I think the inflection in the fertility chart showing a rapid decline in fertility of women is due to the introduction of the birth control pill.

It also corresponds with the increase of women in the workplace, also probably due to the freedom from unwanted children brought by the birth control pill.

Many academics and feminist philosophers agree with this interpretation.
