It ends. That is the most important lesson in life; well, at least that I have figured out. Try to plan for a long life, but don’t expect it. Life on earth is mean!

I know this is repeated often, but happiness really comes from yourself. You can’t be happy living up to people’s expectations. Just have to do what you can do to make yourself better.
Be best friends with yourself, and life is just that much better.
1. mathematics is interesting, useful, and fun.
2. study logical fallacies so that you recognize them when you see/hear them.
3. learn how to debate: understand someone’s position, repeat it back to them, decide whether you agree or not, keep in mind (2)
4. never stop learning
5. do what makes you happy, nothing else matters.
Always be yourself, unless you can be Batman. Then be Batman.

The government of any nation is only a shadow of the real power behind the scenes.
Good advice so far from thinking men!
Cut those people out of your life that are only there to suck your energy.
Don’t waste your energy trying to please people, just do what you do and surround yourself with people that appreciate and understand you.
Some people have a very narrow horizon, and call it proudly their point of view.

Good lesson
I like also, the way you remember in such detail. Your approaching apologetically, his not smiling and praying in latin. these details make it as though I was learning this lesson first hand. Then topping it off by explaining everything you extracted from the few words he said. Thumbs up!
Agree with the above posters recounting and description of your writing. Brain Pilots post made this thread worthy of the read.
Thanks for sharing brain pilot.

6. Don’t let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
7. When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
8. Spend some time alone every day.
9. Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.
10. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer. (Works well getting rid of women)
