Jack Reacher.
reacher101: i’ve been wondering when someone in that mask would be showing up. awesome!
Hmm, to begin with, my all time favorite to this day still has to be “Blade Runner” (and I’m quite surprised that none of you mentioned that one yet). Now, having said that I clearly don’t approve of the notion that apparently right now Sir Ridley Scott is actually about to shoot a sequel to that cult classic, which back in the days in a genius sort of way was both behind and ahead of its time which in part makes it such a SciFi classic one to me. But let’s face it: to continue with a sequel on that movie wouldn’t make any sense whatsoever, mainly because the original was such a dense an self contained story, which could only tried in a rather pathetic manner to be somehow continued but that’s just my point of view on this one (and I actually did try to read the actual book Blade Runner II by K.W. Jeter, but after having read a mere few chapters I had gone off the idea to read any further simply based on the lack of quality depth of the “new” storyline). So you bet, I am going to boycott watching the sequel for as long as I possibly can, probably right until it will be shown on TV.
But enough a that slight random rant of mine.
Since I am such a film and movie fan, there are plenty of other excellent films that I favor and lots of them have already been mentioned by quite a few of you guys (i.e. : “They Live”, “Cube”, “Serenity”,”Butterfly Effect”, “Shawshank Redemption”, “Aliens”, “Falling Down”, “Matrix”, “Fight Club”, “The Green Mile”, “Seven”) but then there are yet lots more to add from my end like: “John Carpenter’s Vampires”, “Leon”, “Flatliners”, “The Bachelor”, “Devil’s Advocate”, “Shocker”, “Timecop”, “Breakdown”, “Soldier”, “Escape from NY / LA”, “Split Second”, “Frequency”, “Memento”, “The Usual Suspects”, “Primal Fear”, “Twelve Monkeys”, “The Specialist”, “Good Will Hunting”, “Panic Room”, “Mr. Frost”, “Executive Decision”, “Brain Dead”, “The Fisher King”, “Payoff”, “Brazil”, “Ghost Dog”, “Powder”, “Night on Earth”, “Down by Law”, “The Crow”, “What about Bob?”, “The Score”, “Freejack”, “Blue Thunder”, “Eat the Rich” (phew…!)…
Oh, but here is another one I recently even found on youtube, slightly scratching on the MGTOW subject : “Wedlock” with Rudger Hauer. Whether or not you already know it, it’s well worth checking out, enjoy:
And finally there was another old Italian film in the early 80s (again very close to the MGTOW concept), the translated title of which in English would be something like “The tamed unmanageble Guy” starring Italian Singer and Actor Adriano Celentano”. That film is quite a hilarious kind of a MGTOW type comedy, but I’m afraid has never been dubbed into English which really is a shame, same as the other film with A. Celentano, title translated roughly as “The grumbling Bear” but maybe for a few of you, who can at least understand a bit of spoken German, for the time being I’ll leave you with the first one of the last two above mentioned films with this link (if you can, again: enjoy!):
Best regards
Ned T.
I'd rather die a natual death with a clear MGTOW conscience somewhere off the grid than one within "modern" civilisation with a big stress mark on my forehead and a couple of dozen tubes plugged into my body. Back to the plantation..? Me..? Hey, literally: I won't ever fucking kid myself...YZERLMNTSIC
Anonymous0Hi Ned Trend, pleased to hear from you (Alles senkrecht?…hehe)
Yoh man, The Bladerunner, I guess everyones favorite movie here.
I also like the Adriano Gelentano movies, my favorites are Der Millionenfinger(Mani di velluto) and Gib dem Affen Zucker (Innamorato pazzo).
Do you know the movie Kontroll. It is in hungarian movie several times award winning.
Wedlock I don’t know, I am excited. Thanks for the Link. The last I saw Rudger Hauer acting was in Sin City.CHEERS!!!
I first saw Bladerunner on cable a year or so after it was released and it didn’t impress me at the time. However, I often give movies a second chance, figuring that maybe I didn’t understand them the first time. I saw it over a decade later on commercial TV, but I think it was the director’s cut. That was enough for me to change my mind, particularly since the narration from the original theatrical release really didn’t add much to the overall story.
Since then, I purchased it on DVD and have seen it several times. Considering the political and economic situation nowadays, the movie makes much more sense and I’ve come to regard it as the second-best SF movie ever made, behind 2001: a space odyssey, and tied with The Andromeda Strain (the movie, not the dreadful TV version on A & E from a few years ago).
Allet klar Meister Hollowmile. Well, wait until you’ve watched the Celentano movie above and also Wedlock. They are both excellent. In each one of them Celentano or Hauer respectively treat women just the MGTOW kind of way they arguably should be treated throughout most of both of the films, except for both of them “happy” endings. Same as in the other Italian movie “Der Brummbär” which again isn’t bad either. I don’t know “Kontroll” yet, but I’ll certainly watch out for it… Thanks for the inspirations.
@ Quarter Wave Vertical: Yeah tell me about it —> that stupid narrative of Harrison Ford, which he btw didn’t like to do in the first place (as “Erwin the explainer”) so he intentionally did it really bad hoping that Scott wouldn’t use it but as we all know he still did use it…

By the way HollowMile, meanwhile I watched “Shock to the System” and now there’s another one on my favs list, cool…!
Cheers, mate.

Anonymous0Hi GoneGalt,
I also forgot Snatch. I like the Guy Richie movies very much. Unfortunately he married this Bitch and all good moviemaking has gone.
Dark World is also a favorite. Because of its exhausting Scenes it reminds me to the novel of Franz Kafka The Castle (Das Schloss, german).
In my Archive I found another of my favorites, Needful Things with Max von Sydow and Ed Harris. Two great actors. The devil comes into a small town…hehe…Ave Maria.
