When I got the fist view of the redesigned Profile page, I knew that’s where it was going.
There are some long demanded features in the works that many of us will surely like, such as private messages for example.
I think all of this is great and I thank KM and Co. for their hard work in giving us this platform.However, I am also afraid that the same perils of other ‘social networks’ might apply to mgtow.com too.
1. With all the additional new content and types of content available, many will not find time to do more thank skim through most of the stuff.(but this will happen eventually anyway as the number of members increases)
2. Many might choose to “Follow” a few voices and ignore everything else, thus missing out on possibly high quality information/opinions.(but this happens anyway as some only look at certain members’ posts, I guess)
3. It will be harder to alert the Gynocentric Bulls~~~ Genie and trolls will probably fill their timelines, messages and the like with all kinds of crap.
4. With all the new exposure, some members will just become attention whores, or attention whores will pose as legit members while doing the same “social media” crap that they do.
5. With all the new content and features, maintenance and cost for the site will increase a lot. This will probably prompt money making strategies, which coupled with increasing number of members will create profits or the possibility of profits. Pressures will eventually be created to sell the site, after which it will probably go the way of all the others (marketing scheme).Again, these are just possible dangers which I hope will be avoided.

Anything that becomes mainstream essentially becomes corrupted and diluted. It really is just natural.
I’m enjoying this while it’s still underground and somewhat pure. Who knows what it will become as more people join. The paradox is that it’s best if more people subscribe to the philosophy and join, but when that happens, the community actually gets worse.

I suspect the noise levels might be higher with guys using mgtow as a ego defense mechanism while secretly yearning female attention and sex. The one BJ away from blue pill servitude types.
As long as the majority of men sign up based on first hand experience and up close examination of female nature, the true intentions and purity of mgtow spirits will live on.
It’s a seed that doesn’t demand any watering to grow.
Also it has been relatively easy to punt c~~~s who come here posing as men who are women haters.

I don’t believe that our moderators are that shallow. Don’t get me wrong, a man should be able to profit from his labor, but I don’t think it will go that far.

However, I am also afraid that the same perils of other ‘social networks’ might apply to mgtow.com too.
The new features that exist have been requested by our members – including private messaging. A few logistics remain before we can allow members to initiate live conversations such as the ability to allow members to NOT be contacted (or messaged) if they don’t want to be. As soon as that is final, we will “turn on” the feature. It’s also a great way to not have to email someone. just go to their profile and send them a message.
One very important demand / wish from our members was image uploads so they could attach an image to a forum post (for example). Now you can post an image on your “wall”….. (it goes into your member# folder)……. and you can right-click to get the URL and paste it into your forum post! How awesome is that. This way, someone can localize an image without relying on outside dependencies. When it exists here, it’s not going anywhere. There is no chance of it being “removed” or magically disappearing – unless you uploaded a photo of someone naked with a goat. That will get their ass deleted.
More support for video and self-archiving is already built in and we are finalizing that into version 2.1.
Also, until yesterday, a site visitor (non-member) could read your forum posts. Now anyone who isn’t logged in and clicks your avatar is sent to the homepage instead of your profile.
I’m not sure about “following” or if that’s necessary but it’s built in if we want to be. Many members have asked to be able to read / follow other members writings and contributions and this encourages and inspires the creation of valuable content. Following isn’t nesscessary when you can just pull up the most recent forum posts.
We have a few things to do (fixing display issues) before this new incarnation is ready and then some fine tuning ahead. The “last 10” forum posts (available with a green button on your profile as soon as you log in) currently looks like s~~~. We have to fix things like that.

As an aside…… so you know what I mean…..
We got rid of the “last 10” forum topics and replies (temporarily) because it was slowing down the forums. Logged in members see everything – live – as it is created. But every time you load a forums page it makes TWO MORE requests for the last 10 forum topics – AND replies. This is pretty heavy when browsing the forums posts on a page-by-page basis. EVERY time you loaded a forums page, it requested “the last 10” even if you didnt want to see them. So we have worked out that we will make it static and updated every 5 or 10 minutes instead.
That kind of s~~~ is work you don’t even see. We have to take care of that.

This site will never be profitable and we will NEVER get out what we put in.
If anyone wants to avoid this, they can create a non-profit charity, and we can send them all the bills for time, resources and man hours to create an maintain it…… and that way, nobody “profits”. A perfect solution, but I doubt anyone will be interested in that. None has approached us with any such solution.
In the beginning, we were approached to sell the site for an offer(s) so embarrassing — and downright insulting — the were laughed out of the room. They had wanted to acquire in order to “represent MGTOW media” (whatever that means)…… so we asked them what kind of footprint they had established in the Manosphere, who they were and what other sites they created. There was no response. Twice.
Pressures will eventually be created to sell the site,
MGTOW.com is not for sale , but technically, “everything is for sale” and everything is temporary. In theory, you can walk up to any house and tell the family eating breakfast that they don’t live there anymore and make them check into hotel – tonight – if you offer then enough money, but nobody will offer us enough for that. It would actually be impractical. Nobody would go for it. They would have to contractually make us chairmen of the board us for 10 years with outrageously high salaries to run the s~~~. We can virtually guarantee this won’t ever happen.

I popped up on semi-retired forum member Triklops c~~~dar due to my handle in my intro. He thought I was a feminist which makes sense as the joining process was more transparent, and he thought I was mocking the Brothers.. He quickly realized that I was real by analyzing what I wrote. He was very good at c~~~ spotting f~~~ing hair trigger c~~~ punter. Trolls might slip in, but their hatred towards us makes them out themselves PDQ. My personal favorite trolls are the manginas being told by their Domina what to write. They are so obvious.
The problems are going to really begin once MGTOW gets introduced by the mainstream media. I’m already experiencing woman being amazed that I know certain things that a man should never know. This red pill s~~~ is the real deal..
Stealthy MGTOW mentioned in one of my threads that he already knows a woman who is educated on MGTOW and is very upset that men would do something so dastardly as just up and quit,
This site change is awesome as it corresponds to my first anniversary as a MGHOW though it took about 75 more days to learn that MGTOWs even existed. There are many men who are MGTOWs that do not know we exist.

There are many men who are MGTOWs that do not know we exist.
SO many. MILLIONS, probably. Even men who identify as prominent MGTOW on youtube haven’t signed up here…. and the joy in the words of men who wrote in and just discovered the site is too great. It’s vastly untapped.

I would assume with increasing signups that we’ll have increasing dismissals due to chicken-s~~~ infiltration and other crap. It’s only logical in order to keep this place as Men Going Their Own Way like it.Don't let them Blame, Shame or Tame you!

I’m always glad to spread the cheer at Gloria’s expense there Key. It’s been a few months. AncientWisdom mentioned how irritating the “I had an abortion” she really has on the shirt is. I had been getting irritated at it too a few days before he mentioned it.
She makes for such a great Avatar especially given my handle so I can’t get rid of her.. I have been thinking about blending the edges of the MGTOW logo though. Two illuminati signs, Gloria and a MGTOW logo doesn’t get any better than that.

Two sides to this.
The “welcome to the worlds first social network for men” was more male-positive spin on “facebook is for women and gays”. It just felt good to say it – for fun – because it was a long time in the making, and it’s a real alternative!
On one hand, it’s kind of a middle finger in the face of the mainstream because they can’t moderate our conversations or delete or s~~~. We should laugh loudly about that. Yes it’s a “social platform for men” but it’s one they can’t control. The MEN control the dialogue here. No vagina “report” and “abuse” buttons. No women can pretend to be “harassed online” or any of that monkey s~~~ will go on here. It’s what a man-community website should be. Where guys can be guys with no concern for “offending” anyone.
And just because features exist, we don’t have to use them. that’s the great part.!!
Facebook creates a field “update your status!! What are you doing right now!!!” and someone logs in to type “Im taking a s~~~!” or “I’m checking in to this restaurant!”. It’s so ……….. what’s the word………… “gay”.
We have no intention of creating a “f~~~book for men” because f~~~book sucks from a male point of view, the point is, MGTOW can leave facebook and google and youtube and come here eventually.

@KM That’s the way I figured it when I first opened my profile after a couple days and I’m glad to hear you say it.
On a side note, still can’t upload an avatar… though I kinda like the black suit, tie and the mgtow logo.

1. Look for the settings icon to the right under the cover photo.
2. Click edit your profile (works just like twitter)
3. it will reload the page in edit mode
4. You can see a camera icon over both pictures. Click that to upload.
5. Click to finish.

All good! Mostly the profile is there as a sort of “Member homepage”. Your profile is on it but we can bring you news and announcements and and a bunch of site wide features right there as soon as you arrive. The favorites (from the archive) will be shown there too – when you favorite a video or something. Then we will build forum posts into that.
The BIG relief is finally combining your forums profile with your front-end profile. These were separate previously and now you can see your latest forum posts /topics and replies in an endless list if you want.

All of the new features are great and I am sure they were requested by the members. I myself asked/suggested some of them in my various comments.
So please, don’t get me wrong, this was in no way a criticism, and it was not directed at the builders of the site. You guys have done an amazing job and you should be very proud of yourselves. I embrace and welcome criticism. No bulls~~~. We get our fair share of that around here, if we wanted to avoid it, we never would have created the place. So bring it on! Great topic!
People who can’t handle ( or don’t like) criticism are “not in the big leagues”. It means you’re being treated like a PEER. Too many people don’t understand that. 🙂
My points were just to underscore that there are pitfals to anything and we should strive to avoid them.
I understand all of that and those concerns have come up before, but you know, we also understand that it takes TIME to develop trust. There was alot of “who are these guys and what are they up to?” when we first arrived, but rather than alleviating suspicion with words, we just proceeded with actions. If we deliberated first and asked “is this OK with everyone?” it would never get made.
We actually approached several MGTOW even 2 years before opening the site because there was demand for something like this. Barbarossa even put out a video asking someone to do it. When we contacted several (including him) there was no response. We don’t blame them for that because they probably didn’t think we COULD.
So it became a “if you build it they will come” kind of thing. And sure enough, that’s what happened!
