In the US, weathermen get the weather reports from the national weather service…

Then they take that report back to the desk and make their own predictions based on their intuition and the NWS’ predictions.

And that’s what gets reported.

(It’s just like plagiarizing a report for school, and similarly, the modified report is inevitably worse than original. Freakonomics did an awesome expose on this subject… The found one weather guy who was far more accurate than anyone else and asked him “why?”… It turns out that he read the NWS reports straight.)

Are there any male weather presenters left? Seems even the newsreaders are female unless it’s a really important story.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a publicity stunt anyway. Why would you give her a cardigan on air?

Good question here in Toronto they try to get good looking guys to report on the weather because it seems their demographic is more females. I guess they must do studies to see who is watching and choose based on how many females vs males watch and decide that way but I could be wrong.
