Yes, me too. Ancient traditions should be remembered.
What’s really interesting is that what you refer to as “ancient” has become new again and Asatru is still practiced today!

http://www.religionfacts.com/asatruI really can’t blame the Christians for being p~~~ed at us though…

Yes, I am aware of Asatru. I check out Henrik from “Red Ice” from time to time. He is helping to create a Pagan Renaissance. It is definitely coming back. Heathenry is just reconnecting with our Ancestors. After all, Ancestor worship is the most basic form of Religion.
We have a right to venerate and respect our Ancestral Heritage. Yule, Easter, Samhain are all a part of that.
Anonymous42This is the year I took holiday’s off one after another! I’m on a roll! I’ll see where it takes me! Total disconnect!
I think I’ll fire the grill and make some meat lovers spaghetti!
Who ever heard of spaghetti for Easter dinner?
F~~~ it…

Yes, I’ve seen some of the ‘Red Ice’ videos on YouTube. Asatru is alive and kicking. There was an Asatru church here in Alberta a while ago but it has since been shut down. Religious persecution I think had something to do with it.

That’s what’s so wonderful about forums like this one. We can all come here and discuss how we each celebrate our religious holidays in accordance with our own religious beliefs without fear of being ridiculed about it. After all, all religions are equally valid right?
I think now I’ll crack open another Labbat Blue and tackle that chocolate WalMart Easter bunny that I’ve got hidden away in the bottom of the freezer…

A spaghetti dinner is an old Easter tradition for some. I say enjoy the holiday and celebrate in your own way. Happy Easter to everyone…

The turkeys are happy it’s spaghetti and not them! Now their only worry is the goats plucking and eating their feathers!
Anonymous14Going to bake some off the bone ham. Have some baked beans and cheesy hashbrown casserole to it.
Had an egg salad sandwich dose that count?

It’s the traditional after-Easter snack food…

Anonymous12All the holidays mean f~~~ all to me unless I am working them and then it’s triple time. I don’t care and I don’t celebrate them. Especially when you consider they are just misappropriated Pagan festivals.
I was going to watch some Easter-themed porn; a dude in a white top hat screwing a blond chick in a blue-and-white summer’s dress and a second chick in a bunny costume. No wait…that one’s an Alice In wonderland porn tribute, nevermind.
Just kidding.
Going to have some roast beef, mashed ‘taters and gravy with the parents.
Alright, so I take it no one ITT so far, except Pistol Pete is celebrating Easter… =/
Back to the original question for new posters ITT:
Celebrating Easter?
I’m celebrating Easter! I’m fortunate to live in a beautiful Cathedral city in the UK, which has to my mind one of the greatest medieval Cathedrals in all of Europe. So I’ve been going to the services there over the last few days.
I have a bit of a troubled relationship with Christianity so I have a lot of sympathy for those who don’t believe, but it’s a very important part of me. I was a very adamant atheist as a teenager, and then in my mid-20s I got extremely into Christianity (but not the evangelical kind, which I always had a strong aversion to) and became a Catholic. I’m now more circumspect about it, but it was a period of rediscovering my faith which helped me find the strength to leave my ex-wife, and that’s one of the reasons the Easter connection to the Passover story (see the other thread I started today) is so powerful for me.
In both my atheist and Christian periods, I’ve never liked it when people tried to convert other people to their way of thinking. I’ve also never changed my view that, no matter what you believe, the main thing is to keep asking questions, to keep thinking about it.
There aren't holes in your pockets. It's called marriage.
Blogs on the net are like bars…….. religion and politics should be a no-no
I did the politics thing here and got trolled BAD so there’s no comment here concerning religion EXCEPT….A Priest, a Rabbi, and a Pastor were in a boat when suddenly it sprung a leak……..
🙂Marry again, Hell NO ! ( Even JESUS was hung on a cross just once)
Spending the day with my beautiful wife and her family.
April Fools ;P

You don’t even party at Halloween!?! I mean nobody takes Halloween seriously anymore. It’s all just for fun. You know that dead people coming back to life and wandering around like Zombies is all just pretend, right???
I do the whole Catholic thing start to finish. Stations of the cross and seafood on Friday. Wear my best suit to Mass on Sunday morning followed by big family get together. Ham, Easter egg hunt for the kids, rum punch, and baseball on T.V. It was a good day. Love the tradition.

Well, so what’s the rest of the joke? You’re not gonna make us have to Google the punchline are you???

One of my neighbors are Catholics and they usually take it right to the max! Last year they burned a heretic alive right out on their front lawn. But that was against municipal fire codes so this year I think they just did a backyard BBQ…

I think it’s the old sinking ship joke.
A priest, a pastor, and a rabbi are on a sinking ship.
The pastor yells “Save the children!”
The rabbi replies “Pft, f~~~ the children!”
The priest says “Do you think we have time?”- AuthorPosts
