I’ve confronted a writer friend of mine about this… but I still can’t figure out the “logic”.

Is it to prove that men and women are the same by having a female do exactly the same things a male would do (a simple art swap plus girl power quips) or to prove that women are better than men by having them do things differently (and better) than the man in the same costume would?

Either way they’re going to make women look stupid. Why not create a new woman character and have her do her thing in a womanly way and make her feminist quips and then let the market decide if it works or not?

Yeah, I went to reading Manga years ago. Better stories. Not dripping with estrogen.
Overall sales of comics have gone up but a large percentage of that is because of manga. Specifically, women purchasing YAOI manga. T~~~s have a penchant for reading comics about male gay soft porn.

I stopped buying comics from Marvel and DC because they have rebooted their god damn canon at least a thousand times. Now with SJW bulls~~~ in comics I’m sure as hell not going to go back to reading super hero comics.
I like to read Tex Willer, a italian comic book that actually has a story you can follow and none of that one thousand multiverses nonsense or endless reboots.
Actually most of the stuff published by Sergio Bonelli is prety good and don’t have SJW nonsense.

In the case of Marvel, they don’t have to care. Disney, their parent company, makes so much that they can use their comics as a loss leader and push any message they want. It is the same for DC Comics, which is owned by TimeWarner.

Their comic book divisions are such a tiny fraction of these giant conglomerates’ sales that the tax write off is probably worth more than a profit.

This is why I avoid paying for western media. Or most of it anyway. Especially if it’s related to comics. Anime/manga has much better story lines. And even in white knight-ish media such as One Piece, there are so many men that you can relate to. And One Piece is a f~~~ing kids show for Japanese boys!

When I was younger I was a HUGE fan of Chuck Dixon and Mike Weiringo on Robin and was a fan of Detective Comics. I obviously am not anymore after dildo got rid of Chuck Dixon who was Batman comics’ brain trust. But I recall a lot of this bulls~~~ back in the days of GamerGate. I was and still am blown away that it has gotten this bad.

Comics tried to be somewhat above politics when they did bother to do some commentary in it. Not unlike Watchmen and TDKR. I mean you could see the leanings but it was a footnote and background noise.

Now the characters and property themselves are getting dragged through the mud and s~~~.

One Piece is pretty terrible, but otherwise I agree.

Western media is awful. One of the problems though is men keep patronizing this stuff, so there are never any repercussions to it. All you can do is grow the audience, since you might get new women buying your stuff, but all the men still buy it. Some bitch about it, but most still stick with it.

I personally don’t understand why so many men still spend so much time with Western media. At this point, there is so much incredible material to consume that an entire lifetime wouldn’t be enough. So many great cultures have already existed and contributed so much. Not even just anime/manga, but I mean fiction, art and other great works already exist to the point that nobody needs to consume anything new if they didn’t want to, and would still never run out of material that is new to them.

Personally I’ve been spending more time reading recently. Video is great and all, but is rather unnecessary especially if you’ve already seen a lot of it. There are many works that are far better in literary form anyway.
