She definitely planned this well in advance. She had maintained ownership of her townhouse when we got married. There were tenants living there. She had to give them 60+ days notice to vacate. So, as I wrote in my intro, the whole time she was telling me she “wasn’t sure” whenever I asked about staying in the marriage or not she was simply waiting for tenants to vacate.

Seeing my attorney again tomorrow. We’ll see how this plays out.

As the others have wisely counseled you, this is just the opening salvo. The real s~~~ is still to come.

You can’t do much to against the gynocentric biases embedded in the courts and laws. Filing for divorce first can help you somewhat, but it’s very likely she’s already ahead of you there too. After all, she was able to nearly clean out the house the 24 hours or so you were away.

It’s readily apparent that she’s been actively planning while you’ve only been thinking about planning. You’re going to be paying catch up.

Check out realworlddivorce DOT com It covers most of the Anglosphere and, if you’re in the US, has a specific section for the state you live.

Good luck. Her surprise attack could have been much worse.

Do not date. Do not impregnate. Do not co-habitate. Above all, do not marry. Reclaim and never again surrender your personal sovereignty.

    Happened to me too.
    I cried like a bitch.
Didn’t realize it was my ticket to freedom.

I had some inside information about when my ex was going to move out. She had planned to move out while I was at work on a Friday and she planned to clean out the entire house. I went to work as usual and came home around 9:30 AM and there she was with the movers taking everything out of the house. Of course she denied she was doing that, but it was obvious what was happening. At first the movers refused to unload my belongings from their truck (we had a property agreement) until I told them I was going to call the police and have them charged with theft of my belongings while I waved the agreement in their faces. That changed their minds and as they unloaded everything I calmly sorted my things out and made them take them back into the house. They put her belongings back on the truck. Once the movers were gone I kicked her ass out of the front yard and I changed the locks with ones I had acquired the previous day. It was such a gratifying day! She never knew why I came home when I did nor did she know I had inside information and how I got it. Suffice it to say that her friends were not as loyal as she thought they were, which, in itself, is still amazing to me.

Anyway, congratulations brother!!! It is great that she has moved out. I know how good you’ll feel once the crap is over. I don’t have to tell you to never get into that situation again. AWALT!!! CONGRATULATIONS again!!!
