The bible says ‘the son shall not bear the inequity (sin) of the father’ which is irreconcilable with the belief of ‘a sin’ passed down to subsequent generations.
What is the context of this verse – book and verse for reference? I believe this is taken out of context and equivocation is being used.
“Sin”, in theology, is not an ACT; it is a nature. Thats why the message is “we are all BORN sinners”. And the law wasnt given to a man as a standard he could attain, but rather a mirror to show him he never could. Hence why God sent His son to attain it for us, and be a sacrificial lamb for mankind. Because although God is loving He is also just, and requires justice.

but this is basically saying:
“Oh crap, I mentally ran face-first into one of the THOUSANDS of inexplicable contradictions in my religion… and i need reassurance that ignoring my common sense and blindly following this man-made book of stories is still the right thing to do… so please don’t respond unless your answer defies all logic and will pacify me without challenging my beliefs”
This is always entertaining to me. Tell me of your so enlightened intellectual theory. So, what then do you believe? There was some “big bang” explosion – a FART of cosmic sized proportions which created the universe we live in? A universe of such precise specifications that if the earth were but a mere few feet closer to the sun we would melt; a few feet further away and we would freeze. A universe of such order and magnitude.
Even IF you can swallow the aforementioned notion of a cosmic fart, then where did: space, matter, and time come from? I would truly like to know your “intelligent” THEORY.
EVOLUTION: ahh yes, each species evolved from one another BUT all of the bones substantiating this theory between the MISSING LINKS are nowhere to be found. Indeed all of the “evidence” this entire THEORY hinges upon are MISSING. Woops! But theres more! How did each “evovled” species procreate? Well there MUST have been an equally EVOLVED member of the opposite sex….But a las – ZERO evidence when BILLIONS of bones should be found.
Again, what is YOUR theory? Who is BLINDLESSLY following a belief?

There are in the Irish translation.
Burn you heretic! Chaun WILL punish you.pffft,,,, there’s no hell, only the realm of Hades
Cynics may argue the Irish Translation of the Book of Chaun, pieces of Gold be upon Him (PGBUH), is written merely to appease the local population, and dismiss it as syncretism, but the faithful know it’s twwwwwooooooooooo. Cynics even argue a different ‘translation’ can’t have different content, but they have little faith. Different revelations for different folks, ya know. Distinct Content in Different Translations of the Holy Book of Chaun, the miracle of the Transmutation of Translation, are simply one of the Great Mysteries of Chaun, PGBUH, to be revealed on the other side of the Rainbow. Chaun (PGBUH) has different Plans for different Peoples, hence His need for distinctly different content in the various translations.
Megatoad: What piece of the action do I get for being your head Priest? I want to get in early on this deal. Let’s negotiate offline. It had better be high because making this stuff up is hurting my head. If I’m not satisfied by your offer, you may see a schism coming…
Seriously, I see no contradiction between religion and living single. I also find it funny when people make fun of non-believers.
I also see nothing wrong with an exchange of ideas on the topic, especially with some much needed humor.

We can all exchange and debate any views possible. But I HONESTLY have no idea what your attempting to express .
Your post is convoluted and conflated. What are you trying to say?

More nonsense, zero facts. Thanks for all of your illogical input.
Again: what is YOUR intellectual THEORY that surpasseses a belief in a God? Do you posess one? If so, please share.

I
believesubscribe to the Multiverse theory.A universe of such precise specifications that if the earth were but a mere few feet closer to the sun we would melt; a few feet further away and we would freeze. A universe of such order and magnitude.
We got pretty lucky I’d say.
Even IF you can swallow the aforementioned notion of a cosmic fart, then where did: space, matter, and time come from? I would truly like to know your “intelligent” THEORY.
God did it makes more sense to you? Where then did god come from?

False! There are lots of links, and more are turning up all the time. The differentiation of the sexes, it all started with RNA and DNA, the details are complicated, but life had billions of years to accomplish this. Again, you believe a god did it, how did this god become created?
Again, what is YOUR theory? Who is BLINDLESSLY following a belief?
Faith IS blind BELIEF! Science is based on FACTS, show me FACTS about the existence of god, that is right, there is NONE!
You can't reason with unreasonable, there; women, figured out, there is nothing to reason.

I believe subscribe to the Multiverse theory.
And what is the evidence of this theory?
We got pretty lucky I’d say.
You dont posess an argument or an idea for your own notions. “We got lucky”. What an intelectual fabrication. Thanks for telling it like it is.
Btw, if your theory or ideas are so much more intelligent than the notion of creation by design; feel free to let us know.
They clearly are not. Again, thank you for demostrating your intelectual vapid nature. Anything else youd like to share?
There are lots of links, and more are turning up all the time.
Im sorry, can you post me news articles to the BILLIONS of bones that should be present to substantiate this theory?
Please, post below.
You seem to miss the point ENTIRELY. Its going to take “faith” to believe in ANY of the debates. The question is: which side requires more faith?
Your lack of an argument, lack of evidence, and the notion that ORDER COMES OUT OF CHAOES, requires more blind faith than I can imagine.
Go take a s~~~ and tell me how much “order” is in your toilet. Or better yet, amswer ANY of my questions with logical reasoning.
Youre belief requires more faith than a belief in God.

We got pretty lucky I’d say
This is just the summom bonum of agnostic/liberal/idiot mentality to me.
We got lucky.
LOL!
Tell me more, prince of wisdom!
Perhaps the next wave of intellectual enlightenment will come from an ACCIDENTAL hail storm!!!
Good God, I cant imagine if people such as yourself were in charge of this world.

Oh, I forgot to address this. So what are the FACTS of your:
-multiverse theory
-your “luck” theory
-your “science”?…
-evolution with ZERO missing links…You posess ZERO “facts”.
You believe there was a cosmic FART that created all of us, but you have no explanation of where time matter and space came from? The “fart” created order out of chaos?…
Youre belief requires more faith than that in God. Please prove otherwise.

Youre belief requires more faith than that in God. Please prove otherwise.I’m just interested to know what their explanation is for the cause of the “big bang”. What’s the source of all that energy? Where does the mathematical precision clearly displayed in our universe come from?
Many a scientist has reluctantly but definitely admitted that the awesome precision involved in the motions of planets, stars and galaxies could only come from a sentient omnipotent being, whatever you might call Him.
As far as discounting several thousand years of observed history, applied philosophy and God-given science, it’ll take a lot more than jibes and unfounded theories to sway me.Don't let them Blame, Shame or Tame you!

Its fine, like I said re: wasted time/breath.
I’m sure out of all the different religions humans have had as they evolved through the millennia, you each individually got it right. Have a kickass time in heaven.
I hope you get your money’s worth.
I hope it’s everything they promised you.

Ancientwisdom, you do realise that you are arguing science with mythology?
You tell me what I think because of science is ridiculous?
Throughout history the bible has proven to be wrong, not only that but immoral by today’s standards.
Just show me ONE scientific FACT that there is a god.
(the bible is not proof btw)Ridiculing science does not prove a god. It makes a person look ignorant of facts.
Do you believe in Zeus? And why not, back then people believed in Zeus with all their hearts.
You can't reason with unreasonable, there; women, figured out, there is nothing to reason.

The only reason you don’t believe in Hinduism is because you weren’t born in India, but they believe just as strongly as you believe, are you ‘righter’ than them?So tell me believers, what is god, do you believe god to be all good? Why do you think god is a valid explanation whereas you believe scientific explanation is laughable? Do you not realise that an imaginary being creating s~~~ sounds way more ridiculous?
It’s mythology from ancient books from the minds of men who didn’t understand the world around them, so they invented an explanation and created a god in their own image.
Is your faith stronger than Matt?
You can't reason with unreasonable, there; women, figured out, there is nothing to reason.
Why don’t you believe in Zeus?
OHHHH You are SO getting lightning bolts up the arse for that one! Aegis bearing Zeus never forgets an insult.
"Data, I would be delighted to offer any advice I can on understanding women. When I have some, I'll let you know." --Captain Picard,
Ancientwisdom: Sorry if the post was confusing, I’m somewhat a student of world religion, though I work in technology as an Enginerd. Some explanation is due. ‘Peace be Upon Him’, abbreviated PBUH, is often stated upon any mention of the Prophet Muhammad, the founder and profit-making prophet, of Islam, by devout Muslims — and often abbreviated as ‘PBUH’. In contrast, ‘Pieces of Gold be Upon Him’, was meant as a disrespectful spoof of all that honoraria, the ‘Gold’ being the gold at the end of the rainbow in the legend of the leprechaun, the farcical ‘religion’ suggested by Megatoad (which I thought was hilarious), and thus prompted my response. It’s also disrespectful to depict the Prophet Muhammad in imagery, for which several Westerners have died brutally at the hands of extremists — though it wasn’t always so — that’s a relatively recent ‘innovation’ in Islamic faith. Charlie Hebdo rules!
In ‘piece of the action’, I was jokingly suggesting that I receive some worldly/temporal benefit from assisting in starting this farcical religion of ‘Chaun’ (presumably derived from lepre-chaun), and ‘getting in early’ as I put it, as though it were a business start-up. This is pretty typical. The priests in ancient Judaism had a feast when animals were slaughtered; meat was much more valuable then, than it is today in an era of factory farms. We can argue whether OT God liked to smell the burnt flesh offerings commanded of his followers by the Old Testament, but I can assure you, it is a certainty the priesthood and their families, enjoyed the BBQ after these sacrifices! Sure beats working! Amble about in fine temple clothes and have a feast every day, and tell people what to do, and threaten them with God’s wrath if they disobey. Yep, that’s MY dream job!
And I can make a damn good case L. Ron Hubbard started Scientology to get rich, that Joseph Smith started Mormonism to get rich & get laid, and that many other religious leaders lived and are living, lavish lifestyles. That doesn’t disprove religion, but it merits consideration.
Untamed: We know not what created the big bang. What created God? Is creation ex nihilo, rational?
Order from Chaos? Study cellular automata. I remember learning about it as a teenager, running Neumann’s ‘Life’ on a personal computer in the early 198o’s. How do these ‘scientists’ know it was a ‘single omnipotent being’ and a ‘Him’? Anthropomorphization much? Life creates order from chaos routinely; my body takes in simple proteins and carbohydrates, and turns them into complex structures such as cell organelles, mitochondria, nucleic acids, etc. So do single cell bacteria. Stars produce more complex nuclei (higher atomic weight) from simpler ones (hydrogen and helium) in the process of thermonuclear fusion. So yeah, there are a lot of natural physical processes in which order increases in one place/locally, though it always decreases overall (Entropy/2nd law).
The fact that the laws of physics and chemistry work to allow us to live, does not constitute proof that a monotheistic God created us 6,000 years ago and created the illusion of a far older Universe. To me, it’s like saying, the Sun exists in a perfect balance, Ra is the Sun God, ergo we must worship Ra. Rah, Rah, Rah, go team? Rah, Rah, Rah, let’s fly to Ra’s Temple in Egypt?
I would argue ‘Chaunism’ is still in the ‘cult’ stage; it would need a lot more followers, dogma, and a few hundred years to become a bona fide ‘religion’.
All this said, I don’t see MGTOW as incompatible with Christianity, in that there are lots of religious orders promoting chastity and the bible doesn’t command marriage. Obviously, it does prohibit sex outside marriage.
I don’t have any theory that ‘surpasses’ the existence of God. Man has believed in many Gods. There is no more proof for one, than another.
As for some of your other comments, there are limits of scientific knowledge. We can’t observe what happened in the big bang; we can’t attain those energy levels in a particle accelerator. We can’t even say for certain, whether the universe is open, or whether it is closed. That said, those limits, don’t prove the existence of a God or Gods.
‘Transmutation of translation’ in my parody post, was simply meant as a contradiction, something that couldn’t possibly be true (how could the same scripture, when translated to different languages, have significantly different content? That isn’t a translation by definition), and must be explained away as a Mystery. In any other human endeavor, I’m not permitted these contradictions; in religion, they are allowed and accepted.
If the Eucharist is the Body, why does it taste like a piece of bread? How can Jesus be both man and divine? How can the Earth be created out of nothing? All of these are pretty mainstream Christian beliefs, some of which are characterized as Mysteries. This doesn’t even get into the problems with biblical cosmology.
Religions change over time, typically in their beginning, adopting features of prior religions. There are many reasons for this, credibility being high among them. This is called ‘syncretism’. even in imagery, the Jews borrowed from the Egyptians, and the Christians borrowed from the Jews, in temples and religious art. There are many parallels between ancient pagan practices and Christianity; not just Mithraism, though it is probably best known. To convert Jews, Jesus had to be made out to be the Messiah; however, since he didn’t meet the criteria required by the Bible itself for the messiah, most Jews did not, and do not now, accept Jesus. It took 300 years after Christianity began, to firm up what Christianity’s beliefs comprised, and in that time there were HUGE changes, such as the Trinity. There’ve been lots of changes since, but at a slower pace.
Megatoad: Of course the Bible is immoral by today’s standards. The vast majority of the population would not advocate killing people for apostasy, holding slaves, allowing beating slaves unless it kills them, killing children for disrespecting parents, etc, all of which is commanded in the Holy Bible. And this does not even get into the question of whether Abrahamic God’s actions in the OT are moral. Let’s see. Punishing future generations for the sins of one (Adam & Eve, iniquity of fathers going down 3 or 4 generations, etc), I could go on and on but this is long enough….
I would argue people believed in Zeus and the other Olympic Gods and Goddesses of the Greek Pantheon, because it was part of their culture and traditions, and because it provided explanatory power for natural phenomena — the same reasons people believed throughout the ages. Though I’d say in the modern era, religiosity is often associated with morality or being a ‘good’ person, though I’ve not seen any correlation between religiousity and morality. The Japanese are pretty irreligious and their murder rate is lower than in the good ‘ole U.S. of A. with all its Christians. In ancient times, you had more Gods and Goddesses that were local, or would help you with a certain problem (fertility, love, war, etc) if you went to their temple and/or gave sacrifices so the high priests and/or priestesses could have a tasty BBQ.
The first question to ask about a Church is how much money the Priest earned in market employment last year vs how much from flock fleecing.
Frank, that’s the best explanation for the BBQ’s I have ever heard.
Did this Jesus character or someone like him oppose this fraudulent feast and decide to pull off a counter-fraud maneuver to expose or end this fraud?
And how about the cannibalism? Did these priests decide (or were made to) to try a bite of Jesus?
And why would an omnipotent being always choose to talk through crazy people? Why not address everybody, then all doubt would be quashed. We wouldn’t need faith, we would know.
If you don’t think Abraham and Moses weren’t crazy, YOU are the crazy one!You can't reason with unreasonable, there; women, figured out, there is nothing to reason.
Anonymous5I believe subscribe to the Multiverse theory.
I also believe the Multiverse theory may have merit and I’m a peacemaker that likes to compromise.
I believe that in one of those universes there was a supreme being who coughed 7 times in 7 days creating everything. It was a coughing, not farting!
I don’t believe for a moment that it was just one big fart either.
In 3200 other universes, it was exactly as described in all 3200 different religions currently existing on earth today.Personally, I follow a religion that the government of Australia has had to officially recognise because of a question asked in our national census. I’ve officially categorised myself as a Jedi for about 15 years now. Over 65,000 other Australians have seen the light and attained salvation too..
Please, don’t ask me to explain anything about being Jedi, it’s a secret,,,,only for other Jedis to know.Gentlemen, thank you for your responses I apologize for not responding sooner. I have read through all your answers and I realize now I made a mistake by posing the question with that requirement about belief. Each answer can be branched into what each of us believes. I posed the same question to a friend at lunch yesterday, and his replied in a similar manner to Redpillable and Ancientwisdom about free will, I think each of you is saying this in your own way. With evolution, yes we can be programmed in a certain way but we still have cognitive awareness over this programming and know right from wrong. It’s there, even if some choose not to use it.
