Yes I think that I actually prefer the retro games over the newer ones. They were just easier to pick up and play. I do have the rose-colored glasses on I suppose but that is quite alright.

Now games are all about how much processing power you have and a lot of times we forget that games are also supposed to be fun. When I was a kid, I didn’t care about things like “frames per second”.

My favorite retro games are probably Double Dragon, Sonic the Hedgehog, and more recently, Castlevania IV.

They made games better back in the day. Now they make games that are too fast and that makes it too stressful. They didn’t make games then where you had to buy add-ons that add up the cost of the game. I prefer the older games over modern games, although a few games today weren’t bad.

Games back in the old days I like:
    Super Mario Bros 1 – 3 – NES
    Ninja Turtles 1 – III – NES
    Dragon Warrior – NES
    Mega Man – NES
The Legend Of Zelda/Link – NES
Mortal Kombat 1, 2 – Genesis, SNES, Arcade
Street Fighter II – Genesis, SNES, Arcade
    Ninja Turtles IV – SNES
Legend Of Mystical Ninja – SNES
Sonic The Hedgehog 1 – Knuckles – Genesis
    Tom And Jerry – Genesis
    Monopoly – Genesis
Resident Evil – PS1 era were the best ones
Tomb Raider – PS1 era were the best ones
    Test Drive 5 – PS1
And then of course 90s era pinball machines

I grew up in the 80’s so I have a MAME box now that I built with over 9000 old arcade games, don’t care much for the console emulators, as I was all about the arcades at the time. All time favourite arcade game is probably Black Tiger, aka Black Dragon. Big fan of most of Yoshiki Okamoto’s games (Time Pilot, 1942, final fight, SF2 etc)

On PC, best game of all time I think is the 1998 version of Battlezone, which exists in a weird place of being retro even back when it was made, while arguably also being the first game of it’s kind (first person RTS)

    Plus 1 to Mega Man 2 Jim01. It’s quite a good game.

Have you played the Mega Man X series?

I have played the remastered version of Mega Man X on the PSP (Maverick Hunter I think it was called) but prefer the originals tbh

I love the JRPGs from the 90’s on the playstation. Especially:
    Final Fantasy VII-VIII-IX
    Xenogears
    Chrono Cross

I still play these games from time to time. Absolutely love them.

Chrono Cross…One of the best games I played…Too bad they dont make games like they used to…I get dizzy playing fps and I do want a good story for my games…

I stand with feet apart and let my balls hang free...Manginas dont have balls...See how they stand and sit at the whim of their masters...

Yeah, same here. I actually enjoy games without voice acting. I like to read the story in my tempo, just like a book. And it also makes it more active, in that you actually have to read the story, not just passively listen to the game similar to a movie.

I play through both Streets of Rage 1 and 2 at least once a year – they both have the best soundtracks of any game

I’m not sure if it was already mentioned, but the SNES Classic Edition is being released in about a week.

This thread brings back some memories. My favorite PC games were the Myst series. Zork the Grand Inquisitor was too f~~~ing scary for me, but also amazing.

Console games, SNES will always be my favorite Retro system. I love JRPG, all the Final Fantasy games plus Chrono Trigger and Earthbound. There were some good games with great stories back in the day.

Wow, you don’t hear many people mention this one. Beautiful cover and soundtrack as well!
