Join the club of runaway would-be slaves. Well you definitely found the underground railroad for men here, brother. We’ll smuggle you safely back to a life where everything you do is okay, life is fun and you look forward to waking up each day a free and self fulfilling man.

As for the woman, she’ll be married to some other poor schmuck in six months and divorced in under two years. You can have a good laugh and crack a bottle of “Sigh of Relief” champagne when you get that news.

    What’s up Wiseguy!

I like your introduction many congratulations to you.

The co-habitation/engagement/marriage/misery inertia is a force of nature with similar power to gravity. You had the power to stop it. You valued your sovereignty enough to step away from the ledge.

Also, you’re well aware that you caused your ex-fiancee heart-ache, and you weren’t willing to allow that to shame you into being bent over a barrel for the rest of your life.

That takes b~~~~ of steel, and a level of courage, insightfulness, responsibility, integrity, and introspection that I admire.

I think you did the right thing with the ring. Who cares about the law. No one had a gun to your head when you bought it for her, or when you gave it to her. She had no control over your decision to walk away. It sounds like you enjoyed being with her. Good Attitude, it’s a gift a token of appreciation for years of affection and good company.

    Cheers to you.
