, but yea.
We are conditioned to feel a certain way during certain holidays.

I had a very difficult Thanksgiving and Christmas at the beginning of a military deployment, once.
Since then, I became depressed during the holidays, no matter where I was or who I was with.

Then two divorces made me just hate the crap that came with the holidays, like separate, brief visits from the kids, competition with the exes, etc..

On top of that, Christmas season is, by far, the hardest and busiest time at my job, where many of my co-workers are angry and bitter, too.

I had to learn to separate those memories and hard feelings from the music and joy I saw around me in public.

I pretty much just insulate myself from the parts I know is BS, and try to enjoy the time with good people that I like.

This is a joyous time of year–but not because you need to rush out and buy lot of useless crap for ingrates. Rather the holiday celebrates the birth of mankind’s Savior–focus on that and helping others. That will be $250 please. Great advice isn’t free.

Not anymore. The commercialism that uses this stuff has done the revrse for me. I mean once halloween was over the very next day certain places had christmas junk for sale. Three weeks before Thanksgiving.

Ths kind of stuff, exploiting it for a buck, has turned me off. Plus the celebrating it for 6-8 weeks gets to me, and the songs are so old and heard a billion times, and we all know Bing did bad stuff to his kids, cant stand hearing the songs anymore.
