Life is indeed unfair. However, the “unfairness” only makes sense when you eliminate god(s) from the equation.

I have posted in defense of Atheism before but every once in a while I look at it from another angle and realise, anew, how ridiculous theism really is. Here is my new angle, with respect to Christianity, what kind of parent kills his only son (Jesus). I mean really, if you look at that situation in any other context its ridiculous. If anyone kills one of his children do you say: “Wow, there goes one truly loving person” or do you say: “that’s one evil SOB.” Its really insane the moral and logical hoops the religious have to jump through to make all the contradictions and nonsense palatable.

Brother. When we suffer, it is a test of our faith. We do not need faith when everything is well. We just happily sailing by, with no faith required.

Christ explicitly told us we WILL suffer in this world. It is actually strange, as a follower, who do not suffer. So be glad you suffer, because you identify with Christ where He suffers a lot and died for doing GOOD.

When I am down, the only help for me is to look UP to Christ and worship him. Strangely, every time I do that I regain strength and hope. Hope this help.

You’re writing is full of grandiose descriptions like this. You want to get better, stop indulging yourself with the notion that your experiences are so special they must have implications about the very existence of G*D. You are not that special, and they don’t.

Like the movie says, I guess it comes down a simple choice: Get busy living, or get busy dying.

I’m not going to comment on those who do not believe in God. They are imbecilic and a grand surprise awaits these fools.

So we are back to a topic that is often addressed to wit why do bad things happen to good people and why does it seem like evil triumphs?

The world is satan’s playground, evil is everywhere and because satan is free to undertake his machinations very bad things happen…and usually good people are the target. God is not a distant puppet-master pulling strings. He gave people free will to chose good or evil. Many chose evil which is another reason evil exits. Because people have the free will to do evil God does not interfere with them. However those who chose to follow God and obey his commandments will not be abandoned. In order to receive the assistance of God one must chose to place your life and decisions in his hands. He has a plan for everyone’s life. This doesn’t mean bad things will not happen to you; rather it is an opportunity to ask for God’s help. Often that help is in the form of personal strength to deal with bad things happening.

OK many unfortunate things have happened to you…(that is a given), but you have survived them and in doing so you are stronger and wiser. I’ve read your post for some time and they are first rate; both thoughtful and wise; even though there are times I disagree. So YOU HAVE profited from you negative experiences.

Finally St. Augustine addressed this issue very eloquently. Yes evil triumphs in this world, and good people often lose…but there is balance. The good will be rewarded for their faith and perseverance with eternal life. Those who chose evil in this life may be rich, powerful, and successful in this life but at what cost in the next? Eternal fire awaits them. “The wages of sin are death”. Don’t look for God’s justice in this life, accept it in the next.

Yes, the Book of Job is the classic “Why we suffer” book in the old testament.

It mirrored very well what’s happening here in this thread. Job’s 3 friends was just keep giving tons of advice to Job (like we do here) and none of them help. And most of them are useless, as God said.

Job only change when God speak to him personally with 3 things about the creatures He made. I suspect it isn’t the creatures convinced Job. There is a personally link about those topics that strucked Job, making him feel connected with God.

When we exposed to God’s personal touch and his love, every problem will no longer problem. It is that powerful.

The law of averages and statistics dictates that everyones situations will not be the same.

A few will have dispraportuoanly bad luck.

Inacurate cognitive assesment, like magnifieng the negative, can worsen the sitiuation.
Cause depression, and there for more negative inacurate cognitave assesmenys.
And so the downward spiral begins.

You can learn to control your thoughys.

Try to be accurate and realistic in your thinking.

Sorry, I gave Jobe the..e.

What I take from Job’s story is, the ability to endure incredable loss and hardship.
And still retain his Faith.

I think of his Story often in my life.

Even if your a Man of Science only, you can benifite from his Story.

Replace God with Science, or what ever works for you.

Life is about not giveing up.

Its about Overcomeing.

And discovering Joy!
