Yet if it slows things down.. I’d go with the greater good and not use it…or find a way to ping the server cycle time to see if it has the capacity to process it conditionally.

Code Bunker says it for me, and better too.

Do continue to encourage bros to sign up for a paying membership. So many man are dependent on the site.. you need resources to run it. The men will understand and support it.

I am so tapped that I cannot afford to wipe my own arse, that being said, I believe this site to be very important, and the only site I have ever contributed too, or care too for that matter. I have been a gamer for several years, and I am an old Cisco Certified Network Admin, I have been part of 2 different gaming clans in my life, and in both members had the option to “donate” when or where they could, I know it would be a lot of extra work to add a function, say on the right side of the screen, not sure where, maybe in the Forum section, maybe login, maybe it stays static, but add an option for those who would care to “donate” whatever they can. Now I have seen that work 2 ways, 1) Large and small donations came through all the time, 2) No one donates because they believe someone else will. So I am unsure of it effectiveness, but every time someone donates you could throw up a message thanking “SAID” member or maybe a thank you mail, who knows, let’s get some more feedback and see what other members think…What do you think of that????? I know I would throw down what I could, whenever I could…Just my two cents…

Appreciate the feedback from everyone. For the rest of this week, we will test it out around 12AM – 2AM EST. We will make it for upgraded members for sure.

@jeremiah Thank you very much for thinking on it, and due to popular request we do have an upgrade option. You can read more about that here.

I’m not a techie, but if it’s heavy on resources then I’d rather the site have more resources reserved for an uptic in members > more features.

Thanks for asking for our feedback KM. I think something like this is a good idea since it can become too habitual to go straight to the forums and miss a PM. If it slows down the site, I guess the question becomes, are many members PMing each other? If so then yes, otherwise it should probably go on the backburner for now.

Couldn’t agree more Stealthy. While I love this site to bits, quite honestly, I’d like to go with the golden rule of “First, do no harm.” If it didn’t put a tremendous strain on the site, I’d be all for it. But I’m sure whatever the final decision is, I’ll definitely stand behind it. This site, as a whole, can only do good by it’s menbers…

Funny, isn't it? How women thrive on a mans time, attention and resources, while simultaneously telling him he isn't enough...

Could we have a button to send a PM to a member from a post? That way we don’t have to follow them before we PM them…Just a thought.

When I first saw this topic, I thought the idea was nice, but not worth asking KeyMaster to invest the time into.

Well, I was online last night during a test and tried it. I really liked it ! It even tells who is reading your profile.

I tried it, I liked it.

So that’s what that bell in the corner was. I didn’t bother clicking it to find out until I was notified that you’d viewed my profile Keymaster, haha. I think it’s great, and it’ll save me from having a bunch of tabs open, though there is one thing – it would be cool to be able to close the notification pane by clicking somewhere off of the pane itself instead of having to hit the X in the top corner.

I think the feature would be great, having to manually check all the threads you’ve posted on can be a bit tedious especially when you go through all of that and see you’ve gotten no replies to responses.

Oh awesome. I just learned about the upgrade thing. If I ever get the spare cash, I will gladly contribute. This website has given me so much and saved my life. The way I see it is you guys saved me a million dollars from not getting married/divorced + kids. The least I can do is contribute some spare change.

It’s a cool feature. If it isn’t too demanding on the servers I’d say to keep it.

Thank you for the work you’ve put into this website, Keymaster & staff.

I have seen it pop up as available a few times and I have liked what I have seen. Its small, unobtrusive and useful.

    thumbs up

Could we have a button to send a PM to a member from a post?

Possibly. It would be better to have more like a little chat window come up while you’re in the forums. We thought about it and are actually looking to integrate it with the chat version 2…. so you can see who is in the chat etc.

It’s being thought of but thanks for bringing it up.
For now, visit a members profile to message them.

( Very new members can’t initiate PMs but they can read and respond. )

But I’m sure whatever the final decision is, I’ll definitely stand behind it. This site, as a whole, can only do good by it’s menbers…

It’s kinda heavy, but we are thinking about making it visible on your profile page only so it doesn’t distract elsewhere. Still determining benefits and load.

Thanks for everyone’s input. Love it.
