I personally am if only because I’m holding out hope it wont be a female ’empowerment’ movie or some other crap like that I’d rather a repeat of the prequel trilogy than a trilogy that is about girl power. To be perfectly honest I am hoping the girl gets killed off in the first half of the movie in some surprise twist.

When I sit down to watch Star Wars, my viewing always consists of four films. The Trilogy of IV, V, and VI along with Phantom Menace. It’s totally a personal thing but I just can’t break free from this habit and don’t believe I ever will .. and it’s the same with Doctor Who. My viewing of The Doctor ended at the episode Survival with Sylvester McCoy. I have bought every “original” Who episode that was ever released from the first with William Hartnel to the last with McCoy, but I have collected none of the new.
With Star Trek, I enjoy them all from TOS through Enterprise; but here again the strange thing is that I’ve never watched the movies. They are sitting on the shelf across the room from me still shrink-wrapped, yet i have no desire to see them at this time. I like the series as they were offered for television and feel that I might somehow taint my appreciation by viewing the movies. I accept that this might be paranoid; but for now all of the Trek movies will sit neatly on the shelf unviewed.
The one exception to this in a big way is Babylon 5. I watch “all” of the five B5 movies along with Crusade, Legend ofThe Rangers, and Lost Tales – Voices interspersed and in a definite viewing order along with the five seasons of the television episodes. For some reason, as far as B5 is concerned, most of the movies seem to complement the series .. in the way that I believe JMS meant for it to be.

Meh, for me star wars was long ago about making money. George Lucas is a f~~~er and greedy as hell. Now that the owner ship has changed hands, it’ll still be the same. IDGAF

I will wait to see what people say about the film. I have not seen a movie in a theater in over a decade. Ironically, the last movie I saw in a theater was in Episode 03, Revenge of the Sith, in 2005. It would be poetic if I went to see Episode 07 for this reason alone.

Wow. The last movie I saw in the theatre was Mad Maxi-Pad. The popcorn was good though.

Was I the only one who saw the previews and realized that Mad Max Fury Road was really Manic Monday PMS Rag?

I will give credit to this new Star Wars movie. From what I have seen of the dialogue between Han and Finn, those to playing off each other looks to be comedic gold.

From one of the scenes, Han and Finn are about to go into battle.

Han asks Finn, “Are you ready?”

    Finn flatly replies, “Hell no.”

Hardly. There was a discussion about it here, but when I saw it, they really HAMMERED it into your head that the men dying in totally gruesome ways was “HA!!! GOTCHA!! AWESOME!!!”…… and when a girl died it was “the most horrible thing ever” and everyone just stopped and we got extreme closeups of slow-mo reactions.

The pregnant one holding his baby hostage made me look at the ceiling and just smh.

It was a 2-hour screensaver of “eggs are expensive…. sperm is cheap”.

Oooo.. I know it’s not related to Star Wars but since you brought ‘female empowerment’ in films, I felt it my duty to remind you of this timeless classic from 2011 lest we should forget.

lol.. wait, I have no idea how to link youtube vids.. 😛

[edit (4)] lol.. cheers for the +1, I’m totally perplexed. If anyone can repost it correctly or let me know the proper syntax, I’d be very grateful, thanks guys! 😀

It was a 2-hour screensaver of “eggs are expensive…. sperm is cheap”.

It is an interesting fact considering women have a more stable chromosome base pairs due to being XX instead of XY women are carriers of more genetic disorders than men.

For example, one could argue that Queen Victoria (whom was a genetic carrier of hemophilia) obsession with marrying her daughters (whom also were genetic carriers of hemophilia) off to the rest of the European and Russian aristocracies lead to the collapse of said aristocracies.

If Czar Nicholas II was not so obsessed with helping his sick hemophiliac son, Alexei (Queen Victoria’s great-grandson, from his mother’s side of the family, Alexandra Feodorovna, Queen Victoria’s granddaughter), the Russian empire would not have collapsed and the soviet communists would not have taken over Russia.

Society is obsessed with genetic quality from men, when society should be more concerned with genetic quality from women.

But, this is a conversation for another time.

All the red flags are in place that will dictate this will be a grrlll power diversity s~~~ show. What we’ve seen in the trailers, what we’ve heard from J.J. and Kathleen Kennedy and the comments on YouTube.

I’m going at Midnight with my cousins. As promised, I’ll write a short review as soon as I can sit down at a computer.

I have high hopes for Finn.

Same here. Actually, I hope the movie is better than we expect.

At least, those whom made the movie are being open and direct that Rey is the main character. We have a general idea of what we are going to watch, instead of a bait and switch.

I’m going to bring Star Wars to me. As soon as the DVD arrives at RedBox, I will rent it.

It will require a bit of patience on my part, but I can tough it out.

I LOVE B5!!!! Most of the movies were okay but I couldn’t get into ‘The Legend of the Rangers’. Which reminds me, on that note, I invite everyone to watch the most laughable girlie pwrrrr raaageee scene ever!! hahaha

Lets be honest here guys. When is the last time you ever saw a movie or TV show where the men were not portrayed in some way as bumbling “trad-cons” and the woman just “knew better”. The only movie I can think of that wasn’t a total estrogen fest was the recent “Godzilla”.

I think that ship left the harbor sometime in the mid 80’s. Now most films and shows are positively DRIPPING with estrogen. I pulled the plug on TV years ago and now I use Amazon Fire to stream what shows I want to watch when I want to watch them. (Im a amazon prime member because I use my kindle for so many books. Just made sense.

Last week I watched this documentary which I have to say was better than all the movies in the theater.
