My Small Encounter with Embodied Delusion

I’d like to preface my post with two quick notes.
1. I am a young professional and conduct myself in that manner. I realize that my compensation is directly proportional to my contribution.
2. I like to think that I am very empathetic, and am able to see other perspectives despite my lack of life experience.

I work a typical 9-5 as a “Relationship Manager,” basically a glorified banker. I had a seemingly pleasant woman come in to open an account, and she was looking to redeem a monetary offer that was mailed to a home that she rents. I got to know her as a client, asking questions such as long term goals, financial situation, other banking relationships, etc. Everything was great, aside from that fact that she was unsure if her employer was able to do direct deposit, which is a requirement for the offer she brought in. I asked her multiple times if she’d like to leave the office and find out, which would have taken a simple call to do so. She’s been a cosmologist, hair for the most part, since her teens, Shes also divorced. Maybe I should have seen something like this coming.

Fast forward 3 days, and that same woman comes in, but is avoiding eye contact with me. I was unable to initiate conversation, so i went on with my business. I began to hear her scream at one of my tellers and decide I should probably intervene before our teller has an emotional breakdown. I go up to the once pleasant woman, and she immediately snaps at me, as if trying to strike fear in me with a look. She accuses me of assault, sexual harassment, and holding her hostage through the account opening. This woman is 50, well over double my age.

Now my initial reaction was probably not the best, but I was so blindsided by this that all I did was kind of look at her sideways and smile. Keep in mind, this woman had shown no sign of hostility at account opening. I thought that he was joking with me. I began to apologize, something along the lines of “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to come off that way-” then I was interrupted with another volley of “You know that I could sue you and you could lose your job?!”

At this point I lost what respect I had for her, and simply stared blankly at her twisted face. I tried once more to reason with her, trying to recap the meeting that we had, and she just yelled at me saying that she was not going to pay any fee associated with closing the account. I finally gave up and told my teller to give the woman my manager’s card. I went back to my desk to try and think of where this woman could possibly come up with this scenario in her head. Clearly, this is delusion embodied in someone who does not get their way, and so uses emotional force to get her way rather than reason.

I have always been a very patient person, and this was confirmed to me by the teller who went on and on about how she would have “smacked that bitch for screaming at me like that.” fast forward a couple more days, and my manager tells me about the incident, and that the womanbasically apologized. He figured there were some other things going on in the woman’s life that caused her to take her anger out on me. I’m not upset with her, however I do not respect someone who can act as such.

It’s almost frightening though, how much women can get away with by playing victim. I wonder if I had not had my teller as a witness, how this situation would have gone. I know some men have had it much worse, so I invite you to share your experiences if you feel they are similar. Thanks for reading.

I have been in almost the EXACT situation. I knew the client would be a chronic trouble maker at any given opportunity. I got lucky and foul language was being used. I pointed out that we had customers with children in the office and I asked her to leave. Of course that was followed by the “what are you going to do” bulls~~~. So, I called the cops who escorted her ass out the door. As soon as the check cleared and I collected my fees I closed the account and sent a letter with the check reminding her that she had been “trespassed” from the office and her return would result in the police being called again. Problem Solved.

Next time get her to step over the line and get rid of her ass. It is not the bitch you throw out that causes problems it is the one you keep.

We all work in the same industry and I almost prefer it when they swear because that is my only exit, the only time I can really refuse service. Its crazy scary. My boss makes me close my door during meetings for privacy but with some of these women it worries me because you do not know what they might say.

Nobody should be forced to live with them. I would declare “marriage” as a crime against humanity and make it unlawful.

It is a fraudulent contract and I am waiting for the first man with unlimited sums of money to file a lawsuit against it.

Two more thoughts here. Never apologize for something that is not your fault. I know it is hard to do in the heat of the moment, but my go to phrase is:

“I am sorry YOU feel that way.”

Also, never threaten to call the police. Just call them and let them take the trash out. When you call the police do not call 911 or the police station. Call dispatch directly.

I hope you can get rid of this “client” soon. It will happen again and when it does just let it escalate. Do not White Knight for your teller line. Let them call you over once it has gotten out of hand and the f~~~ you s~~~ starts. Then out the door she goes!!!!!

Customer sessions must be recorded and added to the file.

All else, a secret bodycam is alright. The punishment for privacy infringement is way less than moving in for rape or assault. And the recordings from such a camera can clear your name and save your reputation in front of those who would normally fire you. So the c~~~ cannot make you lose your job.

I’ve always thought that women have had solipsism ingrained in their psychology, but I think that BPD and NPD is more prominent, probably a more accurate analysis.
