A year ago we used a mediator/lawyer to come up with a separation agreement, encompassing both separation of property, custody and child support, etc.
Basically I get our son, she gets the daughter (who is younger) living out of state with her chad/white knight, we both pay child support to each other — resulting in me being the one to send a check for the amount of the net difference since I earned more. (Obviously when my son reaches age, my check amount will go up) No alimony.
I filed the divorce papers, but she seems slow to respond. I made sure to email her the mostly-filled out form for the response, which matches the divorce filing, and the divorce filing defers to the included separation agreement for everything.
I think, for cautions sake, I need to refine my contingency plan should she try to betray me, and go for more. I can survive financially as is (refinancing the house with a VA loan helped me afford the house without her income), but a change in the situation, e.g. tacking on alimony or even worse, changing the custody situation will ruin me. I’ve run the numbers on a spreadsheet.
My leaving the country upon betrayal is based upon both practical considerations (financial) and a matter of principle (I refuse to be a slave, especially to a cheating ex who is living with some dude pumping her full of cum every other night — f~~~ that, I’d rather live under a bridge than contribute to her upkeep.)
My contingency plan is as follows:
To stop making payments on my house, but to keep working and stockpiling the money until foreclosure procedures come into play, and then max out the credit cards buying gold and a way out of the country.One problem: declaring $70,000 in gold to customs. I am suspicious of them.
Second problem: best way out of the country. Air travel obviously has the highest probability of getting to my destination, but also more security to deal with (e.g. risk of having my s~~~ seized)
Third problem: risk of passport being seized after some kind of divorce court judge bulls~~~ or ex-filing bulls~~~.
Fourth problem: which country to go to that is best in terms of implementing the plan.
The basic plan is a country where I could safely and reliably and affordably have a secure safe deposit box to store $70,000 in gold but not worry about creditors coming after me. Also, where I could reasonably make visits to take small amounts of gold out to sell for local currency to buy food.
Another requirement would be a country where I could reasonably be left to my own devices without security being up my ass, but also where I have a fair chance to avoid being shanked. Also, it would have to be warm enough to not freeze at night if I’m sleeping outside. Beaches are preferable.
I’m thinking possibly Brazil.
Ways to get there would be air travel or cruise ship. I am uncertain as to how much harder it would be to smuggle out $70,000 gold via air travel or cruise ship, or if I play by the rules and declare everything, likelihood of being seized anyway.
I know of some of the potential pitfalls, such as lack of medical care being an issue when I get older. I just want to plan to work, if it ends up being needed.

If could reforge the gold into some kind of heavy jewelry that wold be easier to smuggle probably.

I wasn’t planning on having any doors that can be knocked on, nor any residence. Just a retired beach bum that from time to time gets a little gold, sells it, then buys food and the occasional replacement clothing.

One idea I had was taking the gold and wrapping it in something that would protect it. Then making a mold of a small barbell, pouring some molten lead in it, put the covered gold in it, then pour more lead until I have a barbell made out of lead.
I suspect that would work for smuggling the gold out, and most people aren’t going to try and steal a ten-pound barbell. And a ten-pound ten-pound barbell isn’t going to seem to suspicious to security, especially if it is with a few other related stuff, such as those hand-strength things you squeeze, etc.

Couldn’t you just buy $70k of bitcoin and then convert it into cash when you are in the other country? Then buy the gold. That’s the issue the governments have with cryptocurrencies, they sit in a digital wallet that is accessible anywhere in the world.
That said, if you have filed the paperwork, isn’t there a set time limit where if she doesn’t contest the divorce it is just granted? I think in my state it’s only like 90 days. We filed together so it would go faster, but we easily could have just had one of us file and the other not contest. I would look into that first. It may just be a quick trip to the court house to get the judge to sign the decree.

How to exchange precious metals for local currency is the main issue that I can see out right. I don’t know if you could hire a foreign investment banker to purchase and hold the gold remotely, but this would resolve the issue of having physical assets anyone could question. I don’t have any plans of leaving the US so that hasn’t been high on my list of issues, but I do no that Japan for one is going to legislate that crypto’s are a legitimate currency. In that case, you could just spend the bitcoin in any retailer just like cash.

I CAN buy BitCoins on credit cards, and they are legal to use in Philippines, Vietnam and Brazil.
The main thing would be obtaining gold overseas with the BitCoins. Once I get the gold into a safety deposit box, I’d go ghost. I doubt Interpol or FBI is going to be looking for me on a 3rd world beach for just $70,000 in credit card debt, student loans or child support issues, or commit the manpower and resources.

Almost any place in Brazil is unsafe at night, and the beaches at dusk, forget it, it’s a death wish. If you don’t believe me use Google street view to take a look, anywhere, you’ll see walled residences, barbed wire and electric fences to the north, south, east and west.

Its entirely possible that I’m being paranoid, but I’ve learned to be paranoid in dealing with women.
I can think of 3 reasons why she is taking her time mailing out the form for the divorce response.
1) She has some regrets about divorce, so she is taking her time finalizing the divorce. (She did monkey branch sex with me on a visit to my house picking up the rest of her stuff last summer. I stupidly f~~~ed her because I was between females at the time. Does show how much she values her white knight/chad — she could have not f~~~ed me and f~~~ed him the following night instead.)
2) She wants to VERY carefully read over the response form I filled out that matches the divorce filing which defers to our separation agreement. She may be paranoid that *I* might have changed something from the separation. I did not.
3) She might just be f~~~ing lazy (I know this for a fact) and simply has no f~~~s to give about my peace of mind, or getting it over quickly.

On Numbeo, in terms of crime and safety, Philippines is rated as safer than Vietname, which is rated as a quantum leap above Brazil in terms of safety.
I suppose I could email Hans Mills again (he’s the guy who got divorced raped by his greedy ex and fled Canada for the Philippines). I managed to find his email and chatted with him via email in 2014 about the potential for having to leave the US in a few years should I get divorce raped.
