State Of the union in its entirety:
I’m only about 30 minutes in to the actual speech, but my initial takeaways are:
Buzz Aldrin didn’t have to salute the president, was under no obligation whatsoever to do so, and yet he did.
Same goes for the WW2 vets although they chose to give him the thumbs up instead.
Occasional-Cortex and cohorts looked like complete t~~~waffles in their white shirts and bitter scowls because orange man bad.
Full disclosure: I never liked President Trump before I voted for him, but goddam if he didn’t bring a tear to my eye and a lump in my throat tonight. Nobody has ever tried to look out for us like this guy is trying to right now.
"Data, I would be delighted to offer any advice I can on understanding women. When I have some, I'll let you know." --Captain Picard,
Ok, I just saw the part where the women stood up for all the new jobs created for women; So they’re not total t~~~waffles, just mostly kinda sorta.

Nobody has ever tried to look out for us like this guy is trying to right now.I hate goddam socialists who want to keep everyone down except their special elite rling inner party oligarchies. They claim to care more, they care f~~~ing less as they take away any means for people to better themselves, which is totaly opposed to the human spirit. I hope they all f~~~ing die horribly. Trump is the only guy who really fights them.
Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.
It wouldn’t have mattered if the President announced the second coming of the Lord; the Democrat socialists (and, to be clear: it’s the “Democrat party”, NOT “Democratic party”, because there is absolutely nothing Democratic about them) would still have sat on their hands looking like petulant children anyway. Guess Pelosi was wearing white as a symbol of her purity. In that case, Schumer should have put on a white dress too in solidarity. You would never know anything about the State of the Union Address by reading the far-left media’s twisted commentary about it.
We just don't realize life's most significant events while they're happening. Back then, I thought, "Well, there'll be other days". I didn't realize that that was the only day. - "Moonlight" Graham
Occasional Kotex is like a high school girl; She goes along with whatever is popular and whatever will get her the most “likes”. I wonder when she is planning to lead by example and give back 70 percent of her earnings while she is in Congress. She is so against the current system in place and yet she’s not going to give 70 percent of her earnings to families who are in poverty and in need?
Feminism isn't about equality with men, it's about leverage over men.
I thought that democrat/liberal women took a huge step back last night. They made several mistakes and came across looking like immature naive children.
First they made a mistake of wearing white, contrasting themselves from everyone else. In a speech that was geared towards unity, it showed that they wanted to set themselves apart from everyone else and draw attention. It looked like they didn’t even know what they were supposed to be about, waiting for Polosi to tell them how to behave, with her even caught on tape sending them hand signs at least one time.
Trump did a brilliant job of trapping them in a box Two highlight were we contrasted freedom and liberty against socialism. They had to chose to either support these long American principles or support socialism. Sitting down was not the right choice. The other point was when Trump discussed late term abortions/infanticide, and the ‘ladies’ again decided to sit down, making them look like little brats who couldn’t see beyond themselves.
I also thought it was telling when Trump gave the stats regrading the accomplishments of women this past year. They decided to stand up for this, clearly the right move, but instead of being well behaved, they decided to act as if it was they themselves who had reached the achievement. As if they believe that their whining and nagging had been the reason for success, not changes in the tax code, deregulation, and everything else that’s been a positive effect on the economy. In fact it seemed to undermined the efforts of everyday women who actual got a job and improved their own lives. And Trump handled it perfectly. He let them put on their display for the cameras to see.
It wasn’t a prefect speech, and SOTU addresses tend to only have short term effects. Trump would be wise to push hard for a wall while the iron is hot, and the media will regain control of the narrative rather quickly.
Ok. Then do it.
It made me sick to watch it. My eyes kept getting drawn to that old bitch behind him due to her s~~~ty expressions while he was speaking. When the President said, “The state of the union is great.”, or something like that, she actually shook her head no.
Some of those people actually booed him a couple times. This country used to have respect and reverence for the President. Now there are so many spoiled c~~~s………it’s just sad.
At one point that Pelosi c~~~ “clapped AT the President”, not FOR him, as if to say, “That’s what YOU should do”, when he said, “But we must reject the politics of revenge, resistance, and retribution – and embrace the boundless potential of cooperation, compromise, and the common good”. I think that one burned me the most.
The evil in women’s hearts leaves them no moral bounds as to inhibit them from descending to the lowest levels of darkness to acquire their self entitled desires.
President Trump’s speech was good, not great, but good. He played to his strengths. I give his speech an 8 on details, but a 6 on enthusiasm, to average a 7.
The good news is even the corporate media admits President Trump’s SOTU speech was well received, with around three quarters of those surveyed finding the speech to be positive.
Meanwhile, the DNC rebuttal was a trainwreck in so many ways. The DNC woman whom lost an election and refuses to concede the race she ran was given the roll of speaker for the rebuttal. I guess Hillary declined giving the speech, so they picked her. The woman falsely claims that voter suppression was the cause of her defeat, when in truth it was the fact that GA laws prevent voter suppression through ballot stuffing that lead to her defeat.
The optics on the DNC rebuttal are horrible, in some ways worse that last years DNC rebuttal of the SOTU speech. While President Trump used his speech to look towards future successes, the DNC used their rebuttal to remember past defeats. This rebuttal by the DNC is an omission that DNC has no political platform, just political attacks, insults, and false accusations.
The DNC could have used their rebuttal to give air time to one of the democrats running for president, and use President Trump’s positive speech as a spring board for their own positive speech. Doing so would have blunted President Trump’s speech. But, as it stands now the optics for last night was President Trump being like a shining kind on top of the mountain giving a speech about success of the people, while the democrats are in the deep valley, look up, while the democrats claim about sour grapes.
Kind of an aside, but the democrats seems utterly idiotic with their politics these days. They correctly determine that Trump has some personal and personality issues as a weakness. Attacking that does win points in their favor. However, they continue to distance themselves by the success we’ve had the past two years, trying to pretend it’s not there. If they would just get on board with commonsense legislation and presidential actions, then they can negate the President’s accomplishments as a reason to vote for him in 2020. If the only significant difference between Trump and a democrat challenger is personality, then Trump losses.
Politicians, both the democrats and republicans, continually fail to realize that people support Trump not because they like him, but because he actually tries to represent them. Politicians still believe that they can say the right words without accomplishing anything any people will still vote them in.
Ok. Then do it.
On a side note, during President Trump’s speech, the only female democrat politician whom showed any signs of intelligence last night was Congressional member Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. From what the cameras shows, a few times she almost stood up by herself and during these times she looked at her other democrat seniors whom would not let her. She clearly knew President Trump had trapped them and she was trying to figure a way out, but she was stuck being henpecked by the other democrat women to follow the flock.
By the way, it is considered a major western cultural taboo for women to wear white during the winter.
They correctly determine that Trump has some personal and personality issues as a weakness.
Where you see weakness, many see strength of President Trump standing up to the fascist corporate media whom attack the American people at every turn.
The issue is most elitists and their servants want to micro-manage the emotions of the people and use the rules to control people. The elitists declare any outspoken people to be the enemies of society.
President Trump is from Queens, they are natural fighters. And the American working class love firebrands such as President Trump.
That is the divide. President Trump will not kiss the ring of the media and play by their rigged rules and his supporters love him for bucking the corrupt system.
President Trump is willing get his hands dirty in political fighting, where elitists like to use their minions to do so. The American working class respect President Trump for doing so.
So, as you can see, personality is his greatest asset. His personality is his brand, which he spend forty years building.
If the only significant difference between Trump and a democrat challenger is personality, then Trump losses.
Personality won President Trump in 2016 and personality and success will likely see him through to 2020 victory.
I found the rebuttal to be pretty much irrelevant. I have no idea why Americans wanted to know her personal story. The issues/concerns she brought up seemed much smaller, not current, and generally unimportant compared to the Presidents speech. Voter suppression seems like a horrible topic to bring up, being that the democrats did have victories in the past election, and Trump praised women for their accomplishments, and there is no upcoming election. The claim that Trump was the cause of the shutdown was very hollow, since Trump already outlined how the shutdown was not about what’s best for Americans, but political vengeance. Her attempt to lie about the state of the economy was shutdown quickly by the media.
And why did they put random people as the backdrop for her speech? What was point? if the point was try and make it look like the democrats represented the ‘everyman’, then it failed horribly…since she didn’t even acknowledge their existence. It actually reminded me that the democrats have a habit of paying people to show up at protests.
Ok. Then do it.
Where you see weakness, many see strength of President Trump standing up to the fascist corporate media whom attack the American people at every turn.
I see that more as policy and action of the president, and not at all what I was calling a weakness. His weaknesses are his reactionary tweets that cause unnecessary drama, not all tweets in general, but ones that are clearly not well thought out. For claiming that we’d be at war with N. Korea if wasn’t elected president. And his history with women. These are not things that people like about the president, it’s things they put up with because the results are more important to them. The democrats strategy is to attack the baggage AND the results. I think they would be much better off if they sold the idea that they can get the same results without the baggage.
That is the divide. President Trump will not kiss the ring of the media and play by their rigged rules and his supporters love him for bucking the corrupt system.
Yes, it definitely is. But it’s only a strength as long as the media, and by proxy the democrats, continue to provide a stark contrast for him to fight against. If the media started reporting things straight, and I think this could happen if the politicians echo-ed the truth for a while, then the Trump can no longer rally against the media. He will not be a viewed as a fighter if he has nothing to fight against.
So, as you can see, personality is his greatest asset. His personality is his brand, which he spend forty years building.
Not all of his personality is an asset, and even then, I don’t think his personality is worth much if it doesn’t come with results, results that only he can take credit for. Just imagine if a wall had already been under construction and the democrats were in full support (as they have claimed in the past). It would not be something the President could really claim as a big success or something that separates him from a democratic contender.
Putting it a different way, democrats failed to see why Trump was elected in the first place. Instead of recognize that and trying to reshape their policy to give people what they want, they doubled down on politics as usual. Instead of drifting to middle and taking away the differences, they went a sharp left and gave many people no choice but to support Trump, even if they think he’s an asshole.
Ok. Then do it.
On a side note, during President Trump’s speech, the only female democrat politician whom showed any signs of intelligence last night was Congressional member Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. By the way, it is considered a major western cultural taboo for women to wear white during the winter.I haven’t heard yet why they wore white. I can’t agree that she looked intelligent, but I suppose it could depend on which channel you were watching. I 100% agree that the President set a lot of traps for the democrats, making them chose between supporting him and common sense, or opposing him and looking rather petty and.or evil. Again, I think the democrats are making a huge mistake in opposing Trump on absolutely everything. They are handing him ammunition. He forced them to answer questions about what they truly believe about America, and what their agenda is by the response to his statements. They had to be on their toes the whole speech, and they looked rather uncomfortable, as they much prefer to have prepared speeches from reporters who won’t ask them tough questions.
I didn’t think the optics on her were very good. While everyone else is wearing suits like they are going to office, she looks like she’s going to the ball.
Ok. Then do it.
Demoncrats wearing white to protest imaginary threats to “wimmin’s rights”? Meanwhile… men in coveralls, military uniforms, labcoats, firefighting gear, diving suits, etc. go to work in dirty, uncomfortable, and dangerous conditions to keep society running.
Of course, if Democrats aren’t creating strife and controversy, they aren’t happy.
Demoncrats wearing white to protest imaginary threats to “wimmin’s rights”?
White is typically thought of to represent purity, but I that can’t be what they were going for.
Ok. Then do it.
I found the rebuttal to be pretty much irrelevant.
Exactly.
Voter suppression seems like a horrible topic to bring up, being that the democrats did have victories in the past election, and Trump praised women for their accomplishments, and there is no upcoming election.
I agree.
And on the matter of President Trump praising women. By doing so, he caused the democrats to actually stand up and cheer his comments. Right beforehand, President Trump verbally commented they would want to stand for what he was about to say.
By doing so, President Trump broke the solidarity in silence the democrats were trying to portray.
And why did they put random people as the backdrop for her speech? What was point? if the point was try and make it look like the democrats represented the ‘everyman’, then it failed horribly…since she didn’t even acknowledge their existence. It actually reminded me that the democrats have a habit of paying people to show up at protests.
The DNC believe that the “everyman” is everyone who is NOT a white man.
His weaknesses are his reactionary tweets that cause unnecessary drama, not all tweets in general, but ones that are clearly not well thought out.
Actually, part of the reason his has so much support is from his willingness to political hit back towards the media whom constantly lie and insult him and his supporters.
For claiming that we’d be at war with N. Korea if wasn’t elected president.
The U.S. might have been in a war with North Korea by now. But, due to President Trump’s carrot and stick approach, the U.S. now has a dialogue with the North Korea government, with tensions easing greatly between North Korea and South Korea.
Given the situation, this is the best outcome from the moment.
You are correct. But, considering those whom own the media are running the media at a loss to politically attack President Trump and his supporters, I do not see that happening.
Not all of his personality is an asset, and even then, I don’t think his personality is worth much if it doesn’t come with results, results that only he can take credit for.
When is comes to President Trump, you get what you see. He does not pretend to be something he is not, and in that way his personality as a whole is an asset to him.
The American working class respects sincerity, even if that sincerity is a bit rude.
I haven’t heard yet why they wore white.
The democrat women claimed to have dressed in white to honor the “sufferjet movement” and to support abortion. But, people are already making memes comparing the women with the KKK.
The optics last night were horrible for the democrats.
I believe we agree more than we disagree on this matter.
White is typically thought of to represent purity, but I that can’t be what they were going for.
It was supposed to be a nod to the suffragette movement…
“suffragettes’ colour scheme of purple for loyalty and dignity, white for purity, and green for hope.”
Ironically the white represents purity, but the thing these women most care about is abortion.
I also thought it was telling when Trump gave the stats regrading the accomplishments of women this past year. They decided to stand up for this, clearly the right move, but instead of being well behaved, they decided to act as if it was they themselves who had reached the achievement.
Yup. I noticed this as well. This was one of the few times they stood up, and what did they do? “Raised the roof” and acted like a bunch of kids. The funny part was they had originally stood up when Trump mentioned how women filled 57% or whatever of NEWLY CREATED JOBS. Their jobs aren’t even newly created, they aren’t part of that statistic lol.
They just seemed angry the rest of his speech. Apparently they don’t support or care about anything but “women’s rights.” Considering we have a split congress right now these women made it obvious to me they have no interest at all in even pretending they would attempt to work with the other side. Oh well…at least we’ll get to watch the melt down sometime in the next two years when Trump gets to replace RBG on the supreme court. I’m pretty sure she’s already dead, the left is just playing Weekend at Bernies with her to delay the inevitable.
I found the rebuttal to be pretty much irrelevant.
I watched about 3 minutes of it and heard not a single idea or plan from the democrats, it was just fluff and attacking the other side, so I shut it off.
They just seemed angry the rest of his speech. Apparently they don’t support or care about anything but “women’s rights.” Considering we have a split congress right now these women made it obvious to me they have no interest at all in even pretending they would attempt to work with the other side.
Nothing new. I can barely stand to watch the SOTU anymore. Every line in the speech is something that the President’s side is supposed to stand and clap for, and then watch for the reaction on the other side. What will they stand and clap for? It’s f~~~ing juvenile and stupid and both sides do it. The speech is meant to poke at the other side as much as anything, so no s~~~ it doesn’t unify anyone. And then afterwards you get the talking heads saying s~~~ like “I can’t believe he didn’t even MENTION global warming!” Well, duh, he doesn’t think it’s a huge issue. It’s one thing to say you think it’s a mistake to not mention it, but to pretend to be morally outraged about it just shows the stupidity of the talking head.
It’s just the annual display of what petty, small, worthless people we have running our country and on our “news” channels. It’s America at it’s worst.
Order the good wine
I believe we agree more than we disagree on this matter.
Yes. I’m not succeeding at getting my point across, and it’s an academic point anyway. I think the democrats would be doing much better if they had someone like Bill Clinton (before his women issues were exposed), a middle of the road guy, then going far left. But that isn’t what they are doing, so it doesn’t matter.
Ok. Then do it.
