NDE’s all conflict with each other mate. Some say they say jesus, some say allah, some say they just floated to a blight light. NDE’s tend to differ based on peoples backround and culture. They don’t prove your god.

I dont know what NDE stands for.
And “Allah” isnt the god of the bible. Allah is a deceiver and destroyer as he admits.

The intellect is often a tool used by individuals to rationalize personal preferences, and justify them to the world. It can also be used as a means of forcing others to comply. The intellect isn’t best suited to be able to tell a direction to head, that isn’t manifesting now, but can be used to evaluate ideas of where to head for inner consistency, and viability (using modeling). A danger with intellect is that it also gets blinded by personal biases.

A danger also of using the intellect is that, with a lack of sufficient information, it can build an interesting fantasy world, that is reasonable but wrong.

Added to the mix is hubris that comes from intellect, where individuals think they are smart and not open to being corrected. This is a danger that can happen from this.

Lastly, true identity that will work well, doesn’t come from intellect, but character. And character is habits and temperament in response to various situations, and ability to maintain and sustain a good attitude, and maintain self-control. The thing about intellect is one can rationalize that a behavior is appropriate, but if not practice, then such is just talk. You see people with addicts rationalize all the time to justify their addictions. No matter of intellect is going to fix this.

Intellect is just one of numerous tools useful to be able to do well in life. But it alone, isn’t sufficient. What you see in religious tradition is a reflection on this actually.

You may want to look up some of what Hayek had to say on tradition, in regards to its development being more than rational.

I make peace, and create evil:

I will just borrow an answer from here:http://www.gotquestions.org/Isaiah-45-7.html

Isaiah 45:7 in the King James Version reads, “I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.” How does Isaiah 45:7 agree with the view that God did not create evil? There are two key facts that need to be considered. (1) The word translated “evil” is from a Hebrew word that means “adversity, affliction, calamity, distress, misery.” Notice how the other major English Bible translations render the word: “disaster” (NIV, HCSB), “calamity” (NKJV, NAS, ESV), and “woe” (NRSV). The Hebrew word can refer to moral evil, and often does have this meaning in the Hebrew Scriptures. However, due to the diversity of possible definitions, it is unwise to assume that “I create evil” in Isaiah 45:7 refers to God bringing moral evil into existence.

    (2) The context of Isaiah 45:7 makes it clear that something other than “bringing moral evil into existence” is in mind. The context of Isaiah 45:7 is God rewarding Israel for obedience and punishing Israel for disobedience. God pours out salvation and blessings on those whom He favors. God brings judgment on those who continue to rebel against Him. “Woe to him who quarrels with his Master” (Isaiah 45:9). That is the person to whom God brings “evil” and “disaster.” So, rather than saying that God created “moral evil,” Isaiah 45:7 is presenting a common theme of Scripture – that God brings disaster on those who continue in hard-hearted rebellion against Him.

What do you except? Let people continue Baal Worship and sacrifice babys and such stuff?

Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt-offering on one of the mountains that I shall show you.’ (Genesis 22:2)

It was a test of trust in each other.
And Abraham did offer Isaac, because he trusted god and of course god didnt let him burn.

1 Samuel 6:19King James Version (KJV)

19 And he smote the men of Bethshemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the Lord, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because the Lord had smitten many of the people with a great slaughter.

I havent read Samuel and I dont know why I should. I read the books of the prophets, whose words Jesus fulfilled and Jesus didnt mention Samuel if i remember correctly.
Its known that Jesus didnt come to do away with the law or the prophets (I understand prophets as true prophets, such as jesaja, jeremia, daniel and others mentioned by jesus and maybe also some not mentioned)
So im not convinced that Samuel was a prophet…maybe, maybe not.

I trust in Jesus that he came to not do away law and the prophets
( those who really are and he mentioned a few in the NT and their prophecies fulfilled before and after Jesus walked on earth.

Im not skeptical about Prophets that Jesus named in the NT and Jesus himself, because he himself is the word of god.
And their prophecies fulfilled before, while and after Jesus walked on earth.

Revelation: “For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

Of course you are in good company i.e. Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, Imperial Japan. All that is left of agnosticism is pure force.

There is so much wrong with that single sentence that it would take several posts to explain them all.

There are opinions and then there are facts, Goodkid. You’re allowed your own opinions. You’re not allowed your own facts.

Please don’t discuss religion, agnosticism, or atheism here until you’ve further educated yourself. This isn’t YouTube, 4chan, Reddit, or some other internet fora where people can show off their s~~~ tier educations without being called on it. You’re completely wrong and, sadly, you don’t even know it yet.

Before you post something about your “feelings” being hurt, you need to remember something. We’re all men here, we all speak the truth to each other, and you’ve just been given a nice chunk of it. Take advantage of that gift.

And, before someone asks, I don’t see myself as religious, agnostic, or atheistic. However, I will not allow anyone to insult or belittle any brother here for being religious, agnostic, or atheistic. At the very least we can grant each other freedom of conscience.

I’ve seen this thread for several days and just ignored it. I knew full well most of it would be anti-religion bulls~~~. Atheism is the realm of liberals, and liberals have shown time and time again that their version of “freedom” and “respect” is to insult everyone that doesn’t think exactly like them.

But your post is good and calls it, and I am of the same mind as you, as I am on many things. Perhaps a product of our relatively greater ages, which imbue wisdom through time, or at least, that is the hope of course.

Granted there are indeed annoying proselytizers, they annoy me too. But for the most part MGTOW and the popular internet parts are mostly younger liberal people, who are generally anti-religion, and all think alike. As MGTOW I generally hope for better. MGTOW understood to at least unplug a little from the super feminist gynocentric viewpoint that permeates the internet. But it would be good to see a full unplug, and for the most part I do not see it, and I wonder if it’s not impossible.

As for the ethics and morality arguments, those are terms that are defined in philosophy and you would have to read tens of thousands of pages from at least a few dozen authors to start to have a real idea of what those terms mean and are. You COULD make your own definition, but that is a womanly thing to do, and doesn’t really get us anywhere. Previous authors don’t necessarily mean something is correct, but I think it is rather incumbent on a man to educate himself on a sector first and take advantage of those that came before, and then begin to dispute or evolve ideas rather than pretending it all originates entirely with the self in seclusion.

For my part, every analysis of ethics and morality I’ve ever made always eventually falls apart without the idea of an omnipotent being meting out fairness in an afterlife. In my life experience, I have yet to meet one person that will uphold objectively rules that he claims to apply to others when it begins to go against his own self interests. I also see it with SCOTUS judges, and they even have a term, which they call “puke test” where they begin to throw away all of their reasoning because they don’t like the result. I think that is a human trait, one that nobody, if he is honest, can reach beyond. Religious people simply circumvent it by delaying to the afterlife the result, and even then it is usually a struggle for most, because as I stated it is a function of humanity.

There is of course much more that can be discussed with the ideas presented in parts in this thread. But I already suspect most people don’t read my longer posts, so I will break it off here with the hopes of retaining some of an audience. :p

For the first verse it strictly claims that god created both good and evil not just using evil as a punishment method for the hebrews.

For the second verse even if it says it was a method to see how much people trust god it still gives the command of human sacifice to his own son.

For the third verse you can’t try to squeeze yourself out of this one. God killed over 50 thousand people for peaking in a ark. Even if jesus never mentioned samuel it still says it in the bible.

The translation does. (1) The word translated “evil” is from a Hebrew word that means “adversity, affliction, calamity, distress, misery.”
Sure the creator has created everything including satan.
I think life is like a school…were getting taught something.

For the second verse even if it says it was a method to see how much people trust god it still gives the command of human sacifice to his own son.

No, only to offer him as human sacrifice. Read the verse.
If he gave command of human sacrifice then he would been sacrificed.

For the third verse you can’t try to squeeze yourself out of this one. God killed over 50 thousand people for peaking in a ark. Even if jesus never mentioned samuel it still says it in the bible.

But its your own assumption that I believe in the bible as a whole and every translation of it.
Well I dont and I often research what stood in the greek or hebrew original text and find out that the translations are often trying to mislead whenever they can.
Who claims that the bible is the word of god?
Alot do, including the catholic church but I dont.
I claim that Jesus is the word of god.

Atheism is not exclusively the realm of liberals. That’s just ignorant.

I believe religious people are less moral. Sorry. Burn me. Sic Satan on me if you want. I’m not afraid at all.

Morality is the set of attitudes and behaviors that facilitate voluntary,

Religious people can generally be less moral because they hold themselves to a higher standard that they often do not maintain.
