Dating Death Knell?

One of the situations that brought me to this site, why I decided to just give up on women altogether is that I think I am un-dateable as society stands right now. A bit about me. I am 61, reasonably attractive for my age, not over-weight, retired, with a better than poverty level pension, I own my own car, and except for my mortgage, debt free.
So, why do I think I am un-dateable? Well, 61 is a little long in the tooth, but there are lots of single women in that boat, too. The reason I believe I am un-dateable is that I have a mind of my own. I don’t fit in anyone’s box. I think the key issue here is two-fold, and may give you some idea how far outside the box I am. To start with, I am an unabashed, American conservative. Shouldn’t be an issue, right? Lots of women in my age range are conservative. BUT…. I am not Christian. In fact I am just as unabashedly a Modern Pagan. I don’t think I have ever met more than a very few Pagan, conservative women. I never get a second date, and a couple of women wanted nothing to do with me after just a phone call. It’s not as if I care what their religion is… that’s their business, and I just don’t care. Even politics is not a huge issue for me as long as we can agree to disagree, and not get all snide and catty about it. I really think women are afraid of men who think for themselves. So, it seems Christian women can’t abide Pagans, an liberal women consider a conservative BF “sleeping with the enemy”. After what I went through with my last GF, I really think I am better off on my own, and women are a waste of time and money

I’m 56 and gave up on women 25 years ago…don’t worry about dating you’re better off without any of them. Life is peaceful, serene, tranquil when there is no c~~~ around.

47 here. Lots of men of different ages here – you’re not alone. If you don’t owe anyone alimony or child support, you’re ahead of the game, no matter your age right now. I would also note as a disclaimer that this movement is largely based not on one’s age, but on current events, so it crosses generations a great deal. I’m retired as well (disability), house is paid for, cars are a little old but I keep them up and I make a little extra cash gunsmithing. I’ve never been happier. If I wake up at 0530–its a joy to roll over and sleep until about 0900, or even 1000. I can work in the yard–or not, eat what I want when I want…If I feel like getting blitzed on a Wednesday I can…if I want to play my tunes on the stereo at a deafening volume I can. Or if I just want to spend the day sitting in the deer stand that is OK too. I’ve earned the right to be as lazy, or industrious, or as grumpy as I want and I don’t answer to anyone—well except God.

It would be impossible for a woman to contribute to my happiness in any way shape manner or form. They could only detract from it. I am also a Constitutional Conservative myself, and a Christian. Let me tell you a secret about all those nice Christian church-going women—they are filthy, lying, money grubbing selfish, egotistical c~~~-gobbling whores…did I mention disease carrying or cursed of God? No? well just add it on to the list.

As I age I must confess as others have said many people bore me, manginas , lying women , they don’t bring much positivity to your life, the whines about how the latest women took them for money.

Well, the problem with that is, Paganism has been largely co-opted by the left. I have not found a group, even here in DEEP South, South Carolina that will have anything to do with me because of my conservative views. It really is rather ironic since the core Pagan value is “An it harm none, Do what thou Wilt. Let that be the whole of the Law.” How can you justify that with all of the government control implicit in “liberalism”. It is in fact, pretty much exactly what the American Founders had in mind when they wrote the Constitution I so avidly conserve. I could go on, and I might, but I will probably move it to the political forum. Maybe I really should do some writing on the fallacy of Pagan values supporting liberalism. I love to write, and during the last year wrote a great deal of political commentary.

Being undateable in this time in the world is actually a blessing in disguise. I honestly don’t believe that your “undateable” though. If you really wanted to you could find some broad, but why would you want to? Sounds like you’ve got your s~~~ taken care of and your life is peaceful. As they say if its not broke don’t fix it.

Women do not get to decide if you’re undatable because they don’t choose or initiate anyway. YOU do. And they expect you to.

Also, if you go by the female standard, smart men are also “handicapped”. They like you just stupid enough and easy to manipulate. If she senses you can’t be manipulated, you’re toast. So in order to “be datable” (according to her) you would need to dumb it down to her level anyway.

The (modern) female idea of relationship dynamics is so ass backwards that not fitting to her box is TRULY something to be grateful for.

Spot on i don’t bother with women have not for years. I have periods of employment with periods of unemploymnet due to me not taking any s~~~ from the incompetent maginas an c~~~s ta work.

Apart form the obvious financial worry the periods of unemployment are the happiest of my life for similar reasons to what you mention.

My flat is payed for (i have the usual bills and a maintenance charge) my only worry is what the hell i do about my pension now I am 40…

still I have a lot to be thankful for I really do not getting married nor having children nor a gf was the best decision I ever made.

I’m 44…not retired, and my kids aren’t grown up yet. I have thought about ’empty nest’ or retired dating/relationships/marriage though. I think I would be good with dating. By that I mean going out and having fun. I just can’t see the appeal of marriage though.

Sure, there is no risk of more kids, but you have to deal with her kids. You are asked to do all the things she wants to do, that hold no appeal to you whatsoever. Worst of all, you are asked to compromise your retirement plans to support her lifestyle. And if/when she has medical problems, you’ll be expected to pay for all that. When you die, she will take inheritance away from your kids.

And none of that has anything to do with her personality or the risk of divorce. Honestly, if a woman really loves a retired man, the last thing to do would be marry him.

OP, I wouldn’t say that you aren’t un-datable. More then likely, you are not a good target for marriage…which is a good thing.

Simply put, they have nothing to offer me but their vagina. That can be easily emulated with a fleshlight, some lube and warm water. 90% the experience, on demand, and no drama, no expense, and no risk.

Recently, for s~~~s and giggles, I went on a dating site. The over estimated value of these 30-40 something, single moms, with multiple baby daddies is absolutely jaw dropping. Most have a list of do’s and don’t’s before they will even answer your messages. Some are not even attractive. It’s madness. I did online dating a decade ago before I met my ex wife – it was bad then, and horrible now.

The few that will respond could not carry on a text based conversation without the pressures of real time interaction, if their life depended on it. I can’t bring myself to have coffee with them – it’s going to be nails on a chalkboard.

I’m in my late 30s. My house is paid, and I have zero debt. I escaped the bear trap of marriage once, without kids and minimal financial damage. I make a healthy MDs wage. The more time that goes on, the risk to reward of dating becomes greater and greater.

Besides the thrill of the hunt – which I still enjoy, there is nothing to offer. Enjoy your cats ladies!
