What does living the dream look like to you?

My uncle is one of the happiest people I know. He always says, “I’m living the dream!” He makes about $100k per year and he’s in his 50’s. BUT he only works about 10-15 hours per week and he works 100% from home.

He says he’s living the dream because he has no wife and gets to surf / play golf / play poker all the time. He actually averages around +$1,000 on poker per month and takes it really seriously.

My dad was making millions but MISERABLE thanks to my mom. He hated life for a solid six years until they got divorced.

For me the dream would be to work from home and make at least $150k per year or more. I love that my uncle barely works I think he’s got the system figured out and BEAT. He spends most of his time outside and he’s extremely happy.

So what’s living the dream to you?

My God, what does your uncle do? I want to do that.

Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.

My uncle is also a hardcore conservative that screams at the TV and grills a lot. He’s one of the most bad ass men I’ve ever met.

I will be living the dream in five years when I start drawing four discrete retirement payouts.

I like to do the same thing as your uncle; work from home and make good money and not deal with some asshole boss and stupid co-workers. The problem is I don’t know what kind of work to do so I can live like that.

Other than that a dream of mine would be to win a big enough lottery to where I don’t have to anything with my life besides live it to the fullest.

I think being free from liability is perhaps life’s biggest comfort. Not freezing, starving or being in constant pain is right up there too. Anything else is just gravy…

    For me personally:

Two trucks & a house to park them.
    My career
Have my own company (I can go into detail in another thread if you want)
Always remembering to put God 1st.
    Be Hungry For more success.
Remember to help those less fortunate.
    Be humble
    And always hustle.

For me, living the dream is simply not to having to answer to anyone ever. I will no longer have to clap my symbols together like a good monkey; I will be free.

Also, if my c~~~ was stuffed in Luscious Lopez’s ass at the same time it wouldn’t offend me.

    Haha.

    The answer, is no.

I’m still trying to figure it out, since I invested so much of my life so heavily in the Hollywood and Society Blue Pill Myth of the American Dream…only to have it burn down around me.

Still in shock and still coming to terms with the new reality. At least things which mystified me before now make sense. And a lot of things that happened to me in my past now make sense as well.

At the moment: my concept of living the dream is just trying to be as healthy as I can, live a peaceful life, retire soon, and pursue a few hobbies.

Pretty much exactly the way I’m living right now. Young and untethered, still at the beginning of my career. Making good money, managing my finances very efficiently, and watching them improve rapidly. It feels great to be finally tasting success after so many years being a broke ass college student. Now all my plans that i spent years drawing out are coming to fruition. Best part is i take care of no one but myself…and no one else has her grubby little paws on my wallet!

I kid you not, now when people ask me how i am, i always say “living the dream baby!” AND mean it 100%.

    Doing what I do now:

    -waking up
    -working out
    -making breakfast
    -watching news
    -going work
    -hanging out with friends
    -coming home
    -watch movies
    -bed

Versus what I was doing 6 months ago:

    -waking up
-take the bitch to work (cause she has no car)
-miss workout cause the class was on when I had to take her to work
    -making breakfast
-skip news since I’m short on time and have to work MORE hours to buy bitch stuff
-work work work work work to buy bitch stuff
-dont hang out with friends cause bitch nags
-come home to hear nagging about her co-workers
-try watch something while she nags
-put her to bed like a school girl

Don’t have too many aspirations. So long as I can retire comfortably, I guess, and not kill myself with work in the meantime. Hoping it’s not too late to try to turn my health around. Maybe write some books, eventually get my own place even if it’s nothing big or fancy. Some girls would be nice provided I’d be safe from any repercussions, but I’m trying to remain a bit realistic.

Living the dream to me would be having enough dividend income to retire early as f~~~ on and spend some time living abroad. Plan is if I’m making maybe 60k in dividends and living in lower cost of living countries I’m still growing my nest egg while I’m pretty much on permanent vacation. If I get sick of that I’ll probably by a little house on a few acres in a low cost of living state and just get a few dogs to hang out with because dogs are better company than women. In general I just want to have no stress, no drama, and no bulls~~~ in my life, and not have to waste 40+ hours a week at work so I can have more time for things I enjoy more than work…which is just about everything lol.

Beer you are the f~~~ing legend. I always wanted to say that
The only problem with retirement I have – is that you’re trading fun now to fun when you’re old later. And fun when you’re old is very limited fun indeed. I do admire your long term forward-perspective though. Unfortunately, many people save for retirement hoping and dreaming for long years to come, but then they go ahead and then die young – for one reason or another. You don’t want to be one of them. It’s a balancing act. A lot of people poop on the concept of instant gratification, but the truth is, that hoarding and putting off life completely is an extreme approach also. You need to have a healthy mix of enjoying yourself and saving
Don’t listen to me, I’m drunk and high right now.

I’ve got it all planned out. Work hard now till my kid turns 18. Then, never see or talk to my ex EVER AGAIN. Move to the country, build a house with a wrap around porch. Raise a few cattle. Get a horse. Get a coyote. Train the coyote to be my personal pet. Watch the sunset every evening.

Like a bird on the wire, like a drunk midnight choir, I have tried in my way to be free.
