My office is 12/14 female. (FYI, I’ve worked in a company that was 23/25 male and it was just as awful in a different way). Here are some of my troubles:

Boss, F, scatterbrained, wishywashy, changes her mind, can’t make a decision independently, always takes credit but assigns blame to others.

Office manager, F, expert at deflection of work. Made a career out of meaningless BS.

Middle managers, F – Hide behind company policies to be a bullies. (Will literally CC my boss on an e-mail if an address on a tax return has punctuation or if “Lane” is spelled out instead of abbreviated “Ln”. Will hold up tax returns over $20 deductions.

Scanner admin – interrupts me 3-10 times a day over meaningless things. Asked me once why something was in a yellow folder instead of a green one, for instance.

Bookkeeper – Very low self esteem, hyper sensitive, always defensive and combative. Will reflexively tell you any reason not to do something you request.

Preparer, male, well respected and allowed to work independently. However the quantity of work output is very low.

Admins – Think they run the show. When asked to do things they will either tell you 1. That’s not my job 2. That’s not how we do things here 3. Ask the boss if they really have to do something 4. Tell you to do it yourself or 5. Do it, but take their sweet time doing it – could be anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks. Think they’re always “busy” but don’t understand the big picture and that they’re supposed to help the professionals, not the other way around.
