Hope things are well with her and your family Greg.

A couple of things: 18 y/o teens just don’t get lobectomies. Did they find the reason for her infection and make a diagnosis? There are a couple of reasons for the lobectomy and none of them good, but some are worse than others i.e. cancer. The tissue should be at pathology and they should be able to tell you what was growing if it was a bacterial or fungal infection or cancer.

Let us know what they tell you if you feel compelled.

    Check, you are absolutely correct.

The surgery was a stop gap to restore lung function and eliminate a possible infection vector.

They anticipate results tomorrow and I will let you know. The growth was not cancerous but she has been fighting both bacterial and fungal infections.

Her torso has been constantly hammered since November. They are already preparing two journal articles about the case due to its uniqueness, surgical and infectious disease.

Thank you for your concern and recommendations. I have been reaching out to all my former military medical regiment friends and unit members seeking guidance and information.

    New sources are always appreciated.

Greg, interesting indeed if they plan to write articles on the case.
If she is in the SW part of the U.S. then coccidioidomycosis (fungal) is a possibility for a lung lobectomy.

It would be interesting as well to know who the military medical regiment friends you have are or where they’re located. I spent some time in the Army healthcare field.

Oh man, she’s still just a child.

Ever since my own, I never could handle bad s~~~ happening to children or one’s so young.

All the best for a good recovery for her, Bro, prayers sent.

    Thank you as always Matrix.

While she had lots of life in front on her, I hope that it is more on her terms and not something filled with regrets. Only time will tell of course.
