    What legal trouble?

See pages one to three of this thread.

Any my countless posts on how I would doxx the owner of the site in a snap, if I were in the USA.

In July of 2018, this honey pot forum was sold out to an unidentified NPC sock puppet and troll organization. Most independent thinkers and writers migrated to other MGTOW forums as a result of the never-ending infighting and deliberate trouble starting caused by members who were given "carte blanche" by the admin to do whatever they want. Before my departure, I only left a few thousand cat pics here to comfort and ridicule the feminist owners who now run this place. Their background agenda is to make MGTOW look like a club of losers the public eye. And during the course of 2019, they actually managed to destroy almost all other MGTOW venues as well. Here is the truth about "theindependentman.org" aka "TIM" which was created as an extended workbench to further divide the community. Who is ‘we’, and why are you not publicising it?

The troll gang here went as far as claiming that I was going back to the plantation to defame me.

And when I started “advertising” for my new threads and new posts, they immediately shut up.

Why does such s~~~ fly here?

    TELL ME?

And “WE” are those 30 posters who once filled this forum here …

And are they okay with your attempts to close down MGTOW.com?

    Is it really that important?

I cannot shut down this site and I have no intention.

After all, where do my cat pics go?

I still have 7000 posts – LONG POSTS – that brought me many personal “thank you’s” from men who wanted to show me appreciation and feared running into the troll gang.

I have the least interest in shutting my voice down.

My 3400 threads (65 of my own) are still out in the Google index and help many men who cannot even register.

    Which is good.

Since the moment they register, they run into the arrogance and insult clouds from those who NOW run this place.

I have proven this fact over and over – and the total “wall of ignorance” here shows me that I am dealing with sock puppets who run a rigged game on unsuspecting men.

It can’t be any other way.

I am writing this for the outside lurkers and not for the “concrete heads” here. Those are sock puppets anyway.

See pages one to three of this thread.

I have read it and there is nothing there except wild, unsubstantiated assertions. There is nothing remarkable about hosting by proxy either. In the circumstances, it’s quite understandable – there are simply too many crazies out there.

If the site has been sold, it should be quite easy to prove it.

The managers of this site would have to clean up…

I gladly help since I documented most things…

I am gone in any case. I will no longer contribute.

But the site needs cleaned with a banhammer.

The way our 2016 Keymaster used to to do it.

    Then it can recover.

Here is where I see “intention”…

The site has had a few 100 payers… And the owner must have made some 1000 to 3000 Bucks a month on it.

And this is more than a large percentage of the population make as a monthly take home pay.

Why let this go to s~~~ when cleaning up could be done with little effort? We “s~~~ty kids” who are now gone helped KM in every aspect to clean the site from trolls. Our help was not “wanted”… (The in-fighting is part of the scheme here and shutting it down was obviously not in the interest of the “owner”)

We “s~~~ty kids” now started a new forum and the guys who worked themselves into the WordPress matter say that it is a snap to give admin rights to helpers and to manage accounts…

We were lied to, strung along and gaslighted.

    And why?

    Sky-O is probably right.

The site is not managed by a “friend of MGTOW”

WordPress experts confirmed to me that fixing these bugs here would be a 2 hour job…

And since these things work on other sites… I believe them.

If the site has been sold, it should be quite easy to prove it.

Let Kittymaster do a 30 second interview on TFM, reading TODAY’s headlines.

    I know: Too much effort…

Or post an audio of his voice… Just as much effort as I put into some Big John features.

    LOL.

Too busy, too much to do… A broken record.

15 minutes of effort would have saved KittyMaster HOURS of justifying his “authenticity” on that other thread I saw.

Upload the audio somewhere and post a link. Just as hard as posting a cat pic.

    LOL

And where are the 6 co-admins the 2016 Keymaster had?

None alerted KM to put out the fire?

So where is the “admin network” (quote) “in different time zones” our 2016 Keymaster had?

    Not one left.

Not one to even send me a PM outside of the WordPress admin page.

Go back and read the entire thread.

Skip cat videos at your free will. They are needed to keep the pages in the Google index and attract visitors. LOL.

    How to Groom a Cat

    Three Parts:

    – Maintaining Your Cat’s Coat
    – Addressing Problems While Grooming
    – Caring for Your Cat’s Hygiene

Cats are generally very clean pets and groom themselves.[1] But some cats may not be able to adequately groom themselves, such as when they have fleas or very long fur.[2] But by maintaining your cat’s coat and caring for her other hygiene needs such as clipping her claws, you can keep your cat groomed.

    Part 1

    Maintaining Your Cat’s Coat

Brush your cat’s fur. Cats have either short or long hair.[3] Even though a cat will groom her own fur, brushing it keeps her coat especially lush by removing dirt, grease, and dead hair.[4] In addition, brushing your cat can be a wonderful bonding experience for the two of you.
Use a cat-specific metal comb or rubber brush to brush your cat.[5] Brush your kitty once or twice a week, or more often if she is a longhair type, or if she is shedding a lot, to keep her coat glowing.[6]
Keep in mind that cats generally don’t like to be restrained. Approach her slowly and hold her gently while you brush your cat.[7] You can also brush her when she is sleeping or sitting in your lap but be careful not to wake her up, brush her gently but not too gently.. just normal!.[8]
Brush slowly so you don’t startle your cat. Give her praise or treats as you continue brushing her.

Clip your kitty’s fur. Most cat’s will never need their fur clipped or trimmed. However, your kitty may need clipping or trimming in some cases, such as she has long fur that is matting, which can cause health problems.[9] Trim or clip your kitty’s fur only if it is absolutely necessary or consider allowing a professional groomer to clip her fur.
Use only clippers for animals and take frequent breaks so you don’t burn your kitty’s skin.[10]
Use gentle pressure when clipping your cat. Lightly guide the clippers along your cat’s body. Leave at least an inch of hair, which can prevent hair growth problems and skin issues.[11]
Be very careful around the cat’s ears, anus, genitals, underbelly and legs so that you don’t hurt your cat.
Touch up with or use scissors if you prefer.[12]
Consider hiring a professional cat groomer to trim your pet’s fur. Remember that cat’s don’t enjoy being restrained, which may lead to injuries if you decide to clip her.[13] Ask your vet if she offers these services or can recommend a professional cat groomer.

    Bathe your cat.

Although you cat’s tongue and teeth are built-in grooming tools that can tackle her fur care needs, you might occasionally need to bathe her if she gets into something sticky or stinky.[14] Following these tips can minimize stress to your kitty and ensure efficiency in getting out the offensive matter in her fur:
Give her the bath when she is most mellow and consider trimming her claws, brushing her and placing a bit of cotton in her ears before the bath to minimize your risk of getting scratched.
Put a rubber bath mat in the sink or tub so your cat doesn’t slip. Fill the sink or bath with 3-4 inches of lukewarm water and use a hand-held spray hose, pitcher, or cup to wet your kitty.
Massage her with one part cat shampoo to five parts water in the direction of her fur growth and avoiding her face, ears, and eyes. Rinse off your cat thoroughly with lukewarm water before wiping her face with a moist washcloth.
Wrap her in a large and let her dry in a warm place. You can use a hair dryer on the lowest setting if your cat doesn’t mind.
Make sure to offer her lots of praise and treats for a successful bathing session.[15]

Visit a professional cat groomer. If you don’t have the time or patience to care for your cat’s fur or hygiene, consider hiring a professional groomer. Be aware that this can be expensive, but can save you time and be less traumatic for your cat.
Your local vet, humane society, or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to animals can suggest local groomers for your cat. You can also ask friends and family members for recommendations.
Consider visiting groomers’ businesses before you send your cat. This will let you get a sense of the facility and see if the groomer is kind to your cat.

    Part 2
    Addressing Problems While Grooming

Check for skin problems. Whenever you brush, clip, or bathe your cat, check her skin for bumps, bald spots, or cuts. This can indicate health problems such as allergies or stress.[16] See your vet if you find any strange or unexplained anomalies on your cat’s skin or fur. Some skin problems your cat may have are:
Parasitic infections from fleas, ear mites, or harvest mites
Fungal infections such as ringworm or yeast infections
Infections from excess bacteria on the skin
Viral infections such as feline cowpox
    Feline acne or seborrhea
Immune disorders such as allergies and feline eosinophilic granuloma complex
    Sun damage like skin cancer
    Contact dermatitis
    Drug reactions
    Fur loss due to stress
    Trauma from accidents or collars.[17]

    Kill fleas.

If you find fleas on your kitty during grooming or the course of caring for her daily, you’ll need to get rid of them as soon as possible. Fleas can make your kitty itch, lead to skin problems, or even other health issues such as having tapeworms.
Recognize that fleas are the most common external parasite in pets.[18] They feed on the blood of your cat and are visible through droppings of “flea dirt” or white flea eggs on your cat, persistent itching or scratching, or hair loss.[19]
Get a diagnosis from your vet of fleas and ask for the best treatment of them.[20] Your vet may suggest topical or oral treatments, shampoos, sprays, or powders.[21]
Follow the packaging instructions and make sure to not use medication on your cat or any other pets unless it is designated for that specific animal. Be aware that you’ll need to treat other animals in your home and thoroughly clean your house to help get rid of fleas and their eggs.[22]
Consider treating your lawn if your cat goes outside.[23]

    Remove visible ticks.

Another common parasite that cats who go outside can get are ticks. These arachnids can spread serious diseases to your cat, so check her whenever your groom her or she comes indoors. Remove the tick and take your cat to the vet to ensure that she doesn’t have any further ticks or tick-related conditions.[24]
Be aware that most ticks are visible to the naked eye. They are about the size of a pinhead but swell as they feed on your cat’s blood.[25]
Put on a pair of rubber or latex gloves and grasp the tick with a pair of tweezers. Pull straight upwards in a steady motion and place the tick in a jar of rubbing alcohol for veterinary testing.[26]
Disinfect the area of your cat’s fur with soap and water, wash your hands and tweezers, too.[27]

Get rid of ear mites. Tiny parasites called ear mites are also common in cats, though mostly in kittens and younger cats.[28] They are highly contagious and can lead to skin and hearing problems.[29]
Recognize ear mites by a black, coffee ground-like discharge in your cats ears.[30]
Take your cat to the vet to confirm a diagnosis of ear mites. The vet will give you treatment to get rid of the mites and soothe your cat’s itchy ears. She may also suggest ways to clean your cat’s ears if you suspect mites in the future.[31] Follow any instructions the vet gives you for medication.
Be aware that ear mites are highly contagious and other animals in your home will also require treatment.[32]
Clean mites from your kitty’s ears by wrapping her in a towel when she is calm and holding her earflap out with one hand. Use your other hand to squeeze out a cotton ball drenched in ear cleaner at the opening of her ear canal.[33] Use ear cleaner specially-formulated for cats that you can buy either at a pet store or get from your vet.
Release your cat, which may result in some shaking and dislodging of debris. After a few minutes reassure your cat and wipe any debris from her ears with a dry cotton ball. Repeat the process in the other ear.[34]

Take care of problem scents and substances. Sometimes your cat might get herself into something, such as paint or a skunk, that leaves her especially dirty or in need of a bath. Taking care of these problems as soon as possible can help maintain your cat’s health and hygiene.
Flush the eyes and mouth of a cat sprayed by a skunk with water and give her a bath if necessary. If the spray was heavy, take her to her vet for blood work to ensure she doesn’t develop anemia.[35]
Bathe your cat as soon as possible if she gets oil or paint on herself. Cats are naturally inclined to lick themselves clean and you want to avoid this if you can.[36] If your cat has a lot of oil on her fur, you may want to have your vet sedate and clean her.[37]

    Part 3
    Caring for Your Cat’s Hygiene

Monitor your cat’s ears. Your kitty should get routine checkups at a vet, which includes checking on the health of her ears. But in between vet visits, it’s important to check your kitty’s ears once a week for wax, debris, or infection.[38]
Check her outer ear flap, or pinna, to make sure it has no bald spots and that its inner surface is clean and light pink.[39]
Examine her inner ear by folding back each ear and looking down into the canal.[40] Make sure there is no debris, odor, and minimal ear wax. The color should be light pink.[41]
Use a cotton ball dampened in liquid cat ear cleansing solution.[42] Fold back your cat’s ear and gently wipe away any debris.[43] Avoid probing or poking anything into the ear canal, which can cause trauma or infection.[44]
Take your cat to the vet if you notice any discharge, caked wax, redness, swelling, bleeding, or unpleasant odor.[45]

Trim your cat’s nails. Every few weeks, your cat may need her nails trimmed.[46] This helps prevent breaking, infection, and an irregular gait because her nails are too long.[47]
Use only a nail clipper designed for cats. Purchase this item a pet store or your vet’s office.[48]
Wrap your kitty in a towel to prevent her from scratching and/ or ask a friend to hold your cat while you clip her nails.[49]
Trim your cat’s nails slowly and methodically so you minimize the risk of hurting her.[50] Avoid clipping too close to the quick, which is the blood vessel inside of the nail.[51] Clip above this area and hold your cat’s paw firmly and cut the nail in a single stroke.
Use a clotting agent if you accidentally cut the quick.[52]
Give kitty a treat for a successful nail clipping session.[53]
Avoid forcing your cat to endure trimming. Ask a vet or groomer to clip the nails to prevent injury to your cat—or you.[54]
Remember that your cat needs to scratch to maintain the health of her paws. Offer her a scratching post and check her paws for wounds.[55]

Maintain kitty’s oral health. Every cat needs clean, sharp teeth and healthy gums. Dental disease is a common problem seen by veterinarians.[56] Checking your kitty’s mouth and keeping it clean with brushing and regular vet visits can help keep disease at bay and your cat’s breath fresh.[57]
Push back your kitty’s gums gently when she is facing you during daily oral care. Make sure her gums are firm and pink and not swollen. Her teeth should be clean and free of brownish tartar and show no signs of being loose or broken.[58]
Brush your kitty’s teeth daily with a cotton swab or kitty toothbrush and a feline toothpaste. You can also use salt and water. Ask your vet for product recommendations.[59] Start by gently massaging your cat’s gums with your fingers or touching a cotton swab to them and then proceed to the cleaning.[60]
Take your cat to a vet if you notice abnormally strong odor, which can indicate digestive problems or gingivitis.[61] You should also look out for dark red lines along the gums, red and swollen gums, mouth ulcers, loose teeth, difficulty chewing food, excessive drooling, or pawing at her mouth.[62]
Remember to praise and soothe your kitty for good behavior while brushing.

Your feline will look (and feel!) like the cat’s meow after a good grooming session.

By nature, cats are extremely fastidious. You’ve no doubt watched your kitty washing herself several times a day. For the most part she can take care of herself very well, thank you, but sometimes she’ll need a little help from you.
Make Grooming as Enjoyable as Possible — For the Both of You

Grooming sessions should be fun for the both of you, so be sure to schedule them when your cat’s relaxed, perhaps after exercise or eating. You want your pet to remember grooming sessions in a positive way, so you never want to risk losing your temper. If you’ve had a stressful day or are in a bad mood, it’s probably not a good time to groom your cat.

Keep your first grooming sessions short-just 5 to 10 minutes. Gradually lengthen the time until your pet is used to the routine. You should also get your pet used to being handled. Get in the habit of petting every single part of your cat-including ears, tail, belly and back-and especially the feet!

And keep in mind, a little patience can go a long way. If your cat is extremely stressed out, cut the session short and try again when she’s calmer. Unfortunately, most cats do not like baths, so you may need another person to help. And remember to pile on the praise and offer her a treat when the session is over.
    Brushing

Regular sessions with a brush or comb will help keep your pet’s hair in good condition by removing dirt, spreading natural oils throughout her coat, preventing tangles and keeping her skin clean and irritant-free.

If your cat has short hair, you only need to brush once a week:

First, use a metal comb and work through her fur from head to tail.
Next, use a bristle or rubber brush to remove dead and loose hair.
Be extra-gentle near her chest and belly.

If your cat has long hair, you will need to brush every day:

Start by combing her belly and legs; be sure to untangle any knots.
Next, brush her fur in an upward motion with a bristle or rubber brush.
To brush her tail, make a part down the middle and brush the fur out on either side.

    How To Groom A Cat

Not only does grooming make your cat look good but it also has a number of health benefits. Getting involved in your cat’s grooming routine can bring the two of you closer together.
    Grooming feels and looks good

Cats are famous for their fastidious grooming and rarely need prompting from outsiders.

Regular grooming helps to stimulate circulation, improve tone and minimise hairb~~~~ in the stomach by removing loose hairs.

Grooming also smoothes down the fur to insulate the body more efficiently and stimulates the glands at the base of the hairs which acts to waterproof the coat.

In hot weather, licking spreads saliva that cools your cat as it evaporates. Grooming also spreads sebum (natural oil that protects and waterproofs the hair and skin) across the coat.

While your cat is capable of grooming itself, getting involved is an opportunity to check if they have any external parasites and skin wounds. It also provides you and your pet with quality bonding time.

Start grooming your cat as early as possible, ideally when they are still a kitten and make it part of a regular routine.
    How to groom

For shorthaired cats, use a fine-toothed metal comb weekly and a natural-bristle or rubber brush to remove any dead hairs.

Gently brush your cat’s hair in the direction it grows. Use the bristle brush to sweep the coat up, and then smooth it down again.

For longhaired cats, groom daily with a steel comb. Any knots can be teased out with your fingers or cut carefully with blunt-ended scissors. You may want to get your vet to help you as it is very easy to cut the skin.

If grooming is a struggle, try offering food treats, stroking and talking reassuringly. Gently start to groom as your cat’s attention turns to the treat.

The ultimate guide to grooming your cat

    Share (LOL)

While many people think of cats as low-maintenance pets who just require the odd brush and trim, the truth is your cat can benefit enormously from a regular checking, grooming, and cleaning program. This guide explains how to do a regular health check-up (to supplement regular vet check-ups) at home, and how to effectively groom and clean your cat.
    Checking your cat

How and when to check your cat

Give your cat a quick check over when they hop onto your lap for a scratch, but also make time at least once a month to perform a thorough check. This allows you to detect any possible problems earlier rather than later, but keep in mind these DIY checks cannot replace annual visits1 to the vet (or six-monthly visits for older cats) for a professional health check.
    Ears

Look over your cat’s ears to detect any issues including dirt lodged in ears, excessive wax build-up, bleeding, debris, sores, discharge, or inflammation. Also of concern are ear mites, which are harder to see but usually leave a smelly reddish/brown discharge in the ear, and cats with ear mites tend to scratch their ears.2

While a little bit of wax is normal, there should not be any unpleasant odours. Also look along the edges of the ears for any marks, bumps, lumps, thickening, scaling, redness, or lesions.3 If any of these are present, consult your vet immediately.
    Eyes

Your cat’s eyes should be clear, bright, and free of any redness, swelling, or discharge.3 If any of these symptoms are present it could be a sign of infection, in which case you should contact your vet for appropriate treatment.
    Nose

A healthy cat’s nose is typically moist and smooth. Gentle touching will tell you whether or not your cat’s nose has any bumps, lumps, or swelling. Ulcers are another thing to look out for, along with any other marking or wounds that are taking a long time to heal. Any discharge coming from your cat’s nose could be a sign of infection.4
    Mouth, teeth, and gums

In healthy cats, teeth are clean and white, and free of chipping. Check gums for any sores or lesions. Your cat’s gums should be pink and healthy looking without any redness, swelling, or bleeding.5

If possible, check the back of your cat’s mouth for any ulcers, swelling lesions, or lumps. Your cat’s breath should not have a foul odour, so if you find their breath is suddenly unpleasant, or if you have noticed their breath getting more smelly, take them to your vet for a check-up. Make sure you are regularly brushing your cat’s teeth; finger brushes and pet toothpastes are essential for this task.
    Breathing

Take note of your cat’s breathing, which should be even and effortless. If there is any wheezing or labouring as they breathe, or if they seem short of breath and have an erratic rhythm, check in with your vet about any potential problems.3
    Coat and skin

You can tell a lot about the state of your cat’s health from the condition of their coat and skin. If your cat is engaging in excessive chewing, scratching or licking, it may be time for a check up.

Stress, parasites, wounds or allergies could all be having an impact on your cat’s health and should be looked into.3
    Claws

Cat’s claws, especially those of indoor cats, need regular trimming. Check your cat’s claws to see if they are too long, and if you are experienced with trimming them, cut them yourself. If you are not confident about trimming your cat’s claws, take your cat to a professional groomer who can do it without causing harm.6
    Body and mobility

As you pet your cat check for any lumps, bumps, or unusual swelling. Similarly, look out for any signs of pain or tension when you come into contact with certain parts of their body. Watch your cat moving around and check for any signs of stiffness or pain.

    Trimming your cat’s claws
    Why trim your cat’s claws?

Trimming your cat’s claws is purposed towards getting rid of the sharp points. This not only reduces the risk of damage to your furniture; it allows you to play and interact with your cat without having to worry about scratches and painful skin punctures.

There are also health benefits for your cat, as taking the sharp ends off helps him or her avoid the pain of having sore, broken claws that can result from a sharp tip getting caught in carpet or other things around the house. To remove these sharp tips you’ll need to get a professional groomer’s6 help or learn to do it yourself.
    Using the clipper

When buying a nail clipper, make sure you choose a quality and appropriately sized clipper from a pet store or from your vet. Cat and dog clippers are not the same, and you should always choose cat nail clippers to prevent causing your pet harm.

You should also remember to first allow your cat to get used to the nail clipper. If your cat has been exposed to clippers since he or she was a kitten, then it should be an easy process. However if you’re starting off clipping an older cat, make sure you complete the process gradually. Start by getting your cat used to you touching and handling their paws. Make sure they are used to sitting in your lap and feel comfortable with your touch.

Gently touch their paws. At any sign of negative body language, such as ears folding back, moving tail, or other signs of tension, stop until cat relaxes again. Once you have reached the stage where they are comfortable with you touching their paws, you can progress to pressing on their paw gently to expose their nails.3

Veterinarian Dr Christianne Schelling demonstrates how to appropriately clip your cat’s nails in this YouTube clip.

If they are comfortable with this, bring the clipper and just touch it to their paw. Do this until they are comfortable with the presence of the clipper, after which you can proceed to clipping the sharp portion of just one nail tip – rather than shortening nails as you would with a dog. Sometimes your cat will only let you do one or two in a sitting. Let them be and try to do one more the next day, and so on.
    Brushing and grooming your cat

Grooming your cat decreases the occurrence of hairb~~~~ and prevents tangles. Grooming also helps alert you to ticks, wounds, lumps and skin problems in your cat, so you can monitor and maintain your cat’s health effectively.7 Cats will groom themselves by licking, but you can help out your cat and keep their coat in top condition by contributing to their grooming routine.
    When to brush your cat

It’s best to start from an early age as this allows your kitten to get used to the brushing.8 Younger kittens are less experienced at grooming themselves, so they will benefit from your help. Older cats might need extra help to reach certain places. As such, you should help with grooming your cat throughout their lifetime, from kitten-hood to the senior years. Longhaired cats might need daily brushing to prevent matting3, while shorthaired cats generally require less maintenance.
    How to brush your cat

When approached gently and in short sessions, grooming can be comfortable (or even enjoyable) for both you and your cat.7 Start slowly, aiming to eventually brush the entire body, including the back legs, behind the arms, and other areas that might seem hard to reach. If your cat resists the brushing session, don’t try and force them if they seem unhappy or want to move away from the brush. Instead, you could try brushing just one section at different times of the day for as long or short a time as your cat is comfortable.

Some great tips for successful grooming include the following:

Start your grooming routine when they’re young, as this way your cat will learn to accept brushing from infancy.8
Try using different combs and brushes, and choose ones that are appropriate for the length of your cat’s coat. Bristles can be hard, soft, wire, or pin, and you can also use grooming gloves that you wear over the hand. Softer brushes tend to make cats more comfortable, so consider starting with soft brushes and working your way up to the harder ones, which tend to be more effective.7
Keep brushes next to where your cat likes to nap so you can quickly seize the moment to groom your feline friend.
Use human toothbrushes for hard-to-reach areas such as the spots around the ears.
Start with gentle strokes to get your cat in the mood, and start with the back of the brush to get your cat used to the brush.
Make sure the room or space is silent, relaxed, and free of other stimulations such as playing children, other pets or excessive noise.
Give your cat treats afterwards so they will learn to associate grooming time with positive outcomes. Always end on good terms with a rub and treat.

    Bathing your cat

Cats have in-built grooming tools in the form of their tongue and teeth, and usually they are fussy about self-cleaning, so regular grooming by brushing is usually sufficient.

However, there will be times when your feline friend needs a little extra help in the cleaning department – for example, when he or she has come into contact with something sticky or smelly, or has become very dirty.3 Most cats hate bathing and will find the process stressful, so make sure you do it right – and only do it if necessary – and prepare by having the right tools and supplies ready.
    Shampoos to use

Never use human shampoo on cats as they are unsuitable for cat hair and may dry out their skin.3 For a water bath, use a cleansing and deodorising shampoo formulated with natural ingredients.

For cats with dry skin, try a dry skin and conditioning shampoo. Other types of shampoo that you might consider using depending on the condition of your feline friend’s coat are flea or tick control shampoos that have been designed specifically for cats, and shampoos for shedding and hairb~~~~. It’s important that you don’t use flea or tick shampoos that are designed for dogs on your cat, as they can prove dangerous to your feline’s health. It’s recommended that pet owners always check the label of any pet product to ensure that the product is safe for their species of pet, whether that be cat or dog.
    Getting your supplies ready

Make sure you have everything ready before bringing your cat in for a wash. The supplies that you will need include:

Cat shampoo (and cat conditioner if necessary).
    Towels.
Comb, or brush for longer haired cats.
Jug or other container for rinsing.
Rubber mat or towel, placed in the sink or tub to prevent slipping.

    Bathing

Start by brushing your cat and getting rid of much dirt as possible then fill the bath or sink with just enough warm – never hot – water to wash your cat.

Sometimes food treats and/or the help of another person to hold your cat can make the process easier for both you and your cat. If your cat is biting or scratching a lot during bathing, or appears to become distressed, stop bathing your cat and check with your vet for advice. You might be able to get someone else more experienced such as your vet or a groomer to bathe your cat without issues.

Next, apply a small amount of cat shampoo and warm water to the dirty or stained area only. If you are washing the full body, avoid the head area and only soap up the rest of the body. This includes your cat’s neck, underside, and tail.

If you want to clean their face, use a damp towel to wipe it down. Never dunk their head into the water or splash water into their face. Only a damp towel should be used on your cat’s face and ears.

To rinse your cat, fill the jug with some warm water and cover your cat’s eyes and ears as you gently rinse the rest of their body. Repeat with a conditioner if you are using conditioner. Make sure you rinse off any shampoo and conditioner thoroughly as you don’t want your cat to be swallowing any residue shampoo when they next groom themselves.

Finally, set your cat on a towel and allow them to shake off excess water. Help them along with towel drying rather than a hair dryer, as the sound might frighten your cat.
    Alternatives to water bathing

Getting a professional groomer to bathe your kitty is one option if your cat absolutely hates baths, but another alternative is to use bath wipes specifically designed for cats. These wipes are designed to clean your cat like a bath, but without the water. You can also use cat bath wipes to clean your cat in hard-to-reach areas, do spot cleaning if your cat’s fur has a dirty spot, or if your cat has been unable to groom himself or herself due to illness.

When purchasing a cat bath wipe, always choose one with natural ingredients and without harsh chemicals. Do spot testing to make sure your cat isn’t allergic before using the wipe. Only use these when needed, as you can dry out your cat’s coat when you use them too often.
    Tips for successful cat bathing

Determine if washing your cat is really required. Most cats will clean themselves and don’t require bathing, however some will need an extra hand such as older cats.
Set up all your equipment and supplies before bringing your cat in. This way, they spend minimal time in the water.
Brush your cat before the bath to get rid of as much dirt as possible.
Always use cat-friendly shampoos and conditioners only.3
Check that the water is warm and not cold or hot before bringing your cat into the tub.3
Rinse thoroughly to ensure all shampoo and conditioner is rinsed away.
Do not use water or soap on your cat’s head area. Only ever wipe with a damp towel to clean this area.
Reassure your cat by talking to them gently during the bathing.
Leave them to dry in a warm space without drafts after their bath, and make sure they are comfortable with a hair dryer if you decide to use one.
Be patient and calm throughout the process.
Starting early with baths gives your cat the best chance to get used to bathing.8 Older cats will find it much harder to adjust to water baths.

Grooming – Tips for caring for your cat’s coat

    Pet library (LOL)

Cats are notorious for effective self-grooming. However there are times when you may need to intervene. Learn about the benefits of grooming your cat, how to get started, when to groom, the equipment you can use, bathing your cat and when to stop.
    Benefits of grooming your cat

Grooming your cat has a number of benefits:-

Prevents formation of hairb~~~~ which can cause intestinal blockages
Stimulates oil production for a healthy, shiny coat
Provides the opportunity to check for fleas, ear mites, lumps or bumps
Reinforces the bond between you and your cat

    Start Early

If you acquire a kitten, it is a good idea to get your cat accustomed to being groomed from a very early age. Gradually increase the amount of time you spend grooming your cat until it becomes a part of your cat’s daily routine.
Avoid forcible grooming or restraint as this can cause stress and grooming will become a negative experience for your cat.
    Shorthaired Cats

Equipment: Fine-toothed flea/tick comb; bristle brush, rubber mitten or grooming pad, damp cotton or rubber glove.
    How often: Once a week.

Ensure your cat is relaxed and happy. Use the flea comb to check for flea excreta (flea dirt). If you find any, speak to us about flea control options.
Use your fingers to loosen dead hair by massaging in the direction of the cat’s head. Then start use the brush or grooming pad to gently brush from the head down to the tail, removing the dead hair and stimulating the blood supply to the skin. Remove loose hairs with the damp cotton or rubber glove. Finish on a positive note with treats and praise.
    Longhaired Cats

Equipment: Wide-toothed comb, rubber mitten or grooming pad. There are also a number of different grooming products available, for example rakes, slickers and detangle sprays. Try a range of different products to find what works best for you and your cat.
    How often: Once a day.

As for shorthaired cats, ensure your cat is relaxed and happy. Before grooming, massage the skin thoroughly by gently rubbing your fingers against the hair growth from tail to head, checking for flea excreta. (If you are concerned about fleas, contact us for advice on flea control options or for further information read Fleas – solving a flea problem). Use the wide-tooth comb to remove dead hair, taking extra care of the thin, sensitive skin under the cat’s armpits and between the hind legs.
Use the rubber mitten or pad to remove excess dead hair and do a final sweep over the coat with a damp cotton or rubber glove to remove any loose hairs that remain. If your cat becomes restless or stressed, stop and then start again when your cat is relaxed. Reward with praise and treats.
    Dematting

Matts (or knots) can be extremely uncomfortable for a cat and difficult to remove at home. Preventative grooming is the key, however if you do come across a matt, tease it apart gently using your fingers, working slowly from the root towards the end of the hair. Do not be tempted to use scissors as it is very easy to cut your cat!
More severe matts will need to be shaved off and will usually need to be performed at a veterinary hospital (see more information below).
    Bathing

Most cats do not tolerate bathing well, so if your cat is healthy there is usually no reason to give your cat a bath. For some cats, bathing can make life easier for those people who are allergic to cats. With longhaired cats it is advisable to keep the hair trimmed short around the bottom to prevent occasional soiling by faeces.
Signs of Stress – When To Stop

The following are some of the more subtle indications that the cat may be feeling uncomfortable. Interaction should be stopped when any of these signs are visible.

    Skin rippling or twitching
Tail swishing, thumping or twitching at the end
Sharp turn of cat’s head to face your hand or the brush
Cat suddenly freezes or becomes tense
Cat’s ears flick or rotate backwards
    Cat swallows or licks lips
    Cat shakes it’s head
Cat performs a short lasting but rapid burst of grooming to body
    Cat growls or hisses

help! You are unable to groom your cat at home

We frequently meet cats who require grooming under sedation. This is often the case with cats who have matted coats. In these circumstances your cat will require a veterinary check-up prior to the sedation/anaesthetic. When your cat is under sedation we will perform a ‘lion clip’, leaving your cat with fur on the tail, head and lower legs.

    Bathing Your Cat

With her built-in grooming tools (tongue and teeth), your fastidious feline is well-equipped to tackle her own hair care needs. But if she is very dirty or gets into something sticky or smelly, you may need to give her a bath. Follow these steps to ensure minimal stress and maximum efficiency.

    Brushing Your Cat

Brushing your cat not only removes dirt, grease and dead hair from her coat, but it helps to remove skin flakes and stimulates blood circulation, improving the overall condition of her skin. One or two brushings per week will help kitty to keep her healthy glow—and you’ll find that regular sessions are especially beneficial when your cat ages and is no longer able to groom so meticulously on her own.

    Skin Problems

The condition of your cat’s skin is an indication of her overall health. When a skin problem occurs, your cat may respond with excessive scratching, chewing and/or licking. A wide range of causes—from external parasites and allergies to seasonal changes and stress, or a combination of these—may be affecting your cat’s skin and should be investigated. Skin problems are one of the most common reasons pet parents seek veterinary care.

    Shedding

Shedding is a cat’s natural process of losing dead hair. Indoor cats can shed all year-round. Regularly grooming your cat and vacuuming hair from your house should minimize the inconvenience of shedding. However, if you see bald patches in your cat’s fur or notice a significant loss of hair, the underlying cause may be a health-related problem and should be investigated by a veterinarian.

A good home eye exam just before grooming can clue you into any tearing, crust, cloudiness or inflammation that may indicate a health problem. Here are few simple tips to keep your kitty’s eyes bright and healthy.

Face your cat in a brightly lit area and look her in the eyes. They should be clear and bright, and the area around the eyeball should be white. Her pupils should be equal in size.
Roll down your kitty’s eyelid gently with your thumb and take a look at the lid’s lining. It should be pink, not red or white.
Wipe away any crusty gunk from your cat’s eyes with a damp cotton ball. Always wipe away from the corner of the eye, and use a fresh cotton ball for each eye. Snip away any long hairs that could be blocking her vision or poking her eyes. Try not to use eye washes or eye drops unless they’ve been prescribed by your vet.

How can you tell if there is something wrong with one or both of your cat’s eyes? Look out for the following:

    Discharge
    Watering
    Red or white eyelid linings
Crusty gunk in the corners of the eye
    Tear-stained fur
    Closed eye(s)
Cloudiness or change in eye color
    Visible third eyelid

Certain body language will also alert you to possible eye distress. If your cat is constantly squinting or pawing at her eye area, give her eyes a good inspection. If you find any of the above symptoms, you should immediately call your vet.

The following eye-related disorders are commonly seen in cats:

Conjunctivitis: One or both of your cat’s eyes will look red and swollen, and there may be discharge.
Third eyelid protrusion: If the third eyelid becomes visible or crosses your cat’s eye, he may have a wound or may be suffering from diarrhea, worms or a virus.
Keratitis: If your cat’s cornea becomes inflamed, the eye will look cloudy and watery.
Cataracts: This opacity on the eye is often seen in elderly and diabetic cats.
Glaucoma: The cornea becomes cloudy and the eye enlarges due to an increased pressure in the eyeball.
Bulging eye: Bulging can occur because of accident or trauma or an eye tumor.
Retinal disease: Partial or total vision loss can happen when light-sensitive cells at the back of the eye degenerate.
Watery eyes: The fur around your cat’s eyes may be stained with tears because of blocked tear ducts or an overproduction of tears.

Many feline eye disorders can be treated with vet-prescribed drops or ointments—your vet will show you how to apply eye and ear drops at home.

The best way to prevent eye conditions is to make sure your cat gets all her vaccinations and has thorough check-ups. Please examine her eyes regularly and consult a vet if you find any abnormalities. Eye conditions that are left untreated can lead to impaired sight or even blindness.
