Little bit of a rant but oh well. So as mentioned before in my hooker post I work for a utility company as a contractor doing stuff for gas meters. Well all our orders are on this computer we use in the trucks with addresses and the meters information ect. Well today im out of orders with over 1.5 hours left. Our disbatcher is this female who has never added or finished off our orders unless its the end of the day. My theory to why she doesnt do work till right before we leave is because then shed be working or the most likely she gossips around the office. It must be awfully hard to select a bunch or orders and transmit them to any of our conputer as she wont even bother to do it till around 3 when we stop working. So i will now just sit around cause all 26 of my orders are complete and normally i do 30+ a day. Reported her before but they dont care.

Don’t sweat it. Just make sure you’re supervisor knows that you are unable to complete any orders for the last 1.5 hours of the day because dispatch won’t release them. It’s his job to fix that problem, not yours.

    Ok. Then do it.

I think you will lose your job soon. You don´t even have a clue what´s going on so there is no use in explaining it to you, because it´s so basic to me I cannot understand why you don´t get it. I suggest you start looking for a new job.

If you are planning on keeping this job, you should have handed the papers, where you fulfilled your quotas already and still waiting for new work, over to them. “They will look into it” yea right…

I dont think you understand. The orders are sent to our truck computers that are connected to satalite network. Real time tracking and everything. We fill everything out on it except when we change units. Then we do like 2 pages of paperwork.

    Work is slavery.

You pay your bills, food, housing, car, gas, anything you use or enjoy you have to pay it.

But you get paid TO WORK.

Got it? Work is bad, if it wasn’t they wold not pay you for it.

To those following me, be careful, I just farted. Men those beans are killers.

So i will now just sit around cause all 26 of my orders are complete and normally i do 30+ a day.

Let me introduce you to the concept of “Work to Rule”. It’s an old union tactic which is making somewhat of a comeback these days. A few years back it was used to great effect after a hostile takeover of a regional supermarket chain in the US.

While most of the employees went on strike, a number stayed on the job not as scabs but to ensure that the chain simply wouldn’t close stores. The people who stayed on the job then did their jobs exactly as written and only as written. They showed no initiative, used no “common sense”, and followed all procedures and policies to the letter. When they ran into everyday problems that they had easily handled hundreds of times before, they reported the issues and then waited for direction from management.

For example, management wanted grocery orders sent to the warehouses so product could be distributed and shelves could be stocked overnight. According to policy however, you only ordered from the warehouse once a certain amount of product had been sold. With the supermarket chain’s customers boycotting the stores, nothing was being sold so no orders needed to be sent. One store responding to complaints that it hadn’t placed any orders by saying it had had only six customers all weekend and hadn’t sold anything.

You’re doing your job. The fact that the dispatcher isn’t doing her job isn’t your problem. Keep doing your job exactly as the company’s training, policies, and procedures require you to do. Whether you finish the scheduled work one, two, or three hours early is their problem, not your problem.

Reported her before but they dont care.

If they don’t care, why should you?

While you’re working for this group of idiots, start training, planning, and looking for your next job. Take courses, build professional contacts, work side-gigs, and burnish your resume.

I know it will pain you to work in the manner I’ve outlined. It would pain nearly all men to do so. As men we’re doers and builders. We want to get s~~~ done. Watching the clock and being idle on the job are an anathema to men. In this case, however, it’s something you’re going to have to do until you can move on.

You can’t fix the company you’re working for. I’d guess that even a business re-engineering consulting group like the one I work for could fix it. Fish rot from the head down and companies are no different. The half-assed way your employer goes about it’s business is “good enough” for upper management, so it’s going to have to be “good enough” for you.

Good enough until you leave, that is.

TL;DR – Do your job, grit your teeth, cash your paycheck, and start planning on your next job.

Do not date. Do not impregnate. Do not co-habitate. Above all, do not marry. Reclaim and never again surrender your personal sovereignty.
