A Major reason these monuments need to stay up is to serve as a reminder to the Federal Government and its citizens that you can only impose your will on Americans to a point, at which time they WILL pick up arms and violently fight back.

I think this is precisely why they are being targeted. The South was supposed to be a “disorganized mob” that the Union would easily whip in one simple skirmish.

Four years later and 620,000 Men dead, (roughly 2% of the entire population at the time) we see what forcing political ideologies on an unwilling group of Free Men will do.

Even though they lost, their firm stance against Government Oppression and the fact that they nearly won should serve as a dire reminder to all seeking power that Americans DO have a line in the sand. Once crossed, All Hell Will Break Loose.

Torn on this issue. One, I think we need to preserve history. Perhaps, move the monuments into a museum or something. Two, there is no place for neo-nazism nor hatred. In one hundred years, when due to socio economic, climate, or war and disease induced changes, when ravaged countries re-emerge, along with technological advancements where people now eat laboratory created food, including synthetic laboratory grown meat from DNA cells of now extinct animals like cow and chicken, and the current ethics have changed to reflect these changes. Will they be pulling down the statues of our current heroes because they ate meat? Or they lived in gluttony while third world women and children starved? If they are marching with hoods and Nazi paraphernalia, then they are honoring Nazism and it’s teachings. I am all for preserving our history as a country. However, there is ZERO tolerance for hatred and crooked crosses anywhere. If they were trying to preserve the south and our history, they are either too stupid to realize that wearing KKK and Nazi paraphernalia would cause a problem. Or, two, wanting to insight a riot. I believe it’s a mix of both. A, because they are stupid and B, they caused a riot.

The swastika is such an evil symbol. I cannot fathom how any person could honor it. Granted, at one time it was a peaceful symbol, a mad man changed it.

Whether a person is white, black, brown, yellow, orange; if they are a decent human being, they would denounce anyone for using a swastika. There is no right way to swing this.

To compare the Confederacy to Nazi Germany is nonsense, for reasons which other have pointed out.

I would like to take a moment to discuss the way Germany deals with the ugliness in their heritage. It is not by sweeping it under the rug, on the contrary in fact, they are taught in school about the atrocities which took place. There are public memorials on street corners commemorating the victims of the Nazis.

Why are the Confederacy and Nazis being compared yet they are treating the history two different ways. Rather than tearing down history, there should be efforts to put more of it up. If the confederate symbols are painful, why don’t they create some memorials of their own which address that pain.

Germany is not perfect in their attitude toward their past transgressions in that they can be manipulated by being called Nazis very easily, however I think the way they preserve their history no matter how distasteful it is makes more sense than sweeping it under the rug.

So, if somebody is conflating the Confederacy with Nazi’s make sure to point out that Germany does not hide their shame.

Many men on both sides died during the War Between the States; they ALL deserve to be honored for their sacrifices. What is the point in pretending that this didn’t happen? I have ancestors who wore grey uniforms and others who wore blue. Any attempt to rewrite history is an insult to *both* sides.

The big question is: WHY are politicians (for the most part) caving in so quickly to these SJW turds? Yes, I know that some of them are concerned about reelection — but there must be more to the phenomenon than that. Let the snowflakes have their little demonstrations and skirmishes, let them rant and call names, and then arrest the ones who commit actual crimes (such as damaging or defacing government property) and restore order.
