Someone has to recognize a desire as evil and problematic before being “treated”. That is precisely the distinction you dont comprehend. One cant simultaneously hold the belief that there is NOTHING WRONG with a desire and then say that the desire needs “treatment”. Why would one treat something that is not “wrong”?

Don’t forget that a lot of the pedo’s get that way because they were fiddled with when they were younger, a PEDO is a f~~~ed up individual however it got that way.

ZERO TOLERANCE is the only acceptable stance, with severe punishment for perpetrators, (I personally condone capital punishment in these instances) however those that haven’t actually physically acted upon their sick perversion, need HELP to treat them, in order to PROTECT CHILDREN and PREVENT them from acting on their DESIRES which although I agree are SICK, they are DESIRES that they cannot control.

I’ve only known one, an hourly worker at a plant I worked at. He used his position as a volunteer Church bus driver to get close to kids and molested several very young boys. He was married, which isn’t uncommon for pedophiles. He also had his own children.

The sad part is, I’m sure he’s out by now as that was about 15 years ago. Recidivism rate is above 50%. I think only 3 states do chemical castration… So chance of re-offense is high… If we’re not going to execute them, then chemical castration seems like a good option, and life imprisonment if they don’t go for treatments…

I agree AFT, with everything you said.

Obviously, there is something wrong with the desire — but I agree the desire itself should not be punished. Studies show a small percentage of the population has these sick desires. Identifying these individuals, and treating them, would seem to be an enlightened approach.

AFT, OK you are right that it was an immature thing for me to have said. But may many pedos actually seek help? And of those how many are cured? I mean, you are right in theory but I question it all in actuality. And maybe it is just my experience, but 2 scumbags who I have known turned out to also be registered sex offenders. Yes, I know causation does not always equal blah blah blah. But I find it hard to believe (though I may be wrong) that most pedophiles are otherwise good people. That’s just me.

Miketow: The guy I worked with that did it (he was convicted), was otherwise ‘normal’ — he came to work, and didn’t engage in ANY other illegal or immoral behavior. He was easy to get along with and everybody got along okay with him. He wasn’t especially bright, though. Studies show low impulse control also contributes.

I’d argue we need to de-stigmatize the desire so more people get treatment. De-stigmatizing the desire doesn’t mean promoting it, that’s for damn sure. I think acting on it should be severely punished: chemical castration with long imprisonment, life imprisonment, or death penalty. If those with the desire could get drugs anonymously, that would probably help.

True that probably only a SMALL proportion of PEDO’s would seek help, ONLY those that DO BEFORE they PERPETRATE deserve treatment / including supervision, any prevention possible.

Well, I asked for it on my welcome back thread, and am sorry for it.

I was somewhat interested in what had been described as the “Applejack Affair”. I see that most of what he’s written has been deleted and can only follow the discourse through some quotes made in response to him by our respected members.

I’ve got a pretty strong stomach, and have witnessed some fairly disturbing things in my life. This being said, the issue being discussed, and Brony Boy’s thoughts/responses bring something to the surface of me which is uncommon for me at this point in my life.

I can’t contribute much to this intelligently, as it’s a subject which hits home to me on a very personal level, and the word “Anger” doesn’t even remotely approach the emotion which comes into play with me.

Youre arguing that there is no distinction between having a sexual desire for women or children so long as one doesnt act on it
