Well that’s the new question then. In what ways can we get young men involved in their communities, so that they will actually want to participate?

Nope you had the right idea the first time.

Let’s get back to nature and back to the basics.

Until they learn the things you mention, giving back to the community isn’t gonna happen.

how about getting a local contractor involved.
    make him an offer.
free help for him letting the boys learn.
the extra hands are always great to have,
and the learning comes with time.
you may give an incentive like a decent meal at the end of the day.
    landscaping
    mechanic
    painter
    plumber
    general contractor..
    just a thought.
bond with the kids and let them learn how to fix things.

But would they be interested in doing that?

    i think so.
you have to phrase it like,
i have 5 young men who want to work for free…
they want to learn how to make a living.
help teach them and you get free hands to help out.
    absolutely .
the right guy will take extra free help in a heartbeat.

Nooo not the contractor. Could you get the young men to be interested in doing that kind of work? “Let’s go paint a house” is not exactly a battle cry. I could see them doing it if we were talking about different trades they could go into instead of going to college. Maybe it would work that way.

These are the people whom are supposed to be maintaining infrastructure when we’re all dead/dying. Lately, at the rate fidget spinners have caught on, it would seem that the average attention span has taken a plunge. I like the idea of getting back to basics, but if the goal is to bring these lads to utilize their imaginations, we may need to think long term. Replacing the big brother nanny state is a high calling. No good deed goes unpunished, and you’d be stepping on the toes of some well-financed institutions if you can somehow reverse or slow the rate of single motherhood. However, I feel like no matter what, stupid people will be the ones f~~~ing the most. The key to being actualized is to take responsibility for oneself. Nobody can teach a boy that. He must figure it out.

    I don't need a legacy.. I don't need a monument.

    how about demolition work.

i did that as a teen,
got 20 bucks and a burger and fries after..
    I f’n loved breaking things..
    walls,
    doors,
    floors,
whatever gets destroyed someone has to break it.
    ..
    just thinking out loud here…

That’s more like it. Give them something to tear up, and show them the lesson in that. Someone has to do that job, and most times, they are apart of a larger construction crew. Construction workers are going through a shortage right now as well.

@mystory, we may not reach every young man, but we gotta at least try. Some of these guys are born into situations where they have never had any hope. I just want to try to do my part if i can.

Free beer and drugs and they’ll all be willing to hang out with you, otherwise you have an uphill battle!

Notice I said beer and drugs, not women?

Anything but women is all the single mother bastard son really needs, but the system sees fit otherwise!

I’m glad I live in woods and not in the city!

I found some kids are winners while others are losers, like they’re predisposition that way and there’s not much you can do about it.

Look for the diamond in the trash heap and spend time and effort on him, the rest are only waiting for their turn in jail and seem to learn the hard way.

Don’t waste your time on the bad apples they’ll only cause you grief!

    Destroying s~~~ + pay + food = Awesome.

I have a good idea of what Venom is up against.
Much of my K-12 was in inner city schools.

It is very hard to compete with money and pussy.
Money and pussy are of course false carrots that only lead to ruin.
Some young ones you will not reach.

Dangerous/Exciting and exotic to city dwellers may be the key.

Good luck brother Venom. Your heart is in the right place that is for sure.

how about only giving the kids about 2 hours of work exposure..
    like on a saturday afternoon.
maybe when they understand a landscaper can make 500.00 a day,
    and they get say,
10 bucks for each of them,
    to help out ,
    they see work equals MONEY.
    .
don’t give up on your idea.
pessimistic people will knock down what they can’t create.

The nature/nurture dichotomy is bollocks. We all are lucky as f~~~ for being human at the very least. Maybe I should check my privilege?

There is some truth to that. I remember going into the schools for a class assignment to help 7th graders who were struggling readers. The kid that I helped, he wasn’t a bad kid, but just to sit and talk with him and help him read. It was a great experience.

@hitman, i don’t want to give up on this idea. The hard part about this is figuring what to do with the kids, and the logistics of making it all work smoothly. And again, this is something that i want to do years down the line. So i still have plenty of time to work out details.

I think it’s a brilliant plan. Knocking it down was not my intention. I’m just a realist and like to not interfere when not asked.

I gotcha. I know we won’t be able to reach every young man. I just wish we had better parents in this world that would push their children to do better and actually put forth the effort to raising these kids. And get them involved in some kind of activity. It doesn’t have to be this foundation i’m thinking of, the kids just need to be involved in something that will take their minds off of the bulls~~~ and foolishness they probably see on a daily basis.

Changing the mindset of the people is just the first step.

    okay.
with a few years to go it could develop.
you need a small side business,
employ the kids for an hour or two.
that 10 or 15 bucks is still a great incentive,
they have to associate work with money.
    .
    asphalt.
    tree removal.
    computer repair.
    .
    the potential is limitless.
    .
pay it forward to the next generation my friend.
even one young man saved is worth it.
..in NY we have a small business assistance program,
    the Big Apple Corp.
old guys sit and talk with you for free,
about all the in’s and out’s of running a small business.
    .
    expose them to making money.
    stock market or anything.
    food trucks..
    .
    MGTOW think tank in progress..
    .
    screw the dream killers.
    reach out because you can.

If it makes you happy, do it.
If it breaks your heart, don’t act surprised.
You have what it takes to win hearts, bro. I’m sure you’ve already changed lives, but Hitman could be right: I lack your fortitude.

    I don't need a legacy.. I don't need a monument.

    agreed Grue.
    and where your heart is,
    the rest will follow.
    .
to do nothing is to be complicit with the status quo.
    challenge that every way possible.
    when we have nothing else,
    we still have hope !!!

And it doesn’t need to be some elaborate plan to help these guys. Many of them just want somebody to talk to. Somebody that will just listen to them. They don’t get that at home. And speaking in terms on schooling, they spend more time at school than they do at home. Their needs to be more men in the schools to help these guys. I know i will more than likely end up coaching, so maybe that will be the way i go about helping these young men.

I worked a job over this past Summer where we had 9th and 10th graders from area schools and took them to different jobs in the area. We showed them the engineers at the college, the welders at a local metal fabrication plant, the mechanics, and other trades. Those kids didn’t even know some of those jobs existed. If we could do something like that on a bigger scale to help young men, i know it could have a positive effect.
