I’m a firm believer that the president does change the culture and I’ve been reading a lot of articles showing a backlash to gynocentrism. The nfl was a main example of a predominantly male sport supporting a female cause that never made sense. Yes the steps are small but this has been the most movement I have seen in years.

It was all just about emasculation.

Pick the biggest baddest dudes, and make them run around in little pink shoes.

Have some f~~~ing c~~~ invade their locker room.

    As I say below….

On a visit to Toronto, I once dropped by “the Royal Bank of Canada” to exchange US for Canadian money. I was standing at the counter and there were a dozen pink tents in front of each teller.

“Join RBC in the fight against women’s Cancers”.

Here are a couple of links on that:

    . . . . as if women’s cancers are somehow WORSE than men’s cancers.

Screw the men, They can die. Let’s just work on curing the women. That’s the message “The Royal Bank of Canada” puts out and advertises without shame. I picked up the little tent, looked at it and shook my head and put it back down. The female teller asked me: “would you like to give a donation for the cause”?

“CERTAINLY! When The Royal Bank of Canada stops pretending female lives are somehow worth more than male lives. ”

    She got uncomfortable pretty fast.

Wives don’t even let their husbands alone on Super Bowl Sunday to watch the game in peace. Football is only for men competing with other men in a controlled environment for sport. Not feminist propaganda.

Make the cheerleaders wear pink and wave their pom-poms around more. They’re overpaid already. They can even show their breasts!! That would get more attention.

It was all just about emasculation.

This illness has stricken several members of my family so it hits close to home. Not sure how many know but it can effect men – albeit in far smaller numbers than women. Of course that fact is almost never promoted. Maybe the charitable colors should be changed to something less gender specific. Prostate cancer and many other male specific illnesses deserve parity in exposure and funding. All that said, it was painful to see my mother and grandmother die from this illness.

I have lost women I loved to cancer.

They would not have been happy to see me wearing pink.

Even this won’t get me watching NFL ball again. I’ll stick with high school football games.

I think the NFL ratings drop played a part.

I have a female friend I’ve known since age 7 just be diagnosed with breast cancer though the prognosis is good for her. I have another friend who got prostrate cancer at the same age. He won the battle. I never see collection campaigns for guys like him.

I’ve always figured the pink breast cancer donations end up going (90% +) for underage hookers and blow. I never gave to it.

I live in Toronto, let me know when you’re here next and I will buy you a beer!

And I’ve seen the exact things you’re talking about as RBC is my bank, I REALLY hate it

Breast Cancer takes over nearly everything
Meanwhile, for prostate awareness men just don’t shave their faces in November?
…Very very weird and I will not support it

I do however like your response to the teller and will start using the exact same line whenever asked in the future.

I’m not thrilled that women’s everything gets more attention than men’s everything, but in general have a hard time being annoyed with charities. That said . . . I always had the feeling that the whole pink ribbon thing was “graft-y”. Beyond that . . . why the Hades was the NFL’s charity breast cancer? That made just zero sense, and seemed like a weird and bizarre politically correct something.

Literacy seemed like a good thing for the NFL to promote, particularly given their target audience and the nonexistent education most college players get. Making the players wear pink and eat s~~~ and smile about it just seemed psychotic, and also . . . hey! p~~~ed off all the fans. What a shock. A billion here, a billion there, yeah, f~~~ the stockholders, we’re doing Lilith’s work.

I think it’s awesome how fantastically badly the NFL has handled the whole saluting-the-flag thing. Instantly depoliticizing the game probably would have been their best bet (no flag, no song, no nothin’, just start the goddamn game), but clearly a bunch of marketing geniuses instead came up with their current solution . . . which has further p~~~ed off their fan base.

Nice to see ESPN’s viewership dropping.

Do they still have female reporters on the sidelines of NFL games who clearly don’t know a damn thing about football and are reading pre-prepared questions other people wrote? That was fantastically annoying as well.

Can’t remember the last time I cared much about football. It’s been a while.

Actually the NFL is losing tons of viewership. That’s why they are changing things and why they are having teams play internationally. People are simply watching football less. For me it wasn’t just the pink (though yes that did make me facepalm pretty hard and chuckle), it was the combination of changes such as getting rid of endzone celebrations, players acting like s~~~, and fantasy football.

Yes fantasy football. Or more accurately what type of spergs like trekkies it spawned since I don’t do that s~~~, but the fact that football was getting way too niche for people who followed stats and made the rest of us who just wanted to sit back and see a team play. Suddenly conversations got way to f~~~ing technical. I mean all we wanted to do was have a beer and talk about that player who made that crazy catch on the last game or a crazy moment this season. Then some spaz comes in and talks stats and other bulls~~~. At least politics effects your life and is worth discussing more. Some of these fantasy peeps suck the fun out of a relaxing time. The f~~~ do I care about them needing to play some person because his stats are better?

Doesn’t help that my teams eat s~~~ for several years too lol.

That’s why I don’t donate to breast cancer charities period. Until men’s cancer/ailments get equal time, f~~~ em. Women’s lives are NOT more important than men’s.

I think it’s awesome how fantastically badly the NFL has handled the whole saluting-the-flag thing.

How did they handle it? I don’t watch s~~~ball (hey, the ball DOES look like a turd) – so would appreciate a quick summary.

but clearly a bunch of marketing geniuses instead came up with their current solution

Wait, you mean charging fans twelve dollars for a s~~~ty miller lite in a plastic cup takes some of the fun out of it? You don’t say…….

Chomsky calls it “exotic information.” The idea being that you keep people’s minds occupied with very detailed, complex, but completely meaningless information, so they don’t notice how badly they’re being f~~~ed by their “elected” officials. I put that in quotes because they’re really just bought at this point and it doesn’t really matter much who wins.

I was hoping Trump would be the exception, but he’s already caving in on the whole guest worker visa thing. F~~~er.

Great – now that there is an open slot for a cause, how about male suicide? Raise the awareness of risk factors, like divorce rape, legalized kidnapping of a man’s children, etc.

Now there is a cause I can get behind. And its a natural audience for it – it may even do some good.
