Detonated from high orbit over the US, the electrical grid would be destroyed.

N. Korea has barely 25000 kilometers of marginal roads .. and of those only 724 kilometers are paved. That’s barely the distance between NYC and Cleveland. That entire little country would stretch from near Oklahoma City to just north east of Kansas City. Forget the parades and pagentry. I feel for the population of both Koreas .. however, Kim and his regime cronies are nothings, pests; a temporary nusiance. That is how they will be remembered, a brief headline .. if at all.

A country that has made itself as useless and worthless as N. Korea has nothing to loose and therefore is much more likely to launch a first strike and suffer the consequences.

I’m guessing our background radiation is at some point measurably higher than South America, Australia has uranium tailings that runs for many sq Miles, all mined from the ground for decades, pulverized and put in detention ponds, all radioactive, You guys are one of the worlds leaders in uranium production (and tailings).

About 2 weeks ago, I bought bottle of 60 65-mg tablets of potassium iodide. (one per day).

How many days worth of potassium iodide do you think it would be advisable to stock up on?

2.-No precision needed at all. An EMP is big enough anyway. (and so, not dependent on navigation satellites that may be switched off / jammed, because they belong to other countries. )

3. It may kill all satellites that civilization also depends on. Also, f~~~ing up the protective magnetic field of Earth for some time so satellites cannot be replaced (or new ones are a lot more likely to be damaged by radiation and cosmic rays and particles from Sun)

+1: if it kills GPS, US nukes and bombers may have problems shooting back. Old legacy ICBMs and bombers used some different navigation, based on stars and air photos. I guess after EMP a compass would also be made crazy for some time

What may help: save your data and put it in a metal box, (probably the laptop too), unplug stuff not in use (EMP makes high voltage spikes in power lines far away from explosion) print important stuff, and plus all the zombie-apocalypse type preparations. Because people may go full-zombie behavior.

Only if Lil Fat Kim is stupid with nukes would he use them on a city. If he used all his nukes for EMP, he could cause a clusterf~~~ and far greater loss of life than hitting cities.
