    I actually ride in one of those monster (Well I used too). pretty great. It is fascinating all this technology put in one magnificent machine. Very comfy too.

    Save yourselves … I can land a Cessna 182 on the A12 and get you guys extracted….. bird dog style.

    Your offer is appreciated, but I think you’re going to need something a tad larger, like:

    MGTOW Rescue Plane

    That way when we are making our escape and the women try to chase us down, we have options:

    Flares.

    Hahaha Lurch … if you knew the state of the A12 road … that ship would sink through to Oz.

    Hey C-Pig, I take the Taconic pkwy to 209 Delaware watergap, It’s mostly country and wooded driving far away from the major cities, I go that way since the George Washington Bridge Expressway, came to a dead stop all RED, I smoked my brakes to a full stop within 2 feet of hitting the car in the deepest hole I could find, immediately I cut over wedging my way into the next lane and not taking no for an answer! I could feel the angle of death breathing on my back! The guy I was behind before frantically changed lanes was hit full speed from behind, glass and plastic parts were flying everywhere! The car that hit him was stuffed back to the windshield!
    Another time I approached the toll booths sliding sideways on fresh oil, a polished road surface, and light rain, while I was sliding I was thinking how the f~~~ am I gonna get home from here after I crash the car, by a miracle I was able to straighten out and slide past the toll attendant then back up. F~~~ I-95, Grim Reaper Highway!

    So you have been in my neck of the woods ILA. I know those exits well too.

    One thing I have recently noticed, is that idiots now enable the hazard lights on their cars in heavy weather. It’s disorienting as hell. I always look out for brake lights far ahead of me and randomly flashing hazard lights create a safety hazard for me. My trucker friend tells me they hate it too. It was mostly a bunch of snow birds heading North. Luckily, I only had to run a 20 mile stretch of I-95 more scared of the snow birds more than the rain. I think it must be a recent phenomena. I could see it causing seizures as it was actually making me feel nauseous.

    I drove I-95 up in New Jersey once where the rain was so thick I was literally driving by GPS. No one was using hazard lights then.

    I was last there around 8 years ago. Sounds like things have declined somewhat on the 95.

    I could never get used to the flat slab thump thump thump as the wheels went over those expansion joints.

    Also no camber so when it rains it becomes a river and those bloody off ramps in the wet …. NIGHTMARE.

    Stayed at a house in DeLeon Springs … Spring Garden Ranch Road I think.

    Fantastic breakfast at that ranch …. or if all else fails the IHop ?

    Best times were planning skydive trips with Bike Week and then surfing.

    Great times.

    I know all about “broken arrows” <<<look at my avatar.
    Hey C-pig, 1-95 is what we in the north call cocaine highway, and above it cocaine airway. Those heavy laden Cessna 182’s can’t get over 5,000 ft. AGL until they hit the cooler air up north, then it’s 7,000 ft. They’re the only planes going slow at full throttle.
    There was a guy my uncle knew that owned an import sports car dealership, he got caught hauling the white devil dust from some island in the Caribbean (Pablo Escobar) small world.

    The career paths I’m glad I declined, #1: Cocaine dealer. (lead poisoning)

    #2: Mafia (stolen car ring and eventual lead poisoning).

    #3: Women (goes without say)

    Several times in my lower hours flying career, I was offered ‘jobs’ like fly to an airfield in Holland … pick up some ‘package’ and fly back over the chanel and drop package to a boat.

    Payment?

    Cessna 172 I’d be flying … aka bullet in the head or some other form of accident.

    Luckily I was never that hard up.

    CPig .. just go take a couple of lessons. Staying private pilot with just vfr rating is a good way to just keep the thrill going.

    It really is a s~~~ road.

    My antics on that road landed me a conviction, 18 month driving ban, hefty fine and a months supply of sleeping pills.

    Can’t blame the road for what I did. still a dangerous road though.

    I use to be INCREDIBLY dumb.

    F~~~ I-95, Grim Reaper Highway!

    @Tower:The same thing down here too. We regularly have hideous high speed fatalities on it.

    You should have been with me when this old codger stopped dead in the left hand lane of I-16 as a semi was properly merging onto the Interstate. Luckily, I know how to modulate non-ABS brakes. There’s nothing like watching traffic running 80 MPH in your rear view mirror coming at you praying they see you’re stopped. I finally felt safer after about 15 vehicles were stopped behind me. I let that old man have it when I passed him on the right after the semi got on the road.

    @ILA: I know that thump. Each State is partially responsible for maintaining the Interstates. Georgia does a better job than either Florida or South Carolina. You can literally feel and see the differences whenever you cross the borders on any road. I’ve driven extensively in these States over the years. I-95 has gotten WAY worse the past 8 years. The Angel of Death haunts it the entire length. The US being so much larger than European countries probably has to cheap out on certain things.

    The flight instructors are starting to know me from flying with them and are starting to teach me some basic things while in flight. I don’t think I could ever get the stones to pilot IFR though. That’s for you pros. I will say that having flown with experienced professional pilots and seeing them in action makes me feel way safer. It’s not something a passenger in seat 47B gets to see during a commercial flight. One has promised to let me get a hand on the controls the next time he and I fly.

    I’ve always liked things that are systematic with zero tolerance for failure. My sea kayaking checklist has 40 points on it for my long distance miles from nowhere journeys. The sea is very much like the atmosphere. They are both unpredictable to a certain extent dynamic fluids. I probably check the weather as anally as you aviation pros do too.

    He C-Pig, IFR is not that difficult, I did it on the simulator for countless hours 747-400, It’s all a matter of using VOR OBS, and the glide scope indicator, setting the throttle to stay within the envelope, I used to program cross country flights in the air data then set auto pilot and leave for a few hours and come back and figure out where it was, also has weather settings. I compare it to flying a huge truck, not so nimble. It’s all about situational awareness and keeping all the needles and pins aligned in the right direction, you don’t even have to look out the window, fly by gauges. It’s not as safe as it sounds, a crew went down in the everglades tapping on a false instrument warning light while the altimeter keep rolling down the numbers, they assumed they were on autopilot but actually weren’t.
    You only get once chance to f~~~up, then it’s over, too much headwind, not enough fuel because you f~~~ed up the math, it’s over. It’s not like they have sky stations and breakdown lanes…..
