68% … make that 50% while a sole proprietor during my marriage … is why when my wife took an extra $110k from my after-tax savings that cost me $220k of earned income. How long would that take you to make? Four years is about right.

The more I hear about things like this, the more I find myself aspiring to retire to some tropical country where I get warm weather and the favorable exchange rate. Whatever I may have owed to anyone for their oppression, I’ve f’king PAID IT, and then some. I’ve never received a government loan, grant, handout, entitlement, bailout, divorce settlement, palimony, child support or any other form of ‘redistribution’ of anyone else’s wealth to me.

But I’ve paid property taxes to support schools where I don’t have kids. I’ve paid federal income taxes to support all sorts of these programs to benefit people other than me. I’ve paid social security taxes to that government run Ponzi scheme for every year of my life since I became old enough to work, to support illegitimate children of single mothers of every color, (but rarely if ever to any man), and to support the retirement of women that will continue even after I am dead. I have paid capital gains taxes on the proceeds from all the investment risks that I took alone, with money I earned alone.

I paid these taxes from a career I’ve had that required me to qualify just to train for. In order to qualify for the training, I had to score higher on entrance exams for being male and white, in order to get access to the same training. My CPA tells me that I have paid a total of over 1 millions dollars in taxes over the course of my taxable career (starting at 15 years old).

Any privilege I ever had, I damn well paid for with sweat, time, skill and effort. Any property or money I ever had, I earned and paid taxes on at a total rate of nearly 50% on the incoming side, and 8.25% on the outgoing (state sales tax) side.

That restaurant is about to learn an important lesson with this policy of wealth redistribution. I anticipate a very long line of people claiming to be victims and wanting their free handouts, and a very short line of people voluntarily taking blame for ‘oppression’ and agreeing to be financially punished for it.

Think I will pass on visiting Louisiana, while I understand it’s voluntary, this has to stop, my dollars will stay in my pocket or to those who do me a service. Just the fact the restaurant thinks this, is enough for me to pass on similar situations.
