10%. 20% if they have to put up with me.
Love is just alimony waiting to happen. Visit mgtow.com.
I never go to restaurants
I always try to leave 10%, minimum. It’s around 15-20% if the service and food are really great.
Also if service is bad (intentionally, not just really busy) I don’t tip at all.
I don’t care too much for eating at a restaurant. Very rare for me. But I gotta agree with Mr pink when I do.
10-20% but for pizza delivery, no matter how small the order, 4 bucks minimum. They use their own car, their own gas, risk their own lives, risk getting a police ticket and risk their time in a one-shot deal that may or may not even have a return aside from the 5-6 dollars an hour they earn via wage + the 1-1.50$ for each delivery. As for haircuts, I tip 3$, even if they charge me 15-20 dollars for a freaking buzz cut! ouch, 23$ for someone to run through your head with a pair of clippers. Wow, so much skill! That’s why I bought my own pair of clippers for 40$ and it has saved me over 400$ this year alone
I leave large tips. Generally 20-25% or more depending on so many factors. Their job is horrendous and it’s the least I can do.
NEVER tip based on appearance, smiling, small talk etc. Only service. You can be a complete dud. Just a warm body or robot for all I care. But as long as you’re checking on the table, getting water, sauce, wine and being attentive etc I will tip you nicely.
If your a hot young girl with a great ass who comes by to check 1-2 times during the meal because you’re used to nice tips – I will leave you $0 or $5. Your not getting a big tip from me because you’re hot. Your getting the tip based purely on your service. I don’t care what you look like, how old young etc, or even if your a bit curt.
People who “judge” their servers or worse, complain they were not “not smiled at” or “didn’t seem like they liked their job” (f~~~ you) are PATHETIC and need to get a life. If you’ve EVER written negative Yelp review on the servers “personality” you should erase it. You don’t deserve to be served and need to get a life.
I only care about merit/service. Could CARE LESS about smiles and small talk. Turn them into robots for all I care.

Agreed.
That is how I rate my own staff and they know it. Service with a smile or good looks only goes so far.
It is like a shiny veneer all service offered by most businesses. I have 14 full time, part time and casual
staff and all qualified in silver service as a minimum just to get a job from me. Knowing how the business operates, what customer wants, timing and how to execute their orders is imperative. In Australia we do not have a culture of tipping but in my place there are 4 tip jars if customer wants
to give a bit extra. All are locked and the most neutral employee (the chef/cook) has the key to open and divide tips equally among them. It stops tip thieving and ensures no infighting.Zero Tolerance
Over here in India, for a ‘waiter’, 😛 having successfully served a one-course meal to a customer without getting cussed at or shamed (even though you never cook the meal!) is considered the most generous tip of all. Given the waiters at low and middle-end restaurants are just illiterate village boys with no formal training; most of them taken out of school and forced into the businesss just for the sake of the buck.
As for the high-end restaurants, I’ve never been to many… I’ve had probably about 12 meals in a decent restaurant in all my life.. and I’ve personally tipped 10-30% in 4 of them.
Over here you don’t ‘tip’ if you’re not prominent or filthy rich. ‘Tipping’ is seen as a very grand status symbol
In one of those 4 places, the waiter actually stopped me and said “Sir, you forgot your change” .. Me: “No, I haven’t. That’s your tip.” Him: “Where do you work, Sir?”
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
Anywhere from 15% to 25% depending on the level of service I get.
A man without a woman is like a fish without a hook.
When I tip, it’s usually 15%.
To be 100% honest I never tip unless I get wicked service which then I do 10%, in this day in age when even the damn subway sandwich maker guy wants a tip it just gets ridiculous. I eat out less and less these days as I do not really trust the people that make food. I had a f~~~ing bitch waitress follow me outside one time and complain I did not tip her on a $47 bill to which I promptly said “Maybe you should stop smoking (I saw her smoking on the way into the restaurant) and get a higher paying job if you want more money, you knew what you were getting into when you applied for the job”… wish I took a picture of her face lol.
Knowledge is power..... Don't waste your brain on bullshit
How much I tip depends on where I am. If I am in Branson, Missouri I don’t tip because they treat outsiders like trash. In Virginia, I tipped this waitress 20.00 because she really went out of her way to help my co-worker.
on average I tip between 15% to 20% depending on the quality of service
bad service no tip or 1cent
Anonymous1All you have typed is very much appreciated with a read!
I went out for dinner last night – a rare event as I prefer to do my own cooking – and the bill was $35.27 for me and my date (yeah, I know, but don’t judge me, dude). The waiter had been attentive, checked at decent intervals that everything was okay, and let us linger at the table having a long (several hour) conversation without his interrupting or being intrusive. It was a slow night at the restaurant, so there was no pressure to turn over tables for incoming customers. I left him a $10 tip and he politely asked whether I needed any change back. My reply: “No, we’re good.” All the right moves earned him the 28.35% tip.
All the wrong moves by the waiter/waitress? I put a bunch of pennies down on the table on top of the bill to show that I did NOT forget to tip, I
- intended
to insult the poor service. Thankfully that has happened only a few times.
People tip at fast food places? WTF??? Never going to happen from me…but I very, very rarely even go into one.
I always tip 20% at minimum.
Same here. My peeve is a few times, and it’s always been women, are flirting with someone guy and can’t be bothered to pay attention to their job. Then I don’t tip so well.
If you rescue a damsel in distress, all you will get is a distressed damsel.
Daaamn… Thank god in my country tips are optional and are not impacting the quality of service yet. Drinks/food are expensive enough in a bar/restaurant, alcohol is like 30% more expensive there.
In 99% of the time I don’t tip. Same as everyone I know. At Fast-Food its No-tips at all.Sometimes I do in a good place (with friends and when we feel generous and the service was good). 10% max, usually it would be around 5$+
If service is even average, I don’t even consider it. If the service is lousy I don’t come back to the place, plenty of better places to visit.
-----------
When I go out and the bill is around 20$ or below, then I leave tip at 3$ minimum. When the bill got higher then I go with 10%. If I order take out then no tips.
I tip very often, even when not expected, but small amounts everytime. I noticed its not about how much you tip but more about how you tip that makes an impact.
Ex: Tipping the pizza delivery guy 15% with a thanks man and a handshake is usualy better than tipping 20% with rude comments about how late he is.
Ex 2: Tipping the waitress less because she didn’t do a good job but being overly kind (aka: whiteknight) is still going to be bad. But tipping a waitress less because you don’t have enough money and mentionning to her the reason why you don’t tip as much is much better (is it is the truth of course)
Asking for extra service or attention/complains usualy require you tip more than 15 % as keymaster mentionned.
Being very passive , not asking for anything and getting bad service its ok for you to tip under 15%
Just the tip?
I don’t eat out very often, but I generally tip 20%+. Example: $18 bill, 10% would be a decimal point over: $1.80, double it to $3.60 for 20%, I would round up to $4 tip. I also make good money and doubt it’s very fun doing that type of work so I like to leave good tips. I never order take out, always pick up.I’m a bit of an outlier here as I can count with one hand how many times I have tipped. When I have tipped for exceptionally amazing service though I easily drop 40% of the bill.
