I know most of us have found out that voting is pretty much a waste of time, as we’ll ALWAYS get establishment fake Republicans or typical big government Democrats running for President.

One major thing is that Marco Rubio is gaining a lot of traction within people in my generation (people in their 20s and early 30s).

From what I understand, he’s pretty friendly towards illegals and is for amnesty (though I could be wrong on this and he might have changed his mind recently). He shared similar immigration views as Jeb Bush.

He also proposed something last night in the debate that I had to listen to twice to make sure that’s what he wanted: $1 TRILLION dollars in military spending. I had to stop for a moment and think about that. We’re HOW much in debt now and ticking? And this new darling of the Republican party wants to put us THAT MUCH MORE into debt!?!? Rand Paul actually countered this with some brilliant points, so I thought. Paul wasn’t really at the top of my list for a while, but he’s definitely up there now after this:

I noticed Rubio used a lot of emotional topics, like Christians getting killed by the evil ISIS members and other things like that. While I certainly don’t like that happening, and I think we should defend ourselves here in our own country, why do we need to spend MORE? Aren’t we powerful enough as is? We just need a less wimpy President!

Maybe I’m more libertarian than I give myself credit for! I’ve always considered myself “conservative,” but I’ve found so many “conservatives” my age attack me more than agree with me on fiscal issues! Then again, the definition of “conservative” might have changed since I took that title…which makes no sense to me, but I digress.

Aren’t we in the U.S. already spending more on our military than most of the other countries COMBINED? What better would we be increasing the debt by $1 trillion??

The only arguments I’ve been given are “well, we’d be safer! Sometimes our safety is at stake! We need the spending to keep up with places like RUSSIA!”

Maybe someone on here can clarify for me why that would be a “GOOD idea.”

The USA spends more than the next 9 countries combined on defense. the 2nd largest air force in the world belongs to the US Navy. The 3rd belongs to the US marine Corps. While I have heard that spending is supposed to decrease around 25% in real terms by 2020, the US will still be the top spender. But what dividends has it paid? The only real victory lately has been liberating Kuwait from Iraq.

Hahaha!! An old friend of mine at a job I had in 2011 used to address me by saying “morning/evening gov’nah!” Then I thought “Governor…I like that title. What am I a Governor of? Well, I don’t know that, but it’s a cool title nonetheless!” I “govern” my own life, I guess you could say!

Then I discovered “The Governor” on “The Walking Dead” a while back and I’ve used him as an avatar on some sites…as well as “reactionary pictures” like:

    null

(That and I always have liked the “jerk” characters that everyone hates. Hahaha!) 😀

Guys the military is set up to kill us. It is to protect corporate interests. It is the Final Word. What you actually need to be paying attention to is the rapid increase in private military corporations, some of which are 600,000+ strong, because they don’t need an act of congress or the president. They can f~~~ s~~~ up in 72 hours anywhere in the world. Our military is being outsourced, basically.

    This is how Empires fall.

They hire disloyal mercenaries, because fewer and fewer citizens are willing to fight for corruption or to benefit private corporations. Their military spending is stolen by rent seekers and intermediaries.

The biggest threat to the States at the present time is the unsustainable debt. Expanding that debt for any reason is probably a mistake. There’s more than enough fat to be trimmed from the present budget.

Rubio hasn’t been doing well in the polls, so is trying something different. He probably helped Rand more than himself. If Rand sticks to his strong points – fiat currency, Austrian economics, etc. – he has a chance of winning. Otherwise, probably not. Stefan Molyneux has had a few good videos on this election. They’re worth watching.

While we may spend more than the next umpteen nations combined on defense, we also spend foolishly, and much of it goes to crony capitalism. We drew in Korea, lost in Vietnam, and have essentially lost by any sane measure in Iraq and Afghanistan. To the extent “we” won WWII – which the Soviets mainly *fought* – we did so because we cracked the Japanese naval codes. The Poles had cracked the German codes at the start of the war.

That is exactly what brought about the downfall of ancient Rome. Those “barbarians” were former mercenaries looking for more work. No kidding.

Glad you posted Butler, RoyDal, he just can’t get enough exposure. He saw WW2 coming and exactly how it would pan out for big corporations, and exactly how WW1 benefited the money men. A true hero.

This is why I have no interest in politics. All of these candidates want to go even further in debt to solve a problem, going into unrealistic states to do so. So f~~~ it.
