What does love have to do with it? If it was all about love, the way we were told during our childhood, then there would no need for the State force us to sign a marriage contract between two people and the State.

Love is just a chemical reaction in our brains. Need to think logically nowadays. When the State gets out of the marriage business and there are no longer any division of assets, we can talk.

Economists have long argued that marriage rates are lower in poorer and less well-educated areas because men in those communities aren’t good financial bets. Without steady incomes, they can’t reliably contribute to a household, so while women might have children with them, they won’t commit to men for life. That’s been the assumption, anyway.

To a woman, having children is like winning the lottery. She gets a 20 year annuity either from the government or some hard working man.
