    Oh you know the Prince of darkness?

    Warm summer night. Im out in the sticks on my Trumpet.

    Then he strikes!!!!

    My head light goes out!!!!!!!!

    60 mph. Pitch f~~~ing black. No moon, no damn nothin!!

    Im grabin high beam low beam, wiggleing the ignigtion key, smacking the head light, calling for my Mom!!!!

    Im on a straitawy, so I gently, firmly grab the brakes. I stop on the right side, a car goes by and I can see Im just a few feet from going down a steep hill.

    A car goes by, I jump behind him and follow back to town.

    The Prince of Darkness!

    bikes are great and also good for breaking the ice even across racial borders.

    a week ago this obviously short middle aged Indian guy turns up with one of these (same colour too)

    So there he is on this Royal Enfield clumsily trying to park it. Before I continue a Royal Enfield has hardly any power and a torque curve that is delivered like a sledge hammer. So anyway this new comer to our group is trying to park this thing and its lurching all over the place like a bucking horse and he finally turns the thing off looks at me sheepishly and I say “let me guess, your from India”. He looks back smiles and replies “how did you guess”. So we have been riding now for a few weeks and we greet each other like old chums every weekend and I ride slow so he knows he isn’t being left behind in the group.

    Guys from all walks of life.Lawers, mechanics, ex cops, ex cons. Me.haha

    At least Lucas is a prince of darkness and almost never burn like others, when you stop hearing the annoying clickity clicking of the voltage regulator dimness and darkness is sure to follow! If I was gonna hack something better I’d refit it with a Delco solid-state alternator and electronic ignition, but I’m keeping everyhthing factory origional with no modifications.

    You should get one of those tire driven mini generators they put on bicycles with a string across your handlebars tied to the “engage lever”, I once made it home from a club with my friend using a string looped around the windshield wipers into the interior, my f~~~ing arms hurt for days!

    I ride with a club for british bikes.

    I was thinking of joining some brand/nation specific riding clubs but I prefer to go to a ride meet were you get too see a mixed bag of bikes to stare at.

    also don’t forget the cable ties, I never ride without a few cable ties especially with V twins because they generally have a habit of shaking bits off when you are miles from the nearest service station.

    Yea, Im not into the, my bike good, your bike bad thing. Mostly I just like good rideing and some laughs, good food.

    Some guys to get racey with mixed in.

    I also like rideing alone. Practiceing different things.

    Two wheeled solitude.

    Thats how much they vibrate!

    Hey OldSage, it’s not the (((vibration))) it’s the Whitworth thread that does it, it’s a superior thread cut when it comes to pullout resistance. look closely at the threads and you’ll see they appear to be slightly stripped, rounded over at the apex instead of being sharp like a blade. The valley of the thread is also concave, the threads are rounded to meet each other like this “((” instead of this “<<“, the cutting action of the sharp thread creates its own tension and traction along the tip of the cutting edge as it’s less resistant to bending forces, therefore it binds and holds the load that way.

    I wouldn’t hesitate to use locktite thread lock.

    I’m using Locktite, polyurethane adhesive on the wood joints, urethane paint, and synthetic oils.

    The original nitrocellulose paints are s~~~.

    The original oils were s~~~.

    The original wood bodies were squeaky as s~~~.

    The original Whitworth fasteners are s~~~. Unless you’re building something that doesn’t ((((VIBRATE))))) I like driving and riding, and not being towed home. Good thing the main bearings to the MG are fastened with metric sharp threads with Whitworth heads!

    You guys should go to car shows and rallies if you want to meet some real interesting people. I have a box of trophies from all the shows I entered. One show official was dumbfounded and disappointment when they couldn’t classify my 1933 Pontiac pedal car with a 3.5 hp Briggs&Stratton, transmission, and differential rearend. I have a wooden trailer for it too.
    I purchased the shell at the Brimfield Antique Show in 1984. I saw it and knew what I wanted to do to it right away!Paid $425.00 bucks for it and the 45.cal bullet hole came with it for free! I totally did it up and re-chromed everything including the parts I fabricated like the bumpers and exhaust system. (the original body is built like a real car with fenders, running boards, hood, and grill shell). I added a subframe with suspension, trans, and rearend. I followed the proven method of body and chassis. It worked out well for preserving as much of the origional body without welding and bolting to it and destroying its originality. Even the clutch and brake pedals reach around the running boards instead of poking holes through the body.

    You guys would like my skichair rickshaw made from a Harley golfcart frame and rear suspension welded to an antique skichair with oak lats. I hook it to the golf cart and give the kids rides, all my s~~~ looks totally professional and detailed down to the welds being ground and or filed.

    I totally forgot about Sage’s love for these beautiful vehicles…Cannot believe M52 has not been in here yet…I am leaving right now on my way to TOWERS place…Looks like he has a garage full of TOTAL FUN BOYS!!!! Golly Tower, how in the hell do you ever get anything done with all that fun sitting around out there????
    I have one buddy in Moore OK, he and his dad have a shop in back, and all they do is build Choppers from the ground up, even have a plasma torch they do….so much fun I cannot describe…
    Also, helped a buddy rebuild a 67 Camaro back when I was almost 20….A LONG TIME AGO….Looked just like this when we were done, starting out it was a frame growing out of a farmers field…could SEE THRU THE FLOOR BOARDS EH!!!!

    My buddy Keith was his name, his Camaro took actual understanding and knowledge to race, especially off the line, man his car would get sideways off the line if you didn’t know what the eff you were doing….this brings back so many good memories eh….

    MG Im afraid of locktite! Hah

    Does It make it hard to re- losen them?
    One reason I like doing my own work is cause I HATE over tightened bolts! Im afraid of them beaking.

    I have sae, metric and whitworth tools.

    I ride a 2013 CanAm Spyder RT (touring bike) in red.
    And I’m too old for racing.

    I was thinking of interstate riding on a canam F3 all that rubber on the road looks like a good idea. Im not young anymore either so Im more prone to mistakes that don’t forgive.

    02 cbr600, needs some work. Not getting fuel correctly I assume. Nothing beats a windy road and no one in front of you to slow you down!

    I have a CB400, I use it as a shop bike and it has been doing short 2-8k runs now for over a year and its running a bit rough. Took it for a 8 hour ride got back and now it is running like a swiss watch. With bikes you 1. have to ride them 2. give them a long run every year to flush them out.

    Also if you let a bike sit too long any crap in your tank tends to build up blocking either the fuel pump (pull it out and flush the filter with kerosene) or the in line filter (same).

    Im thinking about putting a supercharger on my Honda GL1000. The engine needs a rebuild so I may just go nuts on it.

    it could be worse I could buy a Triumph Rocket III with a 2300cc engine and go, no that’s not insane enough, I need more power.

    The Vulcan Nomad 1700 and the big VN2000 are on my bucket list of rides.
